I meant a couple hours TOTAL, meaning by the end of the game there is time where you have just been standing there due to having to take out the trash or eating, things like that. However, i am not as much of a hardcore gamer as i used to. Now i only play for a couple hours at a time and i occasionally leave it on because i left to a friends house, came home an hour or two later and then saved (to make sure, in case i forgot to before i left) then turned it off. You should no means be leaving it on for days or weeks at a time (unless the memory card thing which is understandable) because that endangers it from overheating and things like that. Sometimes overnight is ok too because on other games i have been known to fall asleep WHILE i was playing them =P.
In any case, the ps2 is THE ONLY system that i have not had a problem big enough to even consider getting a new one. My gamecube had a massive problem recognizing games, my xbox basically blew up because of the faulty powercord, my DS got totally waterlogged (completely my fault though...), and my 64 has problems turning on. Come to think of it, its the only system save my psp and gameboy that i havent had to replace.

How the HELL do you fill up an entire memory card and not have something worthy of deleting?

There aren't even that many worthy games on the system as a whole that need to stay on memory. In fact, there aren't on any system.

        Semi spoiler:

I liked the final boss. I just think it's gay when bosses have multiple forms. In this case it wasn't really all that bad. I still think they could have made Steroids look a little better.

I can't buy them yet. I'd assume you have to be of a certain clan rank.

I've been going at the hunts a bit. I have like 12 done. I can tank just about anything at level 60 now, and most enemies can't damage me. The level 5 hunts are a joke, the enemies do 0 damage to me...and I have so many level 3 and 4 hunts I havn't done I just want to get to the hard ones.

I think maybe it's the armor I have on. I found a secret merchant in the necrohol that sells so pretty nice stuff. It doesn't appear to be the best armor in the game according to the liscence grid, but it's pretty hot.

Attack does like, 7000-9000 on weaker enemies, 1000's-5000's on harder enemies. Not sure where to get the best weapons in the game, my attack power is like 110 I think.

Question: Do stats actually rise with level? I'm kind of confused here, because the stats on hte 'status' page do not appear to rise as I level up. The only thing that actually appears to be rising is hp. To back this up, I can equip my level 10 party with the same stuff I have on and their stats are the same. Havn't tested them out in the battle field though to see how much damage they do/take, I might do that later.

IF so then what's the point of leveling up after you have access to the best armor? :S

I'd like to knwo the answer to this before I level up anymore, as it takes time at this point.

Man, Reach, relax with the typos.

Anyway, odds are the point of the high HP when you have the best armor is just for fighting those extra-hard and obscure secret bosses, along with having a feeling of completion.

Reach, isn't one of the best weapons in the game the Zodiac Spear? You can only get it if you DON'T open some randomly placed chests throughout the game, pretty early chests too.

Its EXTREMELY possible for a pack rat of data like me. I dont generally take my games and sell them back to gamestop or whatever like most of the people i know do and since i like to keep all saved files for the games i own, it tends to fill up fast.

In any case, i am really getting sidetracted off of FFXII now that i just got twilight princes and FFIII for the ds... Basically to answer your question though, the zodiac spear is the best weapon in the game and its true that you cant open certain chests so if you opened even one of the selected ones then you are plum outta luck.

In any case, i wanna know how much you really have to grind in the game because i dont want to float through the game and then have massive problems with the final few bosses (which i had to deal with on FFVIII =\). I really do think i worry too much about leveling up and getting my license grid done early on in the game and i think it is holding me back from actually wanting to play the game on a constant basis. Whenever i think, "hmm... what game do i wanna play" i always think "FFXII? naw too many battles to deal with." "Twilight princess? Yeah, shooting a gremlin dude from super far away with a bomb arrow sounds fun". Im not saying i dont absolutely love FFXII, im just thinking that i may be putting too much effort in.

                Re: FFXII

Reach, I believe the status is split into two parts, one where the stats won't rise because it depends on what you have equipped, for example attack power and defense, but the others, such as strength should be rising with level.
I've been leveling up, I haven't moved on with the story line, not to mention I'm not even halfway through the game and I got the weapon "Deathbringer", which has attack +90 and equipped with auto death. Pretty neat, managed to steal it from a rare game monster called Ithuno.
On another note, I forgot that teleport crystals can be bought on the airship that travels from Rabanastre to Brujerba; I've been putting off hunts and side quests because I only had two left. Looks like I have a ton of stuff to do now.
I also got the esper in the Zernitian Caves. It was kind of hard due to the fact that I was only level 30 when I got him, and it took about 10 tries before I was able to put together a decent quickening chain with both of my parties.
Other than that, I don't feel like moving on with the story line yet, I like getting ahead of things while I can =).

I type at about 110 words per minute, and seeing as this is the general gaming forum I don't even bother reading over what I've written XD

                  Have an enjoy typo please.

And scorpio, I don't know because I'm not using a guide to play this game, but it appears based on the liscence board the zodiac spear is the best weapon. I'm not sure how to get it though, and since I never use guides on first playthroughs I probably opened those chests.

I also need to play around and see what stats are actually increasing with level then, to see if it's worth the effort. It takes like, ~150,000 exp to level up at this point. Not that bad I suppose for one level, but if you add up the net effect of gaining several, with addition to the rapid increase in needed exp, the time adds up. It'll probably take 500,000 a level when nearing 99.

edit: I didn't feel a lot of grinding was necessary in this game. Unlike a few final fantasies, you actually do have to put time into leveling up to get through the game, but it's not excessive. Generally just killing enemies as you explore an area getting to the next is enough if you are a smart player. I've personally noticed that leveling up in itself isn't very helpful. What actually makes you stronger is what magics/items/equipment you have, but they do make you work for those in this game, as new stuff is usually expensive and gil is hard to come by.

When im talking about grinding i also mean getting LP points and doing the license board for every character.

If you get a little more than a quarter way through the game they have an accessory called "Gold Amulet" which doubles your LP for the character equipped with it. It's not all that terrible, I have 3/4's off all my characters LP boards filled and I'm about halfway through.

I believe you can find it in any protectives shop after you reach Mt Bur-Omisace. I think you could also get it in the bazaar. Also, I think there is also an accessory that doubles EXP, but I'm not sure where to get that.

It's easier to beat that final boss lady at a lower level, because the levelling system in that game is really gimped up.

                              EDIT:

I also leave my PS2 on for long stretches, and the only problem it has is with actual DVD's (not DVD games) because I stepped on it one time and had to get the laser replaced. I'm planning on getting a slim one anyways because I don't want to risk Rogue Galaxies messing up.
