wow because cel-shaded link is a huge improvement
Maybe if they, you know, gave him A SINGLE DIFFERENT MOVE.Comment

Re: !
Mr. Game and Watch and Ice Climbers should've been kept. They were original characters. Younk Link out is not cool considering all the other duplication which is a lot worse than young link. Bowser Jr. is gay. Ridley would be great in there. As far as more characters I think instead of people like Cel-shaded link and Bowser Jr. you should add more F-Zero characters.Originally posted by MrESqueekhttp://www.joystiq.com/2006/06/07/ru...-ridley-others
Rumor.
In: Cel-Shaded Link, Bowser Jr., Ridley.
Out: Young Link, Mr. Game and Watch, Ice Climbers.

There are only two differences between Link and Young Link: one's shorter, and one has arrows that are ON FIRE.
If you think that's good enough to merit him being kept, lock yourself in a closet with a rabid bear.Comment

They'll probably make Cel-Shaded Link similar to Young Link except with his Wind Waker items.

Re: !
A main thing I liked about Link was his ^B shot people outwards on the final hit, and somewhat hard. Link's just made them spiral inside, and that's not very fun, in my opinion, especially when you're trying to prevent someone from landing on the edge.Comment

Funniest part is the fire didn't even do any more damage than Adult Link's arrows.Originally posted by TokzicHAHAHAHAHA

One thing Squeek forgot to mention is the fact that Young Link could wall-jump, but who the hell wall-jumps other than in Fourside or the Target game?
Oh and his Boomerang had more control and close-range power (whacking the enemy with it rather than tossing it at them), but that's pretty much it.
OH and his bombs hit more than once, like it mattered since it did the same amount of damage...Quack quack quackComment

dude, you just supported my argument. He is a hell of a lot different than Link, expecially comparing Pikachu and Pichu.Originally posted by ducky285Funniest part is the fire didn't even do any more damage than Adult Link's arrows.

Didn't post it to support the fact that he's different, but to make the point that Young Link's differences are pretty much moot since they're not any better than Adult Link's abilities.Originally posted by MCRenaissancedude, you just supported my argument. In fact, many of those differences aren't even that noticeable. You have to play in Training Mode to tell the bombs hit more than once, and hitting an opponent close up with the boomerang isn't a commonly used move unless you're lucky or have expert timing. Don't get me started on the wall-jumping. Who even uses wall-jumps?
One advantage he does seem have is that his down air appears to be a lot more powerful than Link's. But my memory fails to accurately support that.Quack quack quackComment

Re: !
Corneria, Great Fox, under the dorsal fin: Wall-jumping off the fin, then double-jumping backwards, then quick-falling to land. Much faster way to get back to the upper level than any character could possibly do by jumping alone, aside from Falco, especially if you're chasing a runner. If the character I'm using can wall-jump, that's how I get up there everytime. Other than that, I can't really think of a practical use for them.
Just to point out, it would be a shame if they got rid of any of the deluxe characters. All of them were distinctly different from their host character, and I myself preferred Ganondorf over the Capt. Besides, it would make so many people upset. Not like they wouldn't buy the game for that reason, though.
One last thing: They really, REALLY need to put Sonic in this game. Just Sonic, nobody else but Sonic. A lot of people have come to associate Sega with Nintendo since the downfall of the Dreamcast, and I think that Sonic would simply fit better than Snake would. And Ridley? He's retardedly large for a game like this. I just hope it doesn't turn into a third-party mess in an attempt to please fans, and they forget about balance*cough*FOX!*cough*.Comment

Re: !
Sonic would NOT have enough character-specific moves. If they did, they'd be complete BS too... just random punches. or spins. Plus, they already talked about sonic a few pages back... go check.
But Ridley.... no. Flying, large, crazy monsters are not for smash bros games. they just don't fit the feel of the game.
And young link sucks either way. In SSBM, he had very few moves that would send the opponent, and really none that sent them far. all that the cel-shaded one would do is make him look childish while he's sucking.Comment

Re: !
The switch out regarding ice climbers, and Mr. Game & Watch is good news.
I'll miss young link, but I'll get over that when I play as cel-shading link. Cool
Ridley seems like he would be fun, I think they would make winged characters
like kirby and whatnot, but a third jump only could be a possibility.
I'm really not liking the Jr. Bowser thing. What kind of moves could he really have that would be all that great?

Re: !
To my specifications, I would believe that 25%-50% of the characters in SSB:B will be clones, like how Ganondorf was a clone of Capt. Falcon in SSB:M. And by clones, I mean two characters having the same type of moves in a different type of style.
EDIT: I wonder if you'll be able to wavedash in this game... hmm...Comment

I sincerely hope they remove this retarded means of battle.Originally posted by IAAWEDIT: I wonder if you'll be able to wavedash in this game... hmm...
Yes, I can do it. No, I don't do it. It's a waste of effort and it hurts. It's also totally not the way to play at all.
Maybe it's just me still being pissed at the people who organize SSBM tournaments for being so biased against a lot of the aspects of SSBM that make it fun. Example, remove all items.
