Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
After reading my reviews, I'm definitely definitely going to cut Synchronized Hearts. Very happy that it got in on the strength of its unique feel and I'm totally going to do it justice by making a good cut and the changes listed.
Stoked that the Shnabubula files got a good reception. (Wood Man from this batch and Double Dragon Title from the other batch)
Champion's Horizon also received a fair number of "pls cut this song" comments so I will look into doing that as well. There are definitely parts that I feel the file would be fine without. I might have to ask someone very skilled at cutting to see if they can make magic happen. But I'm happy people enjoyed it!
Seems like there were some extremely polarizing files this time around.
If you had a very split rating, you have to remember that you'll never please everyone. If a file was good enough to get accepted on the strength of 3 strong reviews over one low one, then the file obviously has enough of an audience that it will be enjoyed by many people. And you can be proud of that.
I agree with this. Consistency doesn't mean THE EXACT SAME, it means that the file follows a logical structure. "Logical structures" can be really big in scope- for example, pad files have a certain set of rules that govern everything you do in the file, versus making a micro-level choice of whether to mirror a particular pattern or not.
It's a fine balance, and one person's gut feeling of "consistent" is different from another's. That's why we have 4 judges per file.
