I agree with everyone here. other games such as guitar hero (gh3) or rock band, or even DDR (dance dance revolution) will improve your reading skills. if your already good at those games, ffr shouldn't be a problem for you.

i also suggest switching the way the notes come at you, to going down then up.

I just recently reached the next level of skill. I've found that you can keep up with almost anything if you, not be too frantic on the keyboard the more you flail the more it slows down your refire rate on key presses it takes a long time to master this. What I mean is keep your fingers always on the buttons but don't lift your fingers try to keep them on the buttons constantly (trust me its harder then it sounds). But once you can master this, you'll see amazing improvement in speed and control (perfect attack). And always stay calm if your frantic you'll revert back into mashing which gives goods/greats.

Ive been playing for 3 weeks. My best advice would be to sit down with a bong and get wrecked. Then , dont watch the bottom, but slightly above it. You can interpret the arrows better. Practiced the right way, it works.

Re: How to get better at FFR

I've got a tip that might be useful for beginners.

If you're starting to play songs of Standard level and struggling with those multiple arrow patterns, where you have to press two buttons at a time, I know a great practice song for these.

Go to Rock category and browse page 2 and on the bottom left hand corner you'll find a song called Koala In The Spider's Web by Machinae Supremacy. Yeah it's a Tricky song, but it's great practice for those double arrow patterns and it's also an instrumental track so the stepfile is purely synced to the music, not singing.

I hope this helps out someone, because I found the song really good for the use mentioned.

Alternatively, if those are too fast, you can also do Straight to Video--also on page 2 of Rock. Great jump practice.

If tough rhythms are bringing you down, Improvisation Et Chien is an AMAZING song to practice; it keeps you attentive since the song doesn't have a defined rhythm. You can find this one in Misc--page 4.

this was an interesting guide, i just skimmed through it. Most people rly use 2 hands? that's rly lame, i just put my button configuration on "YXCV" (german keyboard), it gets hard to rapidly push with my pinky and my ring finger but i'm getting better at it. And also the game is about fun not winning, going 2 hands defeats the purpose in my opinion. U also don't get alot of finger training that way.

There are various different styles of gameplay, all of them have their ups and downs. Playing with two hands (spread) is the most popular. I don't see how it takes the fun out of the game, it just makes it less challenging.
