I'm glad the members of FFR are more understanding of this issue.

I tried asking moderation of another site that I use to help pass it on.

    Their response?

    "No thanks." The assholes.

Not really heartless, I'm just trying to understand why Joseph Kony garnered enough attention overnight to start a "movement."

Yeah, it sucks that he's using kids for terrorist acts but is that the only reason people care about him? Just because of the kids? Think to yourself, if he was gaining adult followers through propaganda, would there be a movement like this at all?

People like described here kinda disgust me...like, where is your heart?

I read an article about tipping (DO NOT start debating this, I just want to make a reference) and it honestly disgusted me how many people ripped apart the author because said person shared his/her feelings on the fact that we should be kind to waiters/waitresses and tip. I myself generally tip decently because I like the idea of helping out, but reading the comments people were making was disgusting...if a waiter forgets you're there for an hour, that's one thing but meh. People these days have no heart and it's disgusting.

(Again, do NOT start debating tipping, I don't want to derail this thread...)

@Choofers, sorry if I sounded like I was attacking you ~_~ not really what I was going for

Nope, getting an action kit will accomplish almost nothing. He's already on the World's 10 Most Wanted list, and he's been indicted by the ICC. What will wearing a t-shirt do?

          "Yo choof, what's that t-shirt you're wearing?"
"Oh, it's to raise awareness for a terrorist that's rampant in a couple parts of Uganda. He brainwashes children. Joseph Kony, look him up. Maybe your google search will get him captured!"

Something about this video defines what a true movement is to get people's attention and getting the right amount of it to get its point across:

              - He's the number 1 suspect on the International Criminal Court's list (if that's the case, why weren't we initially concerned about this guy).

              - I've gone curious and Wiki'd Kony and it tells me he has abducted 66,000 kids, not just 30,000, and has displaced 2 million people since the start of his rebellion.

              - One person made an ultimate promise and fulfilled it with millions of people.

              That's a movement.

                Refer to this post: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...7&postcount=17

I don't have an issue with movements, at all. If there was a movement that could actually have some sort of affect on mankind, then I would be all for it. But this? People already know about him. Will my $30 go directly to tracking and capturing/killing this guy? I highly doubt it.

The fact that he's using children for his acts of terrorism is the only reason he's getting this much attention.

Just to clarify. Yes, I think what Kony is doing, especially with the children, is wrong. Yes, I hope he's captured at some point (or killed). No, I won't participate in this movement because it won't change anything.

The "right" thing to do would be to go to Uganda with a decent sized force and actively hunt for Kony but I doubt that many people would do this.

I have the money to do tasks here to raise awareness. I don't have the money to go there and help.

I'm doing things to help that are realistic for me right now.

Yes, it may seem small but it eventually adds up, especially if you're helping to spread who he is and showing our world leaders we do care.

The video explained this, how Ugandan force needs technology and training but it's a chain effect from outside support that will make that happen.

No outside support, no Ugandan force, Kony wins.

We all thought Saddam and Osama were real culprits here. Even Gaddafi does not compare to the crimes this guy has committed. I still don't understand how these three are more known than Kony, especially when his rebellion has been going on for 20+ years. How and why did that get ignored and left alone until now?

That's all the money is going to, raising awareness. I'm looking at the Kony2012 site right now and there is nothing here that says what the money is going to. Clicking "give" doesn't say anything about where the money is going, clicking "get the kit" doesn't say anything either.

That is literally the only issue I have, in terms of donating. If there was a tiny section that said something like, "50% of the donations go towards the Ugandan government to help fund a military manhunt," then I would definitely donate. Hell, I would donate more than just $30 dollars.

Awareness won't change anything, all it's doing is waving a big fan in front of our government and saying "HEY THIS DUDE ON THE TOP 10 WORLD'S MOST WANTED LIST? THIS DUDE THAT'S BEEN INDICTED BY THE ICC? YEAH, HE'S A BAD PERSON AND SHOULD BE CAUGHT."
