    Rule debate

"FREE KOMMI. Also, this is when the legendary Let's Ban People for saying that they want Kommisar to be free on-going festival starts to happen. Banning people for saying Free Kommi is like imprisoning someone for saying that they don't like the president."

I'm really glad you did though, because a lot of people were being absolute pricks towards your files anyway. Everyone deserves it.

just like banning people for saying Free Kommi is like ticketing someone for walking their dog without a leash - it's a rule/law in some areas and should be followed

I like Chris but it's really old already, everyone needs to grow up

I'm not trying to bash him by any means, I know he didn't want what happened to him to happen.

I'm bashing the other people who continuously are running around with the mindset of 'free Kommi' actually doing something other than getting them a ban.

Okay how is this even comparable to not obeying the law, I am saying I don't agree with the law, not that I am going to downright break it (even though at times I feel like it, since the rule is so bs it's funny).

The rule here is pretty much not even fair. It's literally a rule because the admins and moderators don't want to see a bunch of people disagreeing with them because then it would start a riot. F*ck the rules. I say that it's dictatorial to even say that we can't say Free Kommi, since that is our opinion, and if the whole of FFR is saying it, I'm pretty sure the admins are a little wrong on it. Just my ****ing opinion, but even though just saying it seems like I may get banned.

Perhaps it's just best to let him appeal after his original 6 month ban is served. I'm sure something will happen.

Though the outcry from all the users wanting Kommisar unbanned should perhaps be managed a little more efficiently. I don't think their opinion should be frowned upon, but the whole "free kommi" thing has probably become annoying for moderators, albeit entertaining for some.

its not a rule because the admins dont want you to voice your opinion its a rule because its ****ing annoying when someone has a huge following and they start doing stupid shit that everyone has to see/deal with.

saying free kommi over and over again isnt going to free kommi any more or any faster than he already was going to be without you or anyone else saying it.

EDIT: What rubix said under me is pretty much what I wanted to say. I personally don't care if you say it, but it's dumb when threads are whored to all hell saying it.

Re: FFR Forum Awards 2011 - Results

IMO moderation rules should just be based on common sense. Is saying FREE KOMMI really a bannable offense? No. Jesus. But starting a bunch of FREE [NAME] threads is obviously disruptive, as is treading a fine line by postwhoring it repeatedly.

As for files: IMO, there are two ways to gauge the quality of a file.

                      1. How fun it is
                      2. How well-stepped it is

The two don't always overlap. Some files are beautifully stepped but are awkward as hell to play. Others are easy but fit the music nicely and ultimately yield a fun file.

Hard to capture those spectra with a single vote/number.

this is what has been going on for the most part though kind of like the repeated inb4lock that use to be done

                          A) Yes, useless
                          B) It's not really something that should be bannable for. If ANYTHING just for a day, after a warning, but 3 days is just ****ing retarded, I know what you're getting at, but there's nothing text can do if you guys have the power to keep him banned. Or what? Are you guys afraid you will see their point and get convinced or something?
Either way the rule is totally unprofessional, and you guys just furthered my point that it is definitely a rule that was put in place because they don't want to see a group of people (even though by banning these people they are actually joining up into groups because you instigated a pissed off hornet's nest worth of people) saying Free Kommi.
                          GG FFR

edit Same for that ****ing inb4 lock ban. You guys are really egging them on with negative attention by banning them.

Yeah -- when it comes to forums, the most effective rules are the ones that aren't hard-set. "Don't be a retarded, disruptive toolbag/jerk/asshole" works pretty well for the most part.

I remember getting banned once for posting an "in before lock" gif and I thought it was the most absurd enforcement of forum rules I'd ever seen. That sort of moderation is exactly what I think ruins the forum experience and causes people to get retaliatory when the punishments don't fit the context of the "crime."
