EVERY MMO IS TEDIOUS.

That's why I quit playing MMOs.

At least WoW tries not to be tedious. You can almost get to level 70 purely by doing quests. You have to spend a few levels grinding EXP. But any other game? Completely tedious after a certain point. In Maple, the grind begins around level 20-25 and never stops being hard. 5-hour levels begin here. 10-hour levels begin in the 40s/50s. 15-hour levels are 70/80. Just keep going up. In Trickster, it was level 80 where the grind began as quests could no longer carry you. In 2moons, it's just odd. You grind to a specific level to do an instance where you can gain ridiculous EXP, then get a few levels from that, then go back to grinding, then get to a new instance, then grind, and eventually you've spent 300 hours and you're maybe level 70.

MMOs take the "I want to 100% this game no matter what it takes" aspect and spread it out even further. And for people like me who love to 100% games, they suck you in so fast that you'll never see it coming.

Squeek, you clearly haven't been keeping up on things.

I'm 122 and I can get a level in ~5 hours of grinding. Half that time if I use a 2x card.

And when 4th job comes out, and my DPS triples thanks to Genesis, I imagine I'll be getting somewhere in the neighborhood of 40%~50% an hour on normal exp.

But yeah, it's a lot easier to get exps now.

EDIT: Oh yeah, about MMO tediousness: I don't think Diablo 2 ever gets tedious. At least not as far as leveling is concerned. Maybe trying to get a specific drop is tedious, but it's generally not tedious at all to level. If you just play the game normally you level really quickly, and if you go out of your way to "grind" some levels you gain levels REALLY quickly. Sure, D2 isn't a true MMO, but I'd say it's the closest thing possible to an MMO at the time. And still, D2 did a much better job than any game (that I've played) is doing today.

I would be killing them before they can even get poisoned a lot of the time, even if you drop mists everywhere.

I could split with you or something though. I do believe that I've heard that skele works relatively well to split a FP and a bishop.

Really, even if I was getting purely leech exp I think it'd be worth it. Given the 2-3 second casttime of Genesis (I dunno it exactly, but it's at least >1 sec), Mist would at least poison things before they died and let me leech, regardless of level differences. Pure leech exp from skelegons would still beat a good party somewhere "appropriate" for my level. Mainly I'd just wanna rush to the point that I could be using Meteo in a similar way. =P

What does it matter if it's slightly easier to level now? I've heard tons of stories about it. Before I quit, I was level 73, at that time, it took a good 9-11 hours total for me to grind a level, and that was fast compared to many others. I came back after third jobs were released and I parted with xSakura and I made 60% in two hours. Yes, leveling is easier, but it's still grinding.

My Laharl only scratched the surface of level 4000

After level 2000 or so it just becomes annoying. Even with 300 Statisticians and maxed Stronger Enemies, you're only gaining 3 levels every kill.

I was one-shotting 9999s in random item worlds because that's all there is left to do.

Also I bought Disgaea 2 and after I beat it figured I'd skip the grind this time and just made a handful of 9999 Nekomatas and rofl owned the game. I'm following the max stats formula, so I've stolen Arcadia and I'm about to steal the Accelerator.

The problem is the guy who made this game is apparently a huge fan of tedious work. The FAQ for max stats / post-game things says it'll basically take 300 hours of your life to do it all.

I've all but returned to finishing up my Unknown difficulty run of Tales of the Abyss.

Actually i have been on alot lately lol, but i had to do my math homework with my friend today. (gonna try to get him to play maple) and i reached 120 tonight on pap. (didnt set my stats for about an hour or so lol forgot.
