Set your stream's offline image to a graphic displaying the Hitbox url for your account and say you're moving to that, could also help bring some of your following over.

What I'm really bummed about in regards to potentially moving to Hitbox if it turns out better, is the Live notification you can have with the Twitch/Youtube integration. I think that's a badass use of notifications, showing a "LIVE" annotation on your YouTube videos while you're streaming.

                  you'd be surprised

besides, it's not like this policy change in particular is the only reason to switch to hitbox

I'm not upset with twitch, but I figured I'd bandwagon and try hitbox out for viewing other streams, and by God it's much better. I'm not abandoning twitch, but I'll probably be streaming on hitbox since I like the feel a bunch more. I'll be excited to see hitbox develop their infrastructure to accomodate for their increased user traffic.

streamed on hitbox, had 1 viewer (rcaliber) changed to twitch, had stable 60-70 after an hour, peaked 80, 2 donations

                      i'll stick to twitch still

                        Re: Twitch blocking copyrighted audio

Twitch has its issues that it's trying to fix. Hitbox has shitty servers and they'd be stupid not to upgrade soon. Their site layout and highlight system could use some work too. What it comes down to for most people is if they're already established on Twitch, they're not going to want to migrate.

The reason why Hitbox would be the goto site right now is no delayed stream so that chat can interact with their streamer.

That's enough reason for me to make the switch, but i'm still streaming to Twitch while I plan to migrate to Hitbox. Don't actually care at all about viewer count, I just care about the people who actually want to watch my stream who might not know I'm moving. I'd be an asshole just to abandon my userbase like that I think.

tldr twitch isn't bad but its stream delay is so hitbox is the way to go unless you care about your viewercount$.

I'm curious if it is possible to stream to both hitbox and twitch at the same time (and if such a thing is possible, if my connection & computer can handle it)

I'd imagine that's really the best way to go about things.

I don't see why not, but you are uploading to two seperate servers so you'd need a good upload connect speed.

Well not really, probably 10 megabit upload would be fine, but internet in the US is shit.

If you're using Xsplit, all you have to do is just click broadcast on the two you want.

But yes, that'll mean you will be uploading twice the amount.

Twitch doesn't even care about that delay and it is widely considered to be one of the biggest problems with Twitch. I'm super excited to be able to interact with chat in a matter of seconds rather than minutes :)
I really never understood why Twitch did that. Yeah, okay, they wanted to change the streaming format, but if it caused that much trouble, how could it be worth it? Just deal with the increased data or bandwidth or whatever, buy more servers if you have to. It's the cost of doing business as a stream site.

Fun fact: when NASA was talking with astronauts on the moon, their delay was ~1.3 seconds each way. So they literally had an easier time talking with moon-walking spacemen than streamers do with their chat.
