Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
Yesterday had the first real movement there's been on judging the September/October Batch since it was supposed to start back in January. Kayla rallied Nathan and AJ into helping out. (She's a lot better at confronting people one-on-one than I am.) So, 'cause we have three judges who are moving now, we might be trying a thing where each set only gets three judgments, and then game managers can look at the borderline cases. Might mean the conditional queue will be used more. We'll see.
I tried working again today, but I'm still having trouble. Just keep feeling awful about how I couldn't get any done sooner, and it's hard to focus when I keep beating myself up. Anyway.
As for judge applications, Dossar has been really stressed and busy, so he won't have time to look at applications until after the 15th. So over the next couple weeks, the other judges can leave comments on the applications and stuff, but we need the game managers to make final decisions.
Sorry for not posting more updates in here. And deeply sorry about how slow this has all been. I'm still forgetting that no news is still news, even though I know I've told myself that in here before.Comment

You're doing what you can, and I appreciate that. Please don't get down on yourself over this, something done is better than nothing, and let's not focus on the "could be doing more" if it's detrimental to personal stuff

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
I can move towards judge applications on the 12th. Finals end for me on the 9th and I need a few days to rest my body (I've physically been having chest pains, ugh). There has been an idea I've proposed related to judging files and reducing the time required but still maintaining the overall level of quality, and that should be going into play.
Next week, or the 9th at the earliest, there will be a long post I will make regarding the batch situation and directions that will be taken to recover -- it's the infrastructure issues that need to be resolved first before even considering anything like an official tournament.Last edited by DossarLX ODI; 05-3-2015, 06:23 AM.Originally posted by hi19hi19oh boy, it's STIFF, I'll stretch before I sit down at the computer so not I'm not as STIFF next time I step a fileComment

good(?) thing the last batch only had 20 files.I can move towards judge applications on the 12th. Originally posted by ilikexdYour strengths and weaknesses may never change, but they will still get better as you do, albeit disproportionately of course. You're bad at jumpstream, so just play jumpstream files. Play them for hours. Play ones you have to struggle to SDG, and play ones hard enough to make your hands and arms burn. Then play them some more. Then, the day after the next, play them again. If you aren't already doing this, you can't say you're stuck. Plateauing doesn't really exist, if you aren't improving it means you haven't put in the effort needed to improve, or your effort has been misapplied. It's more of a problem at really high levels, but never totally concrete.Comment

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread v2 [Regular batch: OPEN]
Greetings everyone,
As I mentioned earlier I would make a post early this week about the directions that will be taken to recover the batch from its current failed state. I've failed to be an active Game Manager this year and it's been incredibly frustrating that I wasn't able to do as much as I had anticipated from the situation I was in, but it's time to bounce back. When I use "we" I mean Silvuh and myself here.
We will be looking into the judge applications; I've already reviewed several of them. These judge applications are necessary to bring aboard more active judges on the judge team. We're planning to contact inactive judges that haven't officially retired if they will be available any more.
I also proposed an idea around a month ago related to how a judge could approach files in a batch without spending too much time and still retaining quality. In addition, what I have in mind is supposed to give an accurate representation of how the submitted files would look ingame in an attempt to make judge reviews more relevant to the game itself and also reduce the time needed to judge sets without taking a hit on quality. This will be shown to the judge team shortly.
So we're focused on going through applications first before judging batch sets to bring more users on the team as active judges. After deciding on the judges from the applications, we can work towards judging sets again.
On another note, thanks for patiently cooperating despite how much the batch has suffered this year. This is an incremental process.Last edited by DossarLX ODI; 05-10-2015, 08:18 PM.Originally posted by hi19hi19oh boy, it's STIFF, I'll stretch before I sit down at the computer so not I'm not as STIFF next time I step a fileComment
