    Re: FFXII

I'm in giruvegan now. It looks like I'm pretty close to the end of the game, as I just beat some boss that had to have probably 250,000+ hp. I was in some crazy crystal - sky - floating place but got lost and ended up back at the start XD

    Level 50, 33 hours.

And I think it was windburst that did 25,000 damage, so I'd like to see what my characters would do with black hole ^^

    mild spoilers and strategy:

The boss in the fagwood is rather difficult, because if he hits you with this attack that casts disease/sap/confuse/every status effect there is in the game on everyone, you basically die. He also drains ALL of your magic power, so curing your guys with magic is useless and reviving them leaves you with 1 hp because of disease. But he has like no hitpoints, probably 75,000, so just haste all and slug him to death - and restart until he doesn't use it at the beginning. And then he'll start running and calling for backup, which is basically a dozen malabros, but just keep slugging him and he should die before they kill you.

I also recommend hammers for slugging. They deal huge amounts of damage at this point int eh game, unless you have some sort of better weapon I'm not aware of. I'm getting about 2000 average damage, maximum of 4000 at level 50.

Cid is a piece of cake if you have curaja or whatever the final cure is. Just have two people whore the rooks and have one person cast that every turn. Also, have the liscence for damage --> mp conversion so you don't run out of mp and he's cake. Don't hit him until the rooks are gone.

The bosses in giruvagen can also be beaten with the same technique. One boss does some ~2000 damage to everyone, but just stick with the tactic and he'll fall before you're out of MP. It's almost BS, the final cure is severely overpowered while hasted because the bosses can't attack fast enough to kill you (assuming they don't rely on status inducing effects, but I havn't had that problem yet other than the boss mentioned above).

      Re: FFXII

There's only 3 or 4 bosses with over 200,000 life in the main quest.

You just finished one of them (I'm pretty sure.) It had like 203,000. There's another with 208,000 and the final boss has something like 230,000.

Just thought I'd let you know.

I really don't want to play through that damn dungeon again to try to win again, either. =/ I could definitely win if there was actually a SAVE somewhere near him. damn you square. WHY would you not put a save before a boss? Just to piss everyone off?

        ...urg XD

ps 26 hours, level 37 (was 38 but alas I lost all of that exp and stuff I gained )
Wow, when i was that level i was waay far behind where you were... I think i was just entering the Henne Mines, i guess im grinding just a little too much. However, you know those caves that has the huge optional thunder/whirlwind esper? Well i did manage to beat him while under level 40, it was waay freaking hard but i guess my grinding payed off.

You know... its a lot easier to go into the sandsea areas and just kill the same guys over and over getting a huge combo level. I actually got a 200 combo in the sandsea, ill post the pic i took of it once i learn how to transfer it from my phone to my computer to this computer =\.

Again I ask, is this game worth buying when it comes out over here (March) or what?

Yes also a nice place to train and get 99 on one loot item. I'm not too far in the game but in The Tomb of Miriam you can touch a pedistal that releases 3 zombies. If you're patient enough you can get all that chain and 99 loot on 1-2 different things. Downfall is 1 exp, and no LP : (

Yes. It's one of the best final fantasies. I think I can speak truely to that as well, since I'm probably the only one here that has beaten every single one of them (yes even 2 and 3j) more than once XD Well, other than this one.

And you were level 37 in henne mines slip? LOL. I was like, low twenties there? I did end up getting to that dragon boss you were talking about, but got raped immediately ;(

I was also thinking about speedrunning this game when I'm done, since it looks like a good ff to speed run. The cut scenes are skippable, and the new battle system should allow for some interesting tactics when blowing through areas fast. I'd need to develop some tactics to beat most of the bosses at low level, though level isn't going to be a problem really. I know I can win at low level, but not so sure how I'm going to get enough gil to do so. I would suppose the most efficient way is to not level up early on, rely completely on skill and some abuse like strats to win against bosses, and then later on level up really fast in the jungle or somewhere where I can get gil and exp really fast.

I also know a way to skip two of the games bosses, INCLUDING ELDER WYRM, which definitely makes the run tons easier because he's basically the hardest boss in the game (the boss ont eh way to archades shouldn't be too bad with some new strats)

Shouldn't be so hard to beat the game in less than 10 hours I'm thinking, but it would be interesting to shoot for a hyper-fast run, say under 7 hours. Unless my school work consumes me first, which is a possibility XD

edit: Disease is the most imbalanced and overpowered status effect in the game. Holy cow.

You'll see why later on XD Esuna doesn't cure it, you ahve to vaccinate yourself, and until you get rid of it you can't heal yourself. It's also fustrating because it doesn't go away when you characters die, so when they're revived they come back with 1 hp no matter what.

                Re: FFXII

                I'd say it's WORTH buying.

I wouldn't say I think it's spectacular, though. For some reason, I just can't really seem to like any of the character except like Balthier. The gameplay, well, I like turn based(not active "turn based") a whole lot more. Also, the story's just kinda meh. I don't really like starting out in cities in games and such, I'd rather start in the middle of nowhere.

I've only gotten to like level 18 IIRC, though, so there's still a lot to do.

                  Re: FFXII

Well at the moment I have FFX (again), Disgaea 2, Monster Hunter and Gran Turismo 3 to keep me going, with THPS4 (again again) in reserves should I get really really bored haha.

But in a couple of months I'll probably want another game, FF always seems like a sure bet (well, FFX-2 can be forgotten).

                  Might check it out then.

David, honestly, I would recommend it too. It's definitely the most interesting FF I've played, and will surely keep you occupied for at least 60+ hours for just beating the game half ass. Going for a perfect game or a decent job at it would easily take over 150+ hours, considering some side quests are huge. Right now, it's top on my list for awesome games.

I've been going at the final dungeon ( I think?) for like, an hour and 15 minutes now and I'm only 1/3 the way up it lmfao. Wow.

Tons of bosses here too. Havn't had many problems with them though. I'm like, level 53?

                      PS I have 210,000 steps.

I watched a video of a guy doing the Cid/Famfrit fight with only Vaan. He only used Vaan for the entire game. Vaan was level 80 something, I think high eighties. He died once though and just brought in two other people to raise him then took them back out. I think I'm gonna try beating the game using only Vaan like that if I ever get around to playing it again.
