Anybody pointing to the total number of users as relevent to this discussion are hilarious.

I have the 2251st rank GTS on the site, and that's over a whopping 5300 games. And I'm so far from even -having- a tier point, let alone being in a tier that I don't even count.

For the purposes of discussions around serious ranking of serious players, you're looking at an ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM of 2000 users. Out of the full 1.7 million users.

If you're looking at only 2000 people, absolutely no more than 100 should even -be- in a tier, IMO.

Explain this. btw 1-7 pt reqs are almost the same with old tier reqs (3-9 pts).

You're dropping the overall point requirement of the higher difficulty tiers by two full points - those who worked hard for the 9/9s and only BARELY got them will end up with 6/7, since some of the requirements are tighter, will get 5 or 6 out of 8 on those reqs, and do considerably worse on the new 9 point requirements. If this tier system is staying somewhat based off of a percentage, you're pretty much ripping Tier 0 out of some people's hands. Even right now, I'm down by 19 points from perfect...that's not very far into the top tier, considering that my ranks are pretty high across all but two songs (just a personal addition).

An arguable point, I suppose. However, there's no reason for people who can consistently AAA 9s and 10s (top third of the songs in terms of difficulty) to not have some sort of standing within the system, which is why the addition of a sixth tier is great. It's a huge step in the right direction. All I'm suggesting is tweaking some of the top requirements, because they're a bit too harsh.

EDIT: ok, I'm sounding like Stavie with the personal add at the moment (no offense, bud) - what I'm trying to get at is, there are a ton of people who may deserve the top tier, but might not get it because of the excessively difficult 8/9 point requirements.

I understand why Molto is an 8-pointer, but making the 1/8 requirement 1.5m is nuts. I have 1.4m on that when I manage to get an 800 combo, which is somewhere after the long jack into the minijack-wall-runningman section, which is the hardest part of the file to hit. If you can get 900 combo on that, you're pretty much home free after hitting that marker.

Edit: Uh, hi. Finally got the Lolo FC (51-20-0-41: Yay for intelligent mashing!), and noticed that on the page, the 1/5 requirement says "120 or higher." Pretty sure that should be "fewer" there, but that's just me. XD

Pretty sure everyone understood your idea (and nobody *agreed with it*).

Personally I'd like some easier reqs too, except in the highest tiers... I already know I'm not one of the 100 or whatever best players, but it'd be nice to have something more detailed than that... specifically something which wasn't highly dependent on mashing ability (which I don't think I have).

Im all for tier points being an accomplishment to get and stuff but there should definitely be some easier songs. Not easy songs but not ones that are out of reach to the people who aren't pro and still play regularly.

I hate feeling like such a failure for not being to get any tier points. Some songs like nine or eight difficulty (What average players can FC) would be nice for some tier points. And the people that are able to get the tier points that are out right now would have no problem getting the easy ones so there'd be no problem there...

That was a mistake on our part and we realized what we had to do to fix it. Once we finish the new tier point system, a lot more people will be satisfied believe me. It won't be a completely full tier point system yet but it'll be the next step towards that.
