God damn people, I dont hate newer players. I hate the fact that they are comparing themselves to the top players and feeling like they are not good enough, its BS. We separated our scores thread because all these lower players look at the top players and felt they werent good enough to post what they feel is a good score which makes no damn sense. All those top players are doing is what you all are doing and posting scores they feel are good. You are going to penalize them for posting their good scores? Thats messed up. Them thinking that way is what lead to the FFR scores thread turning into nothing but a place for the top players, thats their fault they let it come down to that. Its the FFR scores thread, EVERYONE can/should be posting scores there but nooooo, we have to compare ourselves to people better and feel like we are worthless. Im in the FFR scores thread all the time with people who trash my skills, do I just not post there because I feel I cant match any of those scores? No, I post their because the point is to post scores you feel are good to you. Now we are coming to this where we are taking something designed for the top players and want to bring it down to the level where we have to include lower players because they feel left out. It shouldnt have to work that way. Like I said, I have nothing against new players or lower level players, but this nonsense of doubting their skill and feeling like they should be having to separate themselves from the top players to feel good is disappointing to see. We are a community as a whole in this game but recently I have been seeing multiple arguments over silly things like this. Not everything is going to be fair. This site is better off without ranks and ****, maybe then people can actually go back to worrying more about having fun with the game rather then it turning into what its becoming now.

You all can think what you want about me, idc, call me elitest, doesnt bother me because I know Im not being a dick, Im simply putting in my thoughts just like everybody else and defending it, but it seems that if it isnt what you think then its blasphemy. I see why Im starting to lean more towards being a douche towards everyone because it seems like you cant be nice or joke around about anything anymore with out someone taking this crap way to seriously and having bitchfits over it. Community is starting to turn into a joke, can sort of see why people can hate this site. >_>

Okay so everyone from DF wasn't there and being encouraging to EVERYONE on the team including d1 players. I progressed so much faster because of that. And so what if people went through not having encouragement before that doesn't mean things shouldn't change for the better now. We're a community of people and people of all levels should be recognized not just the omg wtf players. Everyone should feel like they belong here.

And what I love too is you both came off with such a poor attitude about it. I saw plans post about not being a douche but dude when you express this stuff you're always talking down to people and saying stuff with an attitude. It's not hard to express opinions in a nice manner.

Well, I had two different ideas when this thread first came up - might as well mention them:

1.) Based off of the R1 Difficulties Thread, the difficulties were split into 99 points, but there are also decimal ratings on a scale from 1-6. Initially, my idea was to include all songs that were 4.0+, and split them upward into the 5 tiers (T0, T1, T2, T3, T4) that you had. Assign point values based off of their tier - 4.0 for Tier 4, 4.5 for Tier 3, 5.0 for Tier 2, 5.5 for Tier 1, and 6.0 for Tier 0 (which is difficulties 8 and up). Skill tokens can be included in here, but songs within the lower tiers must be thought about because not a lot of players can obtain some of these tiers. Each song can have values similarly to the style of the current tier point system, and receiving a static percentage throughout ALL tiers will move you up to the next tier. Failure to play in new songs that are added would lower your tier percentage, and thus knock out inactive players.

By static percentage, I mean that every tier would have the same required percentage needed to move on (if tier 4 required x percentage, then tiers 3 to 0 would require the same - for a truly tiered setup).

Tier values would be assigned based on their difficulty within that certain skill level (for example, a AAA on Etude for a Dragon [9] would be less than Legendary Etude [9]).

2.) Tiered based off of aspects within a file

This one would be a lot harder to put together. Basically, you take files that are catered towards a ton of streaming, a ton of technicality, a ton of (whatever aspect) and put a maximum attainable amount, where getting the % out of the maximum would determine what your tier is. Something like Reality would fall under a really high tiered streaming song, where as something like AAA would be on the lower end. Of course, there would still be assigned point values for each song, with more point value distribution given to the higher levels. A lot harder to ponder, but it's a thought.

EDIT: Clarification for idea 1 - forgot some stuff:

- AAA bonus would boost your tier % for the highest tier by small intervals (and I feel like the AAA count needed for the bonus REALLY needs to go down)
- Tiers would be unlocked after getting x % in a group. By getting x% of Tier 4, you unlock Tier 3. X of Tier 3 gives you Tier 2, etc. Any other songs done unofficially (i.e. those people who have 12 AAAs but haven't touched the other songs) would not receive credit for songs within the higher tiers until they completed the lower ones.
- not every song needs to be included, still a hand-picked group of 8s-12s, but the list should be fairly sizable to give those working for the Tier 4/Tier 3 requirements something to do if they get stuck

Everyone needs to get it in their little heads that earning a Tier Point is not supposed to be something easy. No level 9's needs to touch this list.

Tier posts are staying elitist because they are an elitist quality. stop with all this(including lower leveled players)

It's easy for you to say that because of how biased you are with the fact that you can AAA 9's. But consider how difficult many dedicated people strive to AAA that 9. Do you think they deserve nothing based on how hard they try to hit every single arrow perfectly? It's like not rewarding yourself for AAAing an FMO. You need to be a little more open minded and consider what's fair for everyone else.

Tier points are staying "elitist" because you make every tier point you achieve elite. But look at the other pros. People like Rubix or Dossar don't give a damn if they earn they're very first TP, simply because it's not out of their range. Yes, they are pros, but you need to realize that TP is not an indication whether you are pro or not; it's an indication of improvement, which what we are all striving for.

why would we include anything more general than that? it would be like playing every highschool game on TV. there are too many teams/players. they have to work their way up.

and kayla DF was personal choice anyone could have joined and been praised, but it never helped me. i didnt get my slight skill boost till the site came back up. even after months of whoring SM dumps.

Yes, they are pros, but you need to realize that TP is not an indication whether you are pro or not; it's an indication of improvement, which what we are all striving for.
