There are a lot of card booths at tournament locations that sell rare cards as cheap as the manufacturers do
The manufacturers of MTG and YuGiOh have never sold singles at any time at any price. They sell only packs and boxes.
There was actually a booth at one of the places I went to that made the cards you wanted right there and then as long as they didn't have a restriction on production amount.
Magic especially, if somebody was "making magic cards" on demand, they were counterfeit and if you got caught using them in a tournament you'd be disqualified and possibly banned from future competitive play. Magic cards are exclusively made in one facility called 'Carta Mundi'
There's a card shop in Toronto called Cyber City and tons of people get together there everyday to pretty much just play cards, and show you how to use tournament-ready decks right there, and are fair in pricing.
Cyber City doesn't even sell singles. They only sell packs, and I'm guessing they'll be as or slightly more expensive than 401 Games.
You probably thought it was quite expensive because you saw the price on the cards individually, and I must admit, some of them can reach as high as $80, but if you buy from tournament booths and card stores in bundles, you can get usually entire decks tournament-made & prepped for around $150-$200. as long as it's the right person.
Booths at GenCon (where there are the most vendors, full stop, of any event anywhere) you're going to get maybe 90% of the going price. They're a bit cheaper because they know they can move a TON of merch through 45000 attendees, but they're certainly not a -lot- cheaper, and I've never seen "bundles" of singles as a thing ever. You can buy packs a lot cheaper than singles, but packs are randomized and you may never see the cards you want from packs. I've also never seen "tournament ready" decks for Magic available for purchase. If you mean the pre-constructed products that Wizards makes, those are not tournament ready by the standards of professionals.
My relative plays magic the gathering professionally and has only spent $300 on decks, but he gets wrecked most of the time by people who have around $800-$1000 decks,
Then he doesn't play Magic professionally.
and that's mostly because their decks are made of search cards, 2for1 lands, and a lotus or two. Try looking up the price on lotuses in magic the gathering.
The only format in which Black Lotus isn't banned is Vintage, in which you can only use one, and it isn't a format supported by Wizards' formal tournament and prize structure, so it isn't actually possible to play Vintage professionally.
To play Modern or Standard professionally is going to cost you probably 1000 dollars a season. Standard has overall cheaper cards, but you'll need to replace them far more often as sets cycle out of the format. While there are a few tier 2 and maybe even tier 1.5 decks in Modern that are fairly budget (You can make Soul Sisters or Affinity fairly cheaply) most of the legitimately competitive decks that Tier 1 players and pro players are using, are going to require an initial investment of at least several hundred dollars.
it's a card game, spending $50-100 on a card game sounds reasonable to me
Until there are actual tournaments with actual cash prizes, I'd never spend more on this than on a single video game title that gave me as much enjoyment. Spending 50 bucks, and then even 5 or 10 per month afterwards seems perfectly reasonable if you're playing it for at least 5 or 10 hours a week.
In retrospect 2 of the cards from my starting hand were on the board at the end of the game and 1 of them was still in my hand. I was literally top decking the whole game lmfao

well if anything, the hearthstone scene isn't that big right now
WHICH MEANS if you can become top 16 legend player, you can get invited to blizzard invitationals - which would subsequently make you famous, skyrocketing your fame and possibly earning you more than any tournament winning could provide
Nice control warrior. I tried to play that for the shortest bit of time and then realized the deck doesn't work even slightly if you dont have legendaries lol

I agree, i ended up pulling a gold grommash, so i went for it. Im currently using my own version of the deck (Which was pulled from reynads pre updated deck). Mine is edited for playing against 75% hunters / 25% zoo. Only lost one game last night due to drawing. Had 4, 9 drops by turn 6, but its focus is just getting creatures out. I think it fairs very well against zoo as long as they dont pull both doomguards in the first 10-12 cards. This new version of hunter can be effective against control warrior, the popular build on ladder is running no bow, and no traps.
Im still considering cutting armor smith for another creature of similar value, it feels like thats the card i can part with. I dont like the board position that it gives, but i cant really sac the 4hp card. Either harvest golem or ive considered demolisher x2. Feels like i could get more value out of them. There was 1 game last night i got 3 armor off a armor smith and felt much safer at low heath. idk
If you want any of my deck lists, feel free to ask.
Add my battle tag Clasko#1541
P.S. I need to start working on updating my miracle rogue deck. I started running it with kobald(2 forms of spell damage) in place of pagle, but now the meta has changed slightly. Man now im just ranting on how i want to test more shit, between my 9-5 and my clients side work, i just dont have time...
It doesnt matter where you draw the line, everything leads to the same place... Over the line!
