ngl I'm really excited for Eine Kleine Funkmusikk, I love that kind of jazzy organ-heavy funk jam, the song is incredibly steppable and tons of room for fun interpretation

I'm really happy that M0nkeyz was the one to do it, because it's showing that he's growing increasingly comfortable with things outside of his perceived comfort zone. He did a respectable job.

I do hope people enjoy it; I think it was a solid interpretation.

Thanks, the song was actually really fun to step, so many little things you can do to make instruments/melodies stand out. It also has a nice pace so it never felt sluggish to me.

Also sent fixes for Smash and Burn

            Chronomia (DarkZtar) [6.5/10]
Song Artist: Lime -- Perms: OK

            - 12.743 to 21.201: jump patterning can better follow the piano pitch with some minor tweaks
            - 20.760: I can understand having a 12th note minijack when using a triple to accent for the brass, but there’s a bit of space to clean up the bursts a bit
            - 24.373: ^
            - 25.232/26.241/(etc): missing note for the same thing you’re following in the following 16ths - there are a bunch of these
            - 41.289 to 46.575: jump usage in this section starts as exclusively percussion but seems to change to something that’s not the most discernible, take a look at it again and make sure you’re accenting what it is that you want to
            - 42.478: starts as 24ths, until 42.611
            - 43.536: not hearing any 24ths here
            - 55.562: remove triple
            - 1:00.452: pretty abrasive pattern for something that’s barely audible
            - 1:06.663: should be 48ths
            - 1:11.950 to 1:37.924: verify your jump usage and make sure you’re accounting for the things you intend on accenting, as there are noticeable inconsistencies (accented w/o melody: 1:12.214, 1:16.443, 1:20.672 - missing at various places; unnecessary jumps: 1:14.461, 1:18.690; etc) -- overall, I feel like the jump usage is too heavy and doesn’t have enough focus
            - 1:18.293: missing jump
            - 1:30.056: missing jump for kick here; this appears to be the only instance that is missing where you have 24ths for the hi-hat blips so it doesn’t really violate a rule more than once that you’ve established
            - 1:32.434: missing jump for guitar
            - 1:44.659: not quite right, but it works since there’s not much else going on
            - 1:52.522: you accommodate for the swing in the percussion earlier on, you should do it here as well
            - 2:12.743: a bunch of missing percussion here
            - structure is alright, but needs a bit more clarity at times
            - a few minor rhythm checks can also be done

            Exam Cram (ilikexd) [8/10]
Song Artist: Rushjet1 -- Perms: OK

            - 57.892: not a big fan of changing the layering in the middle of a musical phrase like this; that being said - even with that change, this first jump is unnecessary
            - 1:04.270 to 1:17.026: I understand the jump placement, but I imagine most aren’t going to think that the change in key merits those abrupt jump accents
            - 24th patterning gets a little nasty in the first half of the final stream, but I do appreciate that you’re able to maintain that arpeggiated style patterning
            - chart could take a bit more effort into making deviated pitch relevance to not repeat the same exac patterning structure as the opening
            - good chart overall

kiss the sexy robot ultimate championship 201X!!! (VisD) [8.5/10]
Song Artist: nitro -- Perms: OK (CC-BY-NC)

            - the only qualm that I really have with this file in general is the occasional lack of agreement in jump representation between kicks and snares, where some instances the same jump is used for both percussive elements (11.475/12.075, 15.875/16.274)
            - jump pitch relevance for melody can be improved at times as well (18.875/19.275, 24.275/24.675, 28.175/28.475, etc.)
            - 55.875: nice balance!
            - 1:35.974: ghost note
            - 1:52.174: missing note here
            - 1:52.724: not quite hearing this 32nd at any speed
            - 2:01.774: missing note for bass
            - this song and file slap, good shit.

looming shadow of a tree long gone (EzExZeRo7497) [9.5/10]
Song Artist: goreshit -- Perms: OK

            - very literally nothing to point out; layering is crystal clear, patterns are very well structured, all percussion is accommodated for
            - chart is exceptionally regimented, misses nothing and does a good job providing a solid challenge without any surprises - excellent work!

            Railing (ositzxz369) [8/10]
Song Artist: Nvoise -- Perms: OK

            - 20.350: because this snare buzz actually gets cut off, it would look better chart-wise if this last 32nd was removed (making it only a three note burst)
            - 25.850: ghost note
            - 34.696/35.157/(etc): pretty noticeable missing notes for the drum breaks as well
            - 27.157 to 46.850: there are a lot of noticeable missing notes for various parts of the drum breaks, mostly hi-hats (you accent 27.696, 28.927, 29.081 but miss 29.234/29,542, etc) and occasional cymbal rides that come an 8th after a cymbal crash (34.696, 35.157, etc)
            - 35.465: this is actually a pretty nasty burst given the sound(s) you’re following; additionally, 35.504 is a ghost note
            - 48.388: another instance of a short buzz that has two very distinct separations, so having it as all one blip is a bit off visually
            - 49.157: should be 24ths instead
            - 52.350: remove 32nd
            - 1:27.119: same deal with the short buzzes
            - 1:28.234: trill is not quite right here, there’s some finer sequencing here that is a bit more complex than simple alternating
            - very interesting ending
            - solid chart; good enough as is but could use some tiny bits of cleanup here or there
            - imo, your best file to date

Just a heads up that I'll still look through looming shadow again to see if there are minor things that I'd like to improve (mostly the type of chord for very specific chords and maybe the white note accents before the bass kicks). I'll keep you updated if there are changes. Thanks for the strong accept though

2nd Draft of Railing is submitted. I addressed the other notes except this one. I slowed it down to 10%, and the sound syncs exactly to the four 32nds.

