    Re: FFR Community Pack II (new thread)

    you want a difficulty that brings out all the unique qualities of the song that you're stepping, however hard that needs to be to do it. If it's under a VD oh well, if it's significantly hard (FGO or higher) add in a simplified difficulty as well. if you've brought out as much as you can of the song and it's still not interesting or stands out from the litter don't send it otherwise send it
    by 'bringing out unique qualities' I mean stepping whatever is the most interesting at any given point in time. if something new comes in and it's a cool rhythm you should change your patterns around to account for it. do this as much and as consistently as possible and you step file good.

    spread biased and all it entails (pitch relevant techniques, pattern relevancy, no worries for 'flow' issues that an index or one-hand biased file might have) is probably the way to go.
    (if you still have no idea what the **** watch some IIDX videos or play random files from the dark chancellor pack/vgmp3)

      I'm stepping a Metallica file with DDReam. lmao there are like 150 BPM changes. And it's not even for this pack. It's taking forever to step =P.

      So peoplez, any suggestions as for what to step? I'm gonna postpone this Metallica file. It's wearing me out.

          Yeah dude anything that has lotsa layering potential preferrably without DT-like tempo changes to maintain sync. My AIM is A Song of Tears

          I know. It was some emo name from years ago =P.

                        Re: FFR Community Pack II (new thread)

                        my statement saying i probably wouldn't want someone who didn't know this was a keyboard pack or that keyboard packs (with the exception of some noteworthy joke packs) aren't concerned with attaining a bunch of files of a certain difficulty, but rather difficulties that best reflect the songs themselves was merely acknowledging the improbability of someone who didn't know these things coming out of nowhere as a stand-out simfile author.

                        the amount of times i've seen someone come entirely out of the woodwork displaying great file-makin skills has been one (amy), and that person obviously knew a great deal beforehand (or had the common sense to know that difficulty should be song- not pack-dependent)

                        i obviously acknowledge the possibility that you (or someone else who didn't know how hard to make their files) could be a great simfile author in hiding, waiting for this moment to strike, it's just pretty unlikely is all ;o;

                            It can take forever too. I thought I found one song but later found out that GLoVE already stepped it.

                            Oh and I'm submitting TSoT. I figured some arbitrary drum placement could be permitted just to maintain fluence. Jacks consisting of both drums and guitar don't flow well IMO.
