Oh and Squeek, DK's forte is AoE. Try hitting 6 things or 3 things with your better attacks before you complain about how weak your DK is. That would be like a Bishop walking around using only Angel Ray and complaining about being weak. Yes, DKs might not be the best of the best, but they're on par with the other warriors when they have Berserk active.

Also: no duh Archers are outdamaging everything if they're getting +350 weapon attack. That's just retarded.
All warriors are losing the single-target and multi-target race.

My Dragon Roar does absolute **** for damage and my Polearm Fury does 40k max.

I've seen Arrow Rains / Eruptions doing 90,000 per hit. Most screen AOEs from mages do 99,000 or so per hit. Bandits can pull 100,000+ on most of their attacks. So yeah, it's just the warriors.

Also it might just be 150 atk. Still insane.

Also we had a character wipe because they thought the economy was going to **** so everyone started fresh. So I made a bandit, a sniper, and a mage.

Or longer. Many of us have been around going on multiple years now.

and then (after you spend REAL money on nexon cash that doesn't have any value) you usually find something better to do
Sorry, but you picked a very bad time to make the claim that NX Cash has no value. MTS allows you to purchase actual ingame items from other players using NX Cash, thus giving it the same sort of direct buying power that Mesos have had all of this time.

In addition, nice sentence structure, buddy. No, seriously. Nice.

And yeah, I've spent more money than just about anybody on this, and I still continue to find it worth my time because of the people around me. It doesn't matter if the game itself doesn't shine so bright, because the community is what really counts here.

......like.........interact with REAL people that actually can speak correctly.
All of my buddies speak "correctly" (that is, they don't use stupid shorthand, but they also don't follow normal formal practice like periods after sentences), even though many of them are actually speaking English as their second language.

Also, it is a fallacy to think that real life communication is inherently better than over the Internet. To be totally frank, my best friends in real life could best be classified as one step short of gangbangers. Is it better for me to be running around with them, breaking into Skateparks after hours? Some of them even have been known to break into cars and steal things. That's also not to mention that they all are or have done drugs quite a bit (and I'm not even counting alcohol here), and at least one of them even dealed at one point. In fact, I've lost touch with most of them as of late, but I'm pretty sure one of them is kicked out by both of his separated parents, living at another one's mother's house, and I'd also wager that at least 1 of them is currently in jail. Is that better than playing MapleStory and enjoying conversation with people I would never meet in real life just because of physical distance?

For the most part, it's a good game (as long as you like getting ks'ed by 12 year olds)
I haven't been KS'd seriously for like 2 years, no joke. Get beyond newb levels and it's not much of a problem unless you go around making enemies by doing naughty things.

          No.

Maybe in your version with broken Archers, but disregarding messed up broken-ness of your fake version, Warriors keep up just fine (with the exception of the un-Berserk'd DK).

My Dragon Roar does absolute **** for damage and my Polearm Fury does 40k max.
Dragon Roar is garbage. I was CLEARLY referring to Crusher and Fury.

Seriously, Squeek, you keep making it look like you NEVER played this game before.

Dude. Dragon's Blood adds 12 attack, and you want to compare DKs to Archers getting "only" 150 attack boost?

Do you understand how massive weapon attack is? Correct me if I'm wrong, but Onyx Apples (which are regularly used in boss runs) roughly double the damage output of Hermit/Nightlord, and that's only 100 weapon attack (which is actually only 80 more weapon attack than they have "normally").

Nicely put, but loosen up a bit! I posted that to be taken sarcastically.

I've been playing that game ever since it came out. You do get treated noobishly most of the time when you're level 1-25 (not to be precise), but it's just a game. I laugh when I see newbs get upset at themselves when they under kill and then die.

Anyways. To make this short. I wasn't bashing Maple Story. Sarcasm wasn't the best choice after all.

Forgot to mention. We can buy Onyx Apples from NPCs. And you knew we had Heartstoppers before that. No excuse.

My only point was that Snipe and all the other fourth job skills like it don't have cool timers. That's all I ever wanted to say. It makes the game more fun even if it destroys the balance.

