What am I?

97% of Harvard graduates have never been able to figure this out. 84% of pre-school students have figured it out in 6 minutes our less.

Pimples don't make guys pee, girls comb their hair, pancakes turn brown, champagne bubble, and you won't pop if you see it.

The sun was my first thought, but it doesn't make guys pee, girls comb their hair, it won't pop if you squeeze it, it doesn't mad champagne bubble...

actually it does make guys pee
and it makes girls' hair look different so they comb it
and with enough force, you can pop it
and its hott enough to boil champagne....

Stats like this are a) almost always total crap and b) just indicative of the fact that the "riddle" has a really illogical or counter-intuitive answer that people who have any kind of education or propensity for logical intelligence have trouble with.

That makes it nowhere near the "world's greatest" riddle.

Also, some basic internet research shows that you told it wrong, and the riddle is supposed to end with "Can you guess the riddle?" to which the "correct" answer that the kids all get is "No"

people think the answer to this riddle is yes or no because of the last line

and

And people only seem to think the answer is "Time" based on some obscure children's rhyme that they all quote, but never give a title or author or source for that I haven't been able to track down. As an aside, the rhyme apparantly goes:

The time has come,
winter is here
and those yellow bears disapear.

The time has past
as man looks back with a sigh
and a tear in his eye.

As time is held
boys cross their legs
but of course the toilet begs

As time marches on
Girls loose their blush
and swap a comb for their brush

As time passes
For those held high
their end is nigh

As time catches up
Everyone is equal
when we get to the final sequal

As time turns
Without it we have flour and water

I saw a vid with all those poems for the answer and at the end it said Neil Gaiman makes pretty good riddles.

But i haven't done any research so i have no idea if thats really the person that came up with it or not =/
