That would have been the best thing EVER.

Except then he wouldn't have gotten that score. That is one insane score, man. It makes me wonder why I spent any time trying to get good at DDR.

Wtf Bandit, he was just saying it's lame that he used the bar when he didn't need to, and it looks bad versus not using it.

Because it's just lame looking to be holding onto a bar the entire time. The only people whining about this are the ones telling us people that prefer no-bar stuff to quit whining, even though we're not. Nobody is downplaying anything. It's like if you saw somebody do some crazy kung fu move in a movie and you're like "Oh, it woulda been so cool if they had done this and this, too!" That's not downplaying the movie, it's just saying that you personally would rather the scene be a little different. When I watch people play DDR, I want to be entertained. I don't want to see the screen and his combo going up, and I don't want to see his upper body holding still mostly while holding the bar. That's not fun to watch. The Bee video was fun because I could see his feet as they flailed around the stage. I don't care what his score was, I care that the video wasn't entertaining.

And so now you're gonna quote that and fuss because I don't appreciate something? Just shut the hell up, nobody really cares.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Oh, so first you bring up the bar, and now you're going the "nobody cares" route? As a good TWG player, I honestly expect more from you than that. (Besides, if no one truly cared, you wouldn't have mentioned the bar in the first place.)

Don't deny that you weren't downplaying the guy's accomplishment, your very first words were "Too bad he's raping the bar". Then, in your most recent post, you say that "it's just lame looking to be holding onto a bar the entire time". While I may be misinterpreting the second quote, your intentions in the first one are plain as day.

Why are you even focusing on where his hands are anyway? Shouldn't you be watching his feet, or, given they're absent from the video, the screen? There are far more important things to watch in a DDR video than where the player's hands are, since they're neither the scoring limbs nor the game screen.
I watched clouds awobbly from the floor o' that kayak. Souls cross ages like clouds cross skies, an' tho' a cloud's shape nor hue nor size don't stay the same, it's still a cloud an' so is a soul. Who can say where the cloud's blowed from or who the soul'll be 'morrow? Only Sonmi the east an' the west an' the compass an' the atlas, yay, only the atlas o' clouds.

The point of the video is to show an accomplishment, not to go OMG I MOVE MY FEETS FAST WATCH ME WHEEEEEE. It's like saying "I don't care if you can AAAA slow stuff, I want to see you stomp on bubble wrap to the beat of Reality." That's a really big exaggeration, but still, it's the same general idea. I'm fairly certain Chardish didn't post this to say "lol his feet move really fast cool", but to say "holy crap that guy has insane timing", and to show this guy's insane timing to us.

HIGHSCORES ARE BASED ON THE PERECENTAGE YOU GAIN AT THE END OF THE SONG, NOT WHETHER YOU "BAR RAPE" OR NOT.

If all we cared about was the score, then he'd have only posted the score with some proof like a photo. The fact that a video was provided implied that the way he got the score was important too. And I'm sorry, but if I was on video like that, I'd try to only hold the bar when it's totally necessary.

                          I highly doubt that someone could do that good without the bar. I myself use the bar at times. It's there...so why not. That's why i hated PIU's bar and how it was so wobbly...but yea...kevin, if you have ever heard of TJ3! or Lady Yuna, im very good friends with them and they have seen Kevin and know him as well. He has AAAed Maxx Unlimited which made me sad...now i saw this ;_;

You missed my point entirely. It's like, if you're watching a football game on TV. Let's say one team completely owns the other team, and overcame great odds in doing it. It's not like the other team was bad, or that the team that was playing was too good, it's just that they had a really good game. Let's say the entire game is just them taking the ball in fumbles and interceptions and constantly scoring. The other team scores a few points, but overall the one team completely obliterates the other team, and everybody knows there's no chance for the other guys to even come close to winning.

Some people would watch such a game and say "That was boring, you knew who'd win right away." because close games are simply more entertaining. Other people would watch and be like "holy shit that was such a crazy accomplishment! I am amazed by how good that team is! Holy crap! And I heard they beat that other team by 100 points, too!" I'm in that first group of people, who doesn't care what kind of accomplishment it is, really.

If you read my first post fully, you'll see that I said several things that imply that I wasn't entertained. The video didn't show his feet, and the part that WAS showing, his upper body, was pretty much stuck in place thanks to him holding the bar the whole time. If I cared what his score was, I would just look at the beginning screen that showed his score and been like "k." But I wanna be entertained by some kid flailing around on an ITG pad and seeing everybody's reaction. If he had used the bar but the videographer panned down to his feet, which I'm sure were going crazy, it might have been better.

And notice that in the Bee video, which I mentioned right away as being more impressive (and more entertaining), the guy rapes the bar to a ridiculous degree. The fact that he's holding the bar while doing doubles makes me laugh, and the full body shot so that I'm able to see his crazy actions are even better. That video was fun to watch. Did he come anywhere near as close to getting that other guy's score? No, he only got an A. Do I care? No. I'm more likely to watch the Bee video again and again, and bring my mom in to show her. I'd rather watch freestyle videos where the people almost fail than watch some boring video where I guy AAAA's Blur on foot but it only shows the screen so I can't see him boogy.

Do you guys understand me now, or do I have to simplify it even more?

Bar = no upper body movement
No upper body movement + camera pointed only at upper body = boring
Boring = I don't want to watch it
I don't want to watch it = not as impressive as if I did want to watch it
Not as impressive to me != I think his accomplishment isn't as insane as it is

Got it now? I hope so.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

I don't want to watch it = not as impressive as if I did want to watch it
THE IMPRESSIVENESS OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENT IS NOT BASED ON:

                              1) your desire to watch it
                              2) your critique of the videographer
                              3) your snobbish, elitist no-bar attitude

#1: 99.71% on an 11 foot Expert song is bloody ridiculous. If you don't agree with this, then I seriously lose all respect for you as a Bemani player.

#2: Saying the DDR accomplishments of someone way better than you makes you look like a tool.

#3: Saying that the accomplishments of the best DDR player in the world are unimpressive makes you look like an even bigger tool.

#4: Saying "I think it's impressive, but..." and then explaining why it should be better makes you look like a snobbish, elitist tool.

It's funny, EB, how you resort to criticizing the VIDEO in an attempt to downplay the significance of his accomplishment. I really thought you were more intelligent than that.