Just looking at the top character lists, it's pretty obvious what most people are playing due to the imbalance. I don't even see a Thief in the top 30 and I see only one Warrior. The rest is all Bowmen and Magicians.

The point I'm trying to make is that the most I could ever do with my level 200 DK, even with Onyx, even with a perfect level 100 polearm (Chelbirds are insanely rare and now nonexistent after the wipe since they only drop from certain summoned bosses) was 60,000 damage. What's the point of having a slight AOE advantage when you only have it under 40% HP and still kill slower than the other classes regardless?

I don't even know what we're arguing about. But if it's about my knowledge of the game, it's pretty obvious I'm an idiot. I quit for TWO YEARS.

Edit: someone on Local's forums was trying to make the same point I am in this post: http://i29.tinypic.com/eth4dg.jpg

Protip: trying to play the "i was being ironic lol" card after being RIP AND TEAR'd is not the best choice.

Alternatively: irony works best when paired with other literary devices such as understatement or hyperbole.

It makes the game more fun even if it destroys the balance.
Yeah, I bet people playing from the other side of the table feel the same way. You act like the only purpose of balance is to make certain classes not be super amazing, and that's simply not the case. The purpose of balance is to make ALL CLASSES NOT SUPER AMAZING, AND THUS ON EVEN GROUNDS. I don't know why anyone would even want to play such a poorly balanced multiplayer game.

Because everybody gets three characters to choose from.

                    And you can delete characters.

With 1000x EXP, nobody cares if you make a tiny blunder because you won't need to spend hundreds of dollars to fix it. If you really care about it so much, you just delete the character and re-make it.

So far I've made a Bandit, an Assassin, a Hero, a DK, a Ranger, a Sniper, and a Bishop. Ice and Fire Mages never really worked out for me, and it's even less so with Local since status ailments don't work properly yet. Poison and Ice do nothing. None of the Charges work for Paladins.

                        cMS got Showa recently.

There has been a lot of debate about why we haven't gotten it. One of the ideas that keeps getting thrown around is that it's too violent to have human-monsters or the fact that they shoot guns at you.

Well, let me go back to cMS... they did get Showa. Just... with certain graphical changes...

By far the most hilarious nerf. XD

Looks like they replaced his gun with a CS claw. O_o
                        kendo sword becomes nunchaku

                        baseball bat becomes boxing gloves

                        sword becomes pico hammer

gun becomes cash shop animal claw

ps as a bonus, here is a screenshot of me in Showa in gMS before they fixed it to make you unable to get there:

(I would have been there on my main, but I was suffering from a bull**** glitch where I couldn't even log in on my Bishop at all)

Worth noticing: our monsters WERE NOT CHANGED when it was available. They had swords and guns and everything- they even had their vocal death sound (which has also been speculated as a reason why we haven't gotten it). Apparently, their sounds they make are Japanese analogues to English curse words.

I'm shocked that gMS doesn't have Showa. Even the private servers have released Showa and their files are based off gMS. However, I'm nowhere close to being able to take anything in Showa efficiently. My priest does too little damage with Magic Claw and must use Magic Guard to fight anything that deals over 1000 damage and my Bandit has too little hp to fight them without having to pot between every other attack.

That's not possible unless the private servers ADD TO THE CLIENT.

See, the MAP DATA for showa was only JUST added with the most recent patch. Now, it is physically possible to get there using Fruit Milks, but the PORTAL DATA is still not IN THE CLIENT yet.

In addition, the NPCs in Showa are lacking their client side data, although I'm not sure if the functions that are truly important (such as being able to sell items or take players to the dungeon) are server side.

Regardless, the data for the maps was only just added, so you have no right saying anything.

Wow, for someone so intelligent you are incredibly unaware of the workings of the private servers.
If the map data is there, you can get there on a private server. Example, the TitanMS open source project uses .XML files to code maps. If you code in the showa maps using the other XML files as an example, there is no reason as to why you can't get to Showa.
Showa's been in the data for quite a whiles anyway.
Hunting for tobis will do this to you.