                        Good Life (AutotelicBrown) [6/10]
Artist: litmus -- Perms: OK (BOF)

                        - nice pitch relevance in opening
                        - 16.322: feels like it’s just the remnants of the percussion a 16th before; might not merit a note being here
                        - 30.860: looks like the only instance where you have a note that doesn’t land on a hi-hat, vocal, or something else; however, it’s permissible to leave here given that it’s in a build up
                        - 31.899 to 44.822/44.822 to 46.207: also cute.
                        - 1:58.207/1:58.553: pretty glaring missing notes (they show up as a result of combined layering in the second half at 2:12.976/2:13.322)
                        - 2:07.514: remove
                        - so… 46.668 to 1:13.437/1:46.207 to 1:58.437: the first section here has some noticeable copy pasting and when cross-checking, so please add a bit more deviation to it. continuing more specifically the first mentioned section, the jump usage feels really strange. I ran through both sections a good at least ten times (no exaggeration) trying to figure things out, and it never really came to me.
----- I initially tried seeing if maybe there was some direct layering in play, but there’s multiple instances where two synths or a synth + percussion land and not all of them are jumps.
----- I noticed somewhat of an accenting contour with the percussion that does three jumps and then a space before two consecutive opposing 16th jumps, but it gets interrupted every two measures with a 4th + 16th combo that feels strange
----- the bass and synth occasionally collide but don’t consistently make jumps either
----- the only thing that’s pretty clear is the usage of triples and the occasional 192nd for the synth, really.
                        - once the second set of streams started at 1:46.207, I saw similar nuances with jumps for certain melody accents but missing for others
                        - structure is a bit too hard to follow in this chart and it feels inconsistently heavy to me at times.
                        - chart is very redundant and can definitely use some more pattern variation.

Gym Leader Battle Music [Hi Tech Remix] (M0nkeyz) [6.5/10]
Artist: The Musical Ghost -- Perms: OK (CC-BY-SA 3.0)

                        - 2.286/(etc): repetition is nice, but the pitch relevance can be improved while still maintaining that repetition (something like [L][U][R][U] allows you to catch the melody properly while also keeping the jacks separated)
                        - 4.251: complete the phrase in this measure before switching the sequence; it’ll play a little better in terms of progression
                        - 30.527: jump feels a bit out of place simply being the remnants of the sound before
                        - 31.355: this jump feels alright, though
                        - 43.148: minijacks don’t properly represent the bass here all the time, there are some instances of changing if you listen carefully
                        - 55.872: should also be white
                        - 56.839 to 1:07.976: pitch relevance can definitely be a bit better in this breakdown overall
                        - 1:09.838: missing note for vocal sample
                        - 1:10.510: also a missing note for vocals
                        - 1:26.182 to 1:52.665: in general, jumps are missed for the main melody which appears to be the main layering element here
                        - 1:27.734: missing note for bass
                        - 1:28.562: this is a repeated note for the melody, so it should likely be at least a jump since it’s defensible for direct and accented layering (it lands with a bass which could pass it as a jump but it’s also a melodic element which also seems to be jumps for this section)
                        - 1:30.941/etc: this jump should be moved to the 16th below for following the melody
                        - 1:35.079/etc: jump placement can be improved with respect to the melody as well
                        - 1:51.528/etc: i’d not place jumps on the 16ths until 1:52.355, where the kick actually lands there; an alternating jump/note/jump/note that makes a trill works a bit more nicely visually
                        - 2:05.907: very nice spot for a repeating motif
                        - 2:19.562: give the other wub a better accent; having it as 24ths makes it feel connected when it should be disjointed (maybe a brief 32nd blip or something)
                        - 2:42.321: ^, similar instance but in a different application, it feels like one fluent motion when there’s two very distinct sounds
                        - this song slaps pretty good, especially in the ending
                        - chart needs some cleaning up, but it’s not a bad foundation

