    Re: MapleStory

I am both frugal and a packrat, so I pretty much only use items in cases of dire need. An in-game friend keeps telling me that it is more economical to use potions than to lose potential money by sitting around to rest... but no! I only use them if I am in great danger of dying (and sometimes even then I am too late >_>).

So I am basically with Omega on this one, except that I lack the inventory space to even keep one scroll for each town. Ugh, I am constantly out of inventory space thanks to my packrattiness.

As for level, I am 25 now. I really need to start PQing. I was trying to wait for some friends to catch up to me in level to do it, but at this rate it seems like I will outgrow PQs before that even happens. So, how is doing it with strangers? Is it still fun?

I always have 150+ return to town scrolls and 50+ Magic Rocks. Scrolls for step 1 of Mystic Dooring, and Rocks for step 2.

In terms of economics, you're only missing out on opportunity costs. The cost of a potion is saving time. I used to do that technique of waiting on my first Warrior in Beta. I was absolutely convinced that Warriors didn't need to use Health or Mana potions. I even maxed out HP Recovery (at the cost of level 10 slash blast) so I would take less time resting. Only used Power Strike and Slash Blast when I had MP to burn.

Needless to say, it took me 2 months to get to level 30.

PQing is the best way to make money. Not only that, sometimes the prizes are 50~100 packs of potions. You'll soon find out that it's a waste waiting if you PQ more often.

PQing with strangers is sometimes fun, but sometimes they can be annoying. Just kinda let stuff happen.

Time is money, which is why I laughed when Afro bought a bunch of green naps (super common thanks to hectors dropping them left and right) for 75k each, in hopes of reselling for 99,999..... Story: Met up and partied with Jo in Sleepywood. We went into the ant tunnel, bottom right. I'm at the crappy work location so the boss is around. Boss started to walk over, so I hopped up on that ladder that's at the very bottom. With that ladder, you have to get right to the very top, or a jumping zombie mushroom will knock you down. Of course, I only went halfway up.

I had the game minimized for a good 20 minutes, because the boss was just blabbing away (with stuff you usually think about with only yourself). Finally I look at a message that is blinking from Jo on MSN. I see the first one, and she's sending me the second one. I laugh and ctrl+alt+del Maple Story.

I knew I couldn't die. My avoid is high, I heal 22 every 10 seconds, and they do under 30 damage to me if I get hit. I logged back in when I was able to, and see that I have full health... rofl

But, thanks again Jo. That's really cute and sweet of you. A level 26 trying to protect and save her close level 85 friend. hehe... <3 Sorry for freaking you out.

Yeah, it is a waste of time to rest instead of using potions (as my friend said, you re-make the money it costs for potions in less time than it would take to heal)... but I am in no rush, especially with trying to wait for my friends to catch up to me, haha. If I still have fun, I don't need to be in a level race with the world.

                Re: MapleStory

What I used to do was do homework while playing MS. I would fight until my MP bottomed out and then I'd do a homework problem or two. By the time I came back my HP/MP would be full and I'd fight some more. It worked pretty well and I never had to buy potions, pretty much. Eventually I had such an excess of potions, and the things I fought (Jr. Grupins) were dropping more pots (+pots I got from EQ) than I would really need anyway so I decided I'd just start using potions a lot. Even now, I hardly ever have to use pots. I regain MP even when fighting Grupins (160mp, I absorb 40% of that (64) 30% of the time I shoot them, plus I regain almost 110 MP every 10 secs) so I never need MP pots. What I do is turn on MG until my MP gets lowish and then cancel it until my MP regains to almost full. That way I hardly use any white pots and I still never need mana pots either. It's ridiculous how many extra pots I have now. Sometimes I just go fight WWs and Tauros and such just to use up the excess. =P

My point is, if you're a mage (well, FP and Cleric, at least), don't worry about using pots now, cuz you'll have an assload of them later. Also, I get about 300 mesos for every Grupin I kill, plus I sell all the soft feathers and ores they drop, and I have to kill thousands of them to level, so it's easy to get millions every level just from training. Then if I get any good drops (tobis, crystal flower earrings, etc) that adds even more. I'll easily be able to get a scrolled DR if I keep at Grupins. xD

                Oh, speaking of good drops, anybody wanna sell a bunch of crap for me? I have like, 3 bronze platine tops and bottoms, crystal flower earrings (again XD), and I think another set of tobis still. I always get Oni to do it but I think he's kinda full with selling crap, and I hate to be a burden.... -___-;;
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

Bowman armor is so hideous. The lvl 15 armor is okay, and then it goes downhill until you hit lvl 30. I have an assload of mesos so I've been buying armor every 5 levels, even though I probably don't need to at all.
The level 30 armor for females looks promising ... Males are just ****ed as far as armor goes. All of it looks like peter pan, and then peter pan upgrades. :/

Yeah, the Bowman job is one of the more "cheaper" jobs that you have. I believe Mage (or Warrior) is the most expensive, seeing as you have to have all them MP pots I guess. Actually, I think the Warrior job is the most expensive.

Mages actually use less MP pots than any of the other classes. We have huge MP regen (I've been getting more than 100mp every 10 seconds for a few levels now...) and MP Eater (absorbs 40% of monster's MP 30% of the time, and it stacks in its own special way when you use mob attacks that hit multiple enemies). Clerics get heal so they barely ever need HP pots. I mean, read what I said up top about never needing pots. XD

As for who is most expensive, I'd say prolly sins. They have to buy insanely expensive crap just to be decent. It's kinda lame.
