Can only buff yourself... couldn't get outside buffs. Plus, you can't get MP restorers until late in the game, so as an HCO, you have to relay on no buffs pretty much all the time. It would take too many of your precious turns otherwise to continue buffing.

And, Cocoabos don't give you stats if I am correct. I have a feeling that the moxie sign stuff comes after the Mysterious Island of Msytery... Just a guess.

I saw somebody post in one ascension thread how their cocoabo cooed and nuzzled and they got stats. I didn't remember getting any stats, but my cocoabo hardly ever does anything for me. >___<

And really, all it would take is adventuring weaponless in one of the very early areas and not attacking (just refreshing the page, not clicking attack). The whole point of it is that you could get all these stats/meat (maybe just meat, I dunno) in just one adventure so that your 40 a day would do a TON more for you. Also, if you don't get stats, just meat, you could buy the moxie weeds and strongness things from the store and eat those, since they don't count as food. I must try this tomorrow....

If you think about it could work, but currently there are a few flaws. The easiest thing I could see is go against a monster which you can dodge at a high percentage with high moxie (which would mean being a moxie class, and artificially raising moxie throught the gym for a few turns at the beginning), and hit with very little accuracy, keep your chocobo from previous life and you're good to go. If you use kolmafia it could just let your chocobo endlessly heal/ restore mp/ dig up meat until it killed the enemy for you.

But, the Cocoabo will also attack the enemy, so the amount of meat gain is limited. And also, is meat really more important than stats??? Especially in hardcore, meat makes very little difference in the game.

Actually, meat is VERY important to me right now. Most HCOs autosell all their food and drinks because they need meat very badly. I can't buy any good skills right now, and I would really love the couple hundred meat the cocoabo can give me. I'm gonna try this little strategy here in a minute. I'll unequip my weapon (so I don't kill him if I hit first) and just keep refreshing the page. And if I find out the cocoabo really can give stats, I will be very happy with myself. This could be a way to more quickly blow through a hardcore run....

Dammit! And the stupid cocoabo didn't do anything. I think he is only motivated to do something when I actually attack. So much for that. >__<

^^ Well, the game got a whole bunch more fun after you Ascend. The new content is really whacky, especially for the Moxie signs. Anyways, it is a hobby for me to do over the summer.

Man, i am still in the lair... damn it, i wanna ascend. Was working really hard at trying to get through before ascension so i could do it but oh well. Soon enough i guess.
For now i am still stuck with the three mariachi's and the skeleton key room riddle thing.
Hope you are all enjoying your ascension, especially all you hard core'ers out there. I'm planning on doing hard core run. Fun fun.