                        - 3.616/3.692/3.767: clearly audible missing piano notes
                        - 5.350/etc: more clearly audible notes not represented
                        - 8.968/10.777/etc: remove? You may have missing notes if you’re actually trying to follow the bass, so check again (8.968 should be removed no matter what); additionally, if your intent is to follow the string that plays every two beats, you’re also missing stuff - sort out whatever it is you’d like to follow
                        - 15.074/15.149: should these be jumps? should the jump at 14.923 be removed? neither fall with a vocal
                        - 17.561: repeat here stands out of place (the one at 18.918 isn’t much better, but is mildly acceptable given the vocal)
                        - 22.310/(etc): missing jump? some jumps appear to be missing with regards to snare accenting and I don’t think we’re at a difficulty structure where omission is really necessary/acceptable
                        - 22.461: missing note for higher string
                        - 30.677: should be 48ths?
                        - 32.486 to 39.722: this part just feels… very strange. It’s not clear what the line of relevance and following any one or pair of elements doesn’t quite line up to something that is sensible with what you’ve got here.
                        - 40.400: missing piano note
                        - 41.531: 16ths are incorrect here, listen carefully
                        - 42.812: missing note for piano
                        - 58.189: another missing piano note
                        - 1:13.340: strings play 48ths here
                        - 1:17.812: missing piano note
                        - 1:29.622/1:33.993: remove if we’re sticking only to vocals
                        - 1:35.275/1:36.481: missing piano notes
                        - 1:48.164: pretty noticeable snare here that’s not accounted for
                        - 1:49.295: remove jump
                        - 1:51.029: should be 24ths
                        - 1:53.591: jump feels a bit out of place, even though it can be argued as correct
                        - 1:57.712: remove jump
                        - 1:58.566: technically this creates a polyrhythm, so I can understand the omission here but there’s a synth note in between the percussion that’s missed here
                        - lots of minor missing notes; a few inconsistencies in structures
                        - structure is ok, but kinda uninteresting at times

                        RENDEZVOUS (bmah) [8.5/10]
Artist: roop loves tigerlily -- Perms: OK (BOF)

                        - offset is a touch off (changed to -0.052); that being said, there’s some strange sampling going on that makes it weave in and out of a few milliseconds no matter what number you use, and BPM changing makes it drift unreliably, but it seems like -0.052 gets you the closest overall
                        - 1.848/16.848/etc: 24th is a touch late for that snare - the other snares in the subsequent sections are fine, it’s just the transitions like these
                        - 38.020: not quite hearing this trill here
                        - 39.075: noticeable percussion instrument
                        - 54.427 to 1:09.427: A+ execution
                        - 1:26.184/etc: there’s a gentle swing on these notes; 16ths aren’t quite right - not a huge deal left that way, just an accuracy thing
                        - 1:27.473/etc: you move the 8ths around to follow the cutoff synths here, but like this spot - there are a few instances where you keep the same step repeating despite different pitches
                        - 1:41.126: missing 32nd for this grace note
                        - 1:45.637: missing repeated note for chip
                        - good chart; errors are very minor

Sakura Fubuki (Arrange Ver) (Ghost_Medley) [6.5/10]
Artist: Street - Perms: OK (BOF)

                        - 39.823: aw, I liked the back and forth you had with the mini-trills for the hi-hats, why’d you stop? I understand terminating at 41.023 of course, but you still had a bit of room to play with.
                        - 46.680: might have been a deliberate rhythm reduction here, but just to let you know - this technically is the jump and then a three-note 64th burst
                        - 47.194: i’m not entirely sure why the jump is here; the lack of clarity on this jump might make it more acceptable for the 32nd before it to have a jump since it serves as repetition on the jumps for the snares
                        - 49.594: not sure why these triples are different compared to the previous ones
                        - a few questionable jumps in the first jump off of percussion, but overall well executed; BPM reduction for the drop is actually a decently stylistic choice for this song
                        - 1:23.794: pretty noticeable missing note for the piano
                        - 1:28.166: I’m curious behind why you chose to omit the first note in each four note sequence here, and only here in this slower section
                        - 1:35.537: missing notes? This melody is what’s getting accented and it’s pretty noticeably missing notes
                        - 1:37.166/1:37.337: more missing notes
                        - 1:39.394: missing note here as well
                        - 1:45.651 to 2:29.537: structure has some noticeable inconsistencies:
-------- hi-hat representation is present in some spots, not present in others; initially I wondered if melodic presence was dictating it but there are times where it’s ignored and the synth isn’t playing a melody on/around it
-------- it appears that the piano accent that intermittently shows up is only accented partially, which makes the overall structure in this last section feel heavier than it is given that kicks and snares are usually taking the most precedence in accenting: 1:48.223 is a single note when the piano + synth plays, but 1:49.594 is a jump when the piano + synth play, both of which have no percussion on it; 1:53.709: jump w/ P+S, no percussion, 1:55.080: single w/ P+S, no percussion - etc.
                        - 2:15.394: missing note for pitch bend, which seems to be more prevalently accented in the second half of this final section
                        - 2:18.051: this completely deviates from earlier accenting with the two jumpjacks and alternating jumps quite a bit; the earlier instance that featured a tailing minijack was also different but the structure was played almost the same, so this is a bit off
                        - i’d definitely like to see this fixed up, because the first half is actually respectably well done

I'm taking the 16th off from judging to just give myself a bit of a break. I'll go back on the sets of 5 again starting the 17th and try to continue forward again at the same pace.
