Hey guys, I installed the game, but when I go to play it, it says this gameguard w/e upgrade server isn't connecting and I've tried maybe 5 times over a few hours. I tried re-installing but that did nothing, any ideas?

So hows it goin everyone? Jason i think you said my DK wouldnt be back on the rankings and its not.. so you were right. But if anyone has a decently scrolled dex road i need it, just whisper me DansASwimmer. Same goes for a 106+ atk os. I have a 105 but i need higher. Thank. Take a screen, there's multiple gameguard errors.

EDIT: wow I just blew 60m worth of earring int scrolls and the best thing I got from it was a 3 int 5 ma 3 slot.

****ING SERIOUS. How can I put so much money into this and end up with absolute ****ing ****. You know how much I spent on my overall? 50m? And I did it all in one sitting. 29 int. Best lukless overall there is in gMS as far as I know (pL0x scrolled a 29 int 2 slot sauna, but broke it). And my lama. ****ing 15 int. I think I have only ever seen one weapon scrolled better than this and it was that ****ing weirdo-ass arc that is like +18 int.

But I can't even ****ing manage to scroll an earring with 2 30%s on it without it breaking. It's ****ing sad. Earring is all I can upgrade, and because of how good my earring is already, I basically have to scroll it myself. No one who is scrolling earrings is going to sell a 15/25. They'd just keep it for themself. And **** you Mr. Try-to-correct-my-typing Firefox. It is generally acceptable to refer to a person in with the plural pronoun "they", or, in this case, "them", when the gender is unknown, especially in highly informal setttings.

And yeah ****ing pointless rant. I just had to do something. It's so ****ing bull**** that I've put so much money into scrolling a damn earring and I can't ****ing pull it off worth a ****.

Usually I'm not one who will "tl;dr" a thread, but 722 pages is a bit much...so I'll go ahead and ask a question here if no one minds.

I'm thinking I might get into this game, but there's some things I'd like to know first. What sort of systems does it use (like for combat, chat, level-up, etc.)? From what I've garnered from some posts here, it seems based on DnD-style stats and stat-upgrades, but what of combat? Is it real-time with commands being activated on keypress? Is it turn-based, or something like Knights of the Old Republic or Neverwinter Nights?

Also, what of the learning curve? Are there a lot of complex things you have thrown at you, or are things gradually explained? How well-put together are the explanations?

Finally, what of the community? Is it filled with "txt tlkrs" and younger children, or are the majority mature and helpful?

Oh, and one more thing. Are there some MapleStory fansites and forums with helpful tips? Is there a MapleStory wiki or something? If so, I'd like links so I could learn some more about the game.

It's completely real-time.

There is no learning curve. Everything is explained.

The community is okay. Some people like it and some people hate it. I'd say the average age of a player is about 14-17, but there are people as young as 9(who I have run into) and many adults. In other words, it appeals to everyone, but like nearly any game, it'll mainly be filled with teens and stuff.

www.hidden-street.net, www.sleepywood.net, and www.mapletip.com are probably the main fansites.
