Edit: BTW, how stong were you when you beat the sorceress? My stats are:
262 mus
300 msy
254 mox

Is that too low??? I can beat the first form of the sorceress, but I barely suvive... Is there a way to use items or cast spells during the battle? I don't know if I can beat her, because my stats suck really bad...

Mine are 356, 331, 317 unbuffed. So I would be in a bit better shape than ckj846. But I would also like that information.
Also what kind of healing items are best for the shadow? and what are the other options, so I can just pick up the cheapest one at the mall.

Sorceress is scaled for your stats.... so your stats don't matter.

Best healing items... red pixel potions, then either Dr's elixers or casts.

Argh... I think I'm quitting too... The sorceress is way too hard and frustrating for me. And it is not even HARD or CHALLENGING, it just takes luck. I'm in no mood, nor will I ever be in the mood, to try and beat her for 6 hours straight. It just isn't worth it. If they make any changes to the game and the quest, maybe I will consider playing again. But, it is not worth my time. And jenova, stats don't matter and actually, you want lower stats because it makes the battle easier. I got to the 3rd battle, by she killed me with her opening attack. So, if you have suggestions to make the fight A LOT easier, just reply or PM me. Damn, and I though Ascension was going to be good...

She scales? SWEET! I was looking at other people's stats and thinking I was screwed, but I may be in luck. My guy is just barely level 15, so this shouldn't be too hard when I finally get to her. Of course, the lag pissed me off too much so I'm not gonna actually get to ascend until when I play at like 4am this morning.

Is there a reason that the battle takes 6 hours? or is that an off-handed comment at that lag that prevents me from from even reaching the sorceress yet?

Umm... Actually, she has a lot of HP. It took me 15 minutes to take out her first form, and around 45 minutes for the second form. Then, I died. Also, do you equip the wand, or do you just have to have it in your inventory. On the KoL forums, they said you need your character specific weapon, and they also said that you need to use an item to beat the Sorceress. Of course, they talked in hints, so my 3 hours of work reading through those forums were a great waste of my time. So, any more spoilers that might get me closer to beating that damned bitch?

Tass, what class/level are you? I hear things are really tough as the muscle-based classes.

EDIT3 (since nobody is posting): Oh man, I had forgotten how low the low levels are. At level 2, I'm 6/3/4 with 9 HP and 3 MP. That's so friggin ridiculous!

Gah! I am fighting the sorc's potato with a barrrnicle, and I'm starting to think it's the wrong familiar, as it is lvl 19 and still no dice. Bleh. Anyone have a suggestion on the right one?

Hmmmmmm, if you have the adventures to spare (and you really ought to) try equipping different familiars to see what it says. Jick usually drops hints about what you're doing wrong, so if the other ones say things about using the barnicle, you know you're right. May be the last familiar just requires a lot more? I can't remember what poundage I needed to defeat my last familiar battle. Also, try checking the big ascension thread on the forums. There are alot of hints that may help.

For that... familiars must be lv. 20 buffed. It is the barnacle to defeat the potato.

PS - I beat the sorceress... didn't ascend though. I might ascend hardcore oxygenarian after I liquidate.

So unbuffed they could only have to be 5lbs because equipment and I have both empathy bonuses?
