Everything in this world has a limit. The end of space is not an "infinity" away, it's expanding all the time but it always has a distance we can compute. A computer cannot compute infinity because.. it will take an infinity to calculate.
The reciprocal of infinity is zero, and the reciprocal of zero is infinity, negative infinity, and complex infinity. This means that zero and infinity share the same properties. Any mystical mathematical phenomenon you may find to link these two abstract values is because of this. Therefor, you all fail immensely at trying to be smart and clever. Go study mathematics.
Someone please edit "INFINITY IS NOT A NUMBER" into the top of the topic post, please.
I watched clouds awobbly from the floor o' that kayak. Souls cross ages like clouds cross skies, an' tho' a cloud's shape nor hue nor size don't stay the same, it's still a cloud an' so is a soul. Who can say where the cloud's blowed from or who the soul'll be 'morrow? Only Sonmi the east an' the west an' the compass an' the atlas, yay, only the atlas o' clouds.
Nobody in this entire ****ing thread knows what they're talking about except kilga and aperson, and a few others to a partial degree.
It seems like nobody here actually understands what the **** a number is. This thread is making me incredibly depressed and angry - I hate you FFR
The most important thing that everyone should understand is this: there is no such thing as "truth" in mathematics (very important). Chew on that for a while. Now. Mathematicians don't "make up stupid rules". Mathematics is by nature the study of a human-constructed system that just happens to often coincide with intuitive concepts about reality. Squeek's pompous statements about how "math doesn't make sense" are ****ing pissing me off. A lot of people in this thread need to throw out everything they know about math and ****ing start the hell over. God DAMN, is it just me or has FFR become more retarded in the past few months?
And for all you retarded fags who rail against "the system" of "academic idiots", maybe you don't realize it, but it makes you look horribly pathetic to people who are more educated than you'll ever be if you keep up that attitude.
i dissagree, inf/0*inf is greater than the C/V^2 so in that case inf would be 0*10^-inf. though this basic algorithm was useful in the early 1800's it was revised later and became C/0*10^inf.

Touché lol :> Too bad Squeek's pompous statements were largely based on misinformation and ignorance whereas mine were largely based on being extremely pissed off last night after reading this thread. Sorry about the bad delivery, but my comments still stand.

And no matter the number of groupings of Zero there is, it will still add up to Zero.
Thread over.
That's only true if infinity is a number.
Infinity is not a number.
Believe what you like, but the infinity we're talking about is NOT a number, so your rule cannot apply. We don't know what infinity is. It's a concept. And it has its own rules. Infinity * anything = infinity. You have just decided to resolve the conflict of two rules (0*anything = 0 and infinity * anything = +-infinity) by only following one of the rules, but what about the other?
I could say "Infinity times anything is infinity, obviously, so infinity times zero is still infinity" and it makes as much sense as what you said, mathematically. Practically, "infinity" is a number because "infinity" is just a really huge number, so you are right in that case.
In everyday life, infinity * 0 = 0, because infinity as a number is somewhat broken and not actually infinity, as I've said earlier, you might want to think of Graham's number instead of infinity. Graham's number is probably bigger than anything you're thinking of as infinity.
But mathematically, infinity * 0 is undefined, and it will never be anything but that. If you say elsewise you are wrong. Sorry. It doesn't matter how much sense it makes to you - it's still wrong. It doesn't have to be intuitive. Though it makes perfect sense to me.
