Yes, they are pros, but you need to realize that TP is not an indication whether you are pro or not; it's an indication of improvement, which what we are all striving for.

not gonna bother quoting iironiic, but s/he said that tier points are a system of measuring improvement. I never got the impression that's what they were :S

I love the idea of having tiers for the people who just FC'ed free space for the first time, to people who finally AAA'd Death Piano, but I never got that impression from tier points.

aka, i'm defending planbsk8, because i think he's totally right about the difficulty of achieving tier points. it should be pretty fookin hard. but I'm also 100000% percent for having a tier-point-like system that even noobs can get rated on.

kmay, just because nobody was nice to you doesn't mean that people don't deserve the encouragement now. It's my primary goal in this game to make others better. I could give 3 shits less about my own scores in comparison to someone I'm trying to help.

even YOU asked for some advice from me and I gave you a few tips that you used and then succeeded with. Do you have any idea how good that made me feel? Sure, maybe nobody was there to give me the helping hand when I needed it, but I know how big of an impact that can make on some people. I try to do the best I can to make new players feel welcome and succeed in this game.

The reason I'm so passionate about this topic is because I can't help but to just sit back and watch FFR turn into a society of snobbish elites. I'm going to try my hardest to make sure that doesn't happen. I don't care when someone AAAs LGC, I care when I see someone trying their hardest and succeeding on a lower level song and then has the balls (that you so rudely told them to grow) to post a score.

The division of the FFR Scores thread was totally necessary because now the intermediate players, the future of FFR are getting recognized for their scores. If you think that's a bad thing, you're insane.

Lets try looking at this inversely. If you think it's okay for elites to have a ranking system of their own, is it okay for the other players to have their own reserved ranking where the elites are excluded? Nooo, because then I wouldn't get to feel special by being part of that ranking system, but I can just support things that suit me.

Take a look at the bigger picture here.

It's easy for you to say that because of how biased you are with the fact that you can AAA 9's. But consider how difficult many dedicated people strive to AAA that 9. Do you think they deserve nothing based on how hard they try to hit every single arrow perfectly? It's like not rewarding yourself for AAAing an FMO. You need to be a little more open minded and consider what's fair for everyone else.

Tier points are staying "elitist" because you make every tier point you achieve elite. But look at the other pros. People like Rubix or Dossar don't give a damn if they earn they're very first TP, simply because it's not out of their range. Yes, they are pros, but you need to realize that TP is not an indication whether you are pro or not; it's an indication of improvement, which what we are all striving for.

whats fair for everyone else? is what has been going on the entire time the site has been up and using tier points. no reason too all of the sudden make it lower level friendly, and btw i struggle to AAA just like all those lower level deidcated players.

also personally i know that i had no idea what a tier point was until i got [heavy] we have goals for the lower level players to obtain, and when they can get those they can work on getting tier points.

not elitist because i am not elite nor do i think i am. I am merely saying that it should not be changed to allow anyone and everyone to get a tier point.

kayla DF was personal choice anyone could have joined and been praised, but it never helped me. i didnt get my slight skill boost till the site came back up. even after months of whoring SM dumps.

You went through skill increases on the team as well don't sit there and act like you didn't. You increased a good bit for a while then you ended up having a drop which everyone sat there and encouraged you to keep trying. Personal choice or not the point was that you sat there like "oh no one was ever there for me trying to help me" when that is complete BS cause we all were there rooting for you.

It's hard to get that impression because so many people are so competitive these days. People will literally use TPs as a way to check whether you are pro or not. It's really why I stopped playing in tournaments, just because of this competitive attitude. What happened to the "fun factor" in FFR?

FFR is like golf. You shouldn't need other people to tell you when you're good or not. There should be no need for any sort of list at any point. Buuuut, people want it, so everyone should have access to something they can measure their achievements against.
I just always viewed "Tier Points" (c) as something extra special super awesome hard to get. I want that to stay the same, so let's just make something similar for the lower ranks.

i have nothing against people encouraging anyone else and i apprecited the help you gave me rushy, but there is no reason for a teir point to be rewarded for FCing a 9 or SDGing a 9. tier points are elite rankings. why cant we just use average rank to base how much we improve? tier points are an achievement, average rank is always a 'work in progess'. you guys will never make me see the way you are seeing this because you can't use the fact that I am good against me. like you are for Plan.
