Re: Infinity * Zero = Any Number ARGUE HERE
Okay what im about to say is going to make little sense because im an idiot and in the 8th grade..
but how can tha tbe true considering zero is not the smallest number right you can go into decimals an everything so technically speaking form my poitn of view.
the samllest number your could be get would be 0.infinity
so infinity = infinity ?Originally posted by jewpinthethirdI was thinking about this today, race...and dating.

Are you trying to state that 0.0000000000000000000... is less than 0?

Re: Infinity * Zero = Any Number ARGUE HERE
I'd have to disagree. Infinity is supposed to be 'never-ending' as they say, but zero has already ended; technically. But I guess that could be right. Someone call a mathmatician. >.>My shoe is attracted to your shoe.Comment

Re: Infinity * Zero = Any Number ARGUE HERE
12 pages of nothing. Infinity is a concept, not a number, therefore you cannot multiply by it.
As for negative infinity, it is all the numbers less than 0. Only time I have used it is when describing a graph. (As X aproches negtive infinity, y approches positive infinity.)Comment

Re: Infinity * Zero = Any Number ARGUE HERE
technically im not a mathmatician, but an error is the following any number / infinity = zeroOriginally Posted by A2_Sauce View Post
I've been very curious about this, please post comments.
Proof:
Any number / Infinity = Zero -- because anything divided by infinity will be infinitely small or zero.
Therefore Infinity * Zero = Infinity -- when you put infinity on the other side.

Technically dividing something by infinity makes something very small, but not zero
therefor it should be any number / infinity = Lim n-> 0
could be wrong... heck where is that mathmaticianComment

Re: Infinity * Zero = Any Number ARGUE HERE
When I multiply, "Inf * 0," on my calculator I get a Math Error.
EDIT: Everything gives me a math error. What a useless button.Last edited by FluorescentArmy; 12-30-2006, 01:56 PM.
