Of course... there's probably some algebraeic way of proving me wrong. Someone find it or I'll continue to be convinced I'm right.

        Mathematicians.

If I made you immortal and told you to take an undecayable calculator and hit 1 then *1 for all eternity, you would never see another number besides one.
You would never reach an infinite number of presses that way.

        Would you settle for calculus?

No matter how convinced you are that you're right here, you aren't. All of higher math disagrees with you.

Infinity cannot be defined, which is why the invalid proof inf = ((inf)-(-inf))^2 is false.

But it can be used in arithemetic.

True. Hitting 1 forever doesn't equate to infinity though.

The reason why it's undefined in simple terms is because you don't know what infinity is. You're making a fallacious assumption when thinking 1^infinity means 1 times itself infinite times.

Infinity doesn't imply a number, what if infinity is a function? That's where the problem arises. Remember, infinity has no value, it just means to exist without bounds (existing everywhere at any given point in time). You can represent this unboundedness by any number of functions.

I suppose if you let x go to zero, lim hx^kx = (1+x)^(1/x) , then is that one?

            No, no it's not. It's 1^infinity, but the answer is e. lny=(1/x)ln(1+x) , lny=ln(1+x)/x , dy/dx (H) = 1/1+x , let x go to 0, ln y= 1, y = e^1 = e

Contradiction! 1^infinity therefore does not have to equal 1...it can have any number of answers actually.

            Hence the answer is undefined.

Ah thanks, I knew there was a simple way to show it but I forgot what it was ><

so you are saying a googleplex^googleplex^googleplex is closer to one than infinity? But you should note, that Infiniti should be the largest possible number in the universe in any measurement... so it's not "technically" infinity, it's just the largest known number in the universe that any measurement will withhold assuming the universe is 4-dimensional. It's a lot like the speed of light... when you shoot a gun out a window while driving a car on the beltline, someone at rest on the beltline will view that bullet going it's speed relative to the driver plus how fast the car is moving. If i'm traveling at .8c (c=speed of light), and turn my headlights on(1c), the speed form a person at rest will view the light from my "ship" to be moving only at 1c, not 1.8c, which suggests and proves that c is the fastest speed in the universe.

yes but if infinity is the largest number possible than that would mean that it is larger or that it is undefined so there is no answer unles both are right wich i dont see how that is possible though if u were to go faster than light?hmmm

But you see, then we'd have to come up with a new term for an endless string of possible numbers (non-imaginary) and we'd have an argument over that word.

By giving infinity a definition, it loses its purpose in math.

Of course. Wouldn't be much of an infinity if a mere integer could compare to it.

Uh...what? Who said there had to be any physical representation on infinity in the real world for it to be used? It's merely a useful theoretical concept, not a practical quantity.

exactly and then we would have to redo all of math because it would change how everything works wouldent it? and then noone would know the answer so its an unanserable question right
