I have no problem with no-bar players (I was one for most of the time I played) but this idea that doing something without the bar is more respectable or important than doing it with is silly. People like Pickles that are so annoyingly loud about their no-bar stance seem to at least to me, be compensated for an overall inability to compete with a gimmick. In other words, the highest score on Pandemonium is a 95%, so Pickles, knowing he won't beat that with or without the bar, just passes it without the bar and uses that as his Pandemonium accomplishment.

I don't personally care for it, nor do I care for the way he seemed to imply that him passing the song was like a human being walking on water on AIJ, but I was drunk when I read that so maybe I am embelishing a bit. I just remember being really turned off by his post about it.
As Duk said, can't put it much better than that.

    Insane vid.

Also, Chardish, do you live anywhere near Ashland Kentucky? That's where I play ITG.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Holy hell

Only a couple of the many people who said something about the bar were whining about it. Mostly, I'm just saying it'd be more impressive if he didn't have to hold on to it. Also, the video itself isn't that impressive to me, but that's not the player's fault, and it may not be the cameraman's fault. May be he couldn't back up any more so we could see his feet, I dunno.
So I've gone completely slack-ass and haven't done any work on creating games. =(

In less-depressing news, I got a job for an online business (which sells non-electronic games, of all things!) which has taught me a lot about marketing online and all that jazz.

So now I'm on Twitter @NoahWright.
And I write the blog for their website.

Plus I do cool programming in-house that you'll never see. =O

Personally, I'm against barraping... but like I said earlier the stepfiles for ITG were designed with the bar in mind. It's SO much easier to miss a quad mine with a bar to lean up against than without one.

I DO think however, that it is possible for people to have the speed (the human limit is probably 230ish bpm sixteenths for long periods of time and maybe 400ish for short little trill bursts) to do nearly everything on ITG well without the bar. Accuracy would suffer though.

That doesn't make you sound any less elitist.

Should I go around the Brag Board preaching about how the accomplishments of people who use two hands don't mean squat or aren't impressive because I don't use my second hand?
I watched clouds awobbly from the floor o' that kayak. Souls cross ages like clouds cross skies, an' tho' a cloud's shape nor hue nor size don't stay the same, it's still a cloud an' so is a soul. WOW! I didn't get to see the first one becuase it wouldn't open for me. The most I got for it was the song and I could only hear him stomping. I saw the second one and it looked like he didn't even touch the pad. Seemed like he was almost just sliding around. =/ Some songs you just have to use the bar...like that one song that Bee did, lets see you guys try it without the bar. i do admit that on the easy parts he could have let go of the bar but maybe the timing was just to fast to even think about letting go.....you never know.

Right aroung the middle of the song would have been the perfect time for a little kid to run infront of him.

No, but when somebody posts a 1-handed score that is way better than most 2-handed scores, people are more impressed. When somebody not using the bar gets a score roughly equal to that of someone who uses the bar, it's more impressive. That's all I'm saying. Why are you people jumping down my throat about it?

The lame part isn't that he used the bar. The lame part is that he used the bar when it was totally unneeded.

I don't blame him for using the bar during 16th runs, I blame him for using it during hold taps and the one part with hands. There is no possible way that holding onto the bar with one hand while hitting a panel with the other helps in any way.

Also, @ what kilga said about onehanded versus two handed scores: Onehanded scores are normally VERY far from two hand scores. If people don't rely on the bar, then they could get good enough to compare to bar rapers even while not using the bar at all.

Also, out of all the people dissappointed by the bar raping, I don't think any of them expressed that the score wasn't impressive, or that this person doesn't have skills. This score is very impressive and this person does have massive skills.

It's just that some people seem to think that a no bar score is more impressive than a score with a bar.

For example, one of my best ITG accomplishments (even though I suck) is 96% on Tribal Style Expert. That's a 10 footer in case some of you don't know, so I use the bar on it.
When I play it without the bar, my score is somewhere in the 80's, if I even pass because I have like no stamina.

                            Which score is better?
