Re: Rule debate
+1So after reading everything on here, I think I can conclude that the issue is that there seems to be a disconnect between free speech and following rules. This has already been explained by many. Now we're onto the dealing of the trollers.
According to staff, they are just doing their job, according to the rules. Rules have been stated since the inception of the site forums.
According to Eminith, following the rules is a form of "feeding the trolls" so to speak, in a sense that the trollers expect to be banned and continue to troll thenceforth.
So there seems to be an issue of who holds the responsibility of keeping the trolls under control. Following the rules vs "trolling psychology". Which to follow? Staff will say that you should know better to follow the rules, while Eminith claims that you should know better in understanding how trolls operate.
In my opinion, even if both parties of an issue were at fault, someone has to be the first to step it up. Stalemates get you nowhere.
As for this current issue, I'd say that the staff has seniority here, since the rules are the requirements to stay on these forums. Forums should be treated like being invited to somebody's house: you're a guest and you follow those rules once you enter his or her property.
Mostly the reason I feel like walking away. This is a stalemate it seems and we have a clash of logic here and no one is going to win. Maybe we could stop, and call this a draw here and now. That's been the case with the many other squabbles I have had with staff over this situation and other situations.
Edit:
Calling the pornography different things is also kinda ****ing annoying to me too, wtf why does it all have to be different. It's like you guys are advocating posting softcore porn on the forums by saying it's a lower ban than the other forms of porn.
PORN IS PORN IT SHOULD BE THE SAME BAN LENGTH.Comment

Re: Rule debate
Scarlet, you know the only reason why it seems that mods are having too much control is because of ignorant people on the forums constantly testing against the mods? If we all cooperated, this wouldn't have happened in the first place.
EDIT: Em, why the hell do you think having someone pick up your "shit" is respectful in someone's house? Stop contradicting yourself.Comment

Re: FFR Forum Awards 2011 - Results
I wasn't implying the other kids would join the disruptive kid. Do not put words in my mouth. So, you're implying that these "kids that are eager to learn" would join rank and pull a shit storm? Bad analogy. The reason the would join the disruptive kid is because he has a point. The kid doesn't want to learn, and shouldn't be forced to learn if he doesn't want to. (That's not to say that they should be perma'd. So don't take it that way.)
I could go further into why the school system's way of dealing with these kids are wrong, but w/e.
I was merely pointing out that among a group there's always a few rotten apples. And if those rotten apples are disruptive, you get rid of them.
And if that kid doesn't want to learn, but is being disruptive instead, then what the **** is the point of him staying? He's only disrupting class and annoying other members.
You're disrupting conversation and you think you're entitled to do so, but you forget that it's a privilege to be on the forum, not a right.

Re: Rule debate
Guys...can you just shut the **** up for one moment. This shit just started because of the feedback that I gave on the Worst Thread category. Was it mature of me to write that? Maybe. Maybe not. But for crying out loud look at what we're doing -_-. We're only making the situation worse and what are we doing in resolving this issue? NOTHING. The only solution we can settle for this is to compromise. That's what everything comes down to. Everything has a compromise to it. Sure both parties aren't satisfied but in the end there's no ****ing drama and everyone has a piece of what they wanted in the end. Why don't we just chill out for a moment, stop this shitstorm and discuss like how we're suppose to discuss.Comment

It's their house they have to maintain (moderate) it.
I know that you may be feeling guilt by posting that, but don't worry about that. Re: Rule debate
While your post may have been the catalyst for this discussion, it's not a bad thing either. Both sides, while a bit argumentative, are coming together and trying to understand what is going on.
In any event, there shouldn't be any sort of compromise, it should just be reaffirmed that rules are going to be followed the way that they should be. In other words, those who are still posting need to realize that they're not being handed out bans because staff feels like it, it's because it's an endless process between people causing trouble and those who are trying to keep the forums (relatively) clean.Comment

Re: Rule debate
You're either trolling at this point or severely retarded.
Yeah, it's "their house," and they have to maintain it. But they can also maintain it by keeping people out who aren't adding any social value to the place. If you're going to be the disruptive kid who does nothing but selfishly causes a ruckus for everyone else, they're going to kick you out unless you get your shit together.
