You can't compare a lukless fire wizard to a normal hunter, due to the fact that a strless hunter (especially after lv 65) at would destroy a lukless fire mage in damage. Also, Fire wizards HAVE to train in El Fire whereas archers are more versatile in training spots. Fire Arrow is a slower skill than double shot with booster by far, with far less range. A hunter who mastered jump arrow bombing can take out mobs far faster than a fire mage.

Jump shooting and Arrow Bomb's stun also allows a hunter to avoid swinging their bow most of the time.

If you're so confident, try to outlevel me when we're about the same level. We'll have a contest to see who levels first. I mean I'm not saying this in an insulting way, but rather a friendly challenge. It will be fun.

Do you have any idea how mastery and crits affect average damage output? I'll try to make it simple for you right here:

Archers will have a high maximum damage, but their min will be insanely low. Recall a bit back where I called the archer on his min damage? He posted a hit of 4200. His minimum is 1300. And not only that, but he only gets a crit 40% of the time (double shot levels out damage a bit, but that's a whole other thing) and of those 60% normal hits, he could end up hitting as low as 60% of his normal attack.

A magician will NEVER EVER EVER attack for less than 60% of their maximum (unless it's some other ****ty skill I'm unaware of with super crappy mastery or if the skill is not maxed yet).

Now, if you take one character with a max of 3000 and a min of 2400 and compare it to another character with max 4000 and a min of 1200, who do you think does the most damage? Could be close, yes... but that's not a fair comparison. But then again... pull the averages: 2400 and 2600. Hmm... so if the archer gets lucky he'll put out more damage and if he's unlucky he'll do less. The magician doesn't count on luck at all and does decent damage 100% of the time. On top of this, the magician should be moving WAY faster than the archer... archers just ****ing stand there while magicians teleport around faster than anyone can move even with haste. And one more thing, any magician worth their weight should be able to hit nearly as hard (or harder) as (than) an archer of the same level's maximum hit I would think.

I'd say that teleport more than makes up for the fact that magician doesn't get booster until 3rd job. As for the range thing: is it TRULY less range, or is it just that archers get a passive skill in 1st job that increases the default range.

Arrow bomb sucks. Splash damage is ****ing ridiculous. Listen... I'm used to heal with it's 30% mastery and splash style of damaging and even I would say that Arrow Bomb sucks. The only good thing about Arrow Bomb is that it stuns, since damage is crap.

Um... no. No matter how good you are jump shooting with an archer, you can't fire them off like jump casts for lucky7. The way L7 works is you throw while you're in your jump and thus you can literally throw stars while staring a monster right in the face (assuming you can time it correctly). An archer has to shoot at the base of their jump, which means that if the monster is in front of them already, they'll be wacking the monster with their bow. Arrow Bomb obviously does increase your mob control, so I'll give you that, but jump shooting wouldn't do **** besides increase your speed SLIGHTLY.

They're terribly boring in 2nd job(to me, at least). I don't see why he likes them so much there. I mean if he were in 3rd job, I'd understand. But until then, he's just assuming he'll like it...

There is a 1st job skill that increases range for archers. Believe me, it's A LOT greater then a magician's.

The damage isn't that terrible. It far outdamages double shot on mobs of 3 or more, and the stun is reasonably good. When maxed at 6x, I remember I was doing 3k to 5 enemies and like 1.5k to the front enemy (1st hit is like half as strong? It then splashes on to the other monsters and does more damage, plus stun. Not sure on the actual number). It DOES allow you to train much faster, and it also gives you more versatility. Saves pots with the stun too. Arrow bomb is by far the best skill a bowman has in 2nd job.

Jump shooting is useful for dodging, but it doesn't make you as versatile as sins. But that isn't how they are supposed to be played. In all honesty, archers were made to be boring. They were made to sit back and snipe everything from a safe distance, making speed and jump relatively useless. It's rather easy to get speed and jump equips; I remember I had almost the same speed and jump as maxed haste. Jump shooting helps speed up training a bit, especially on flat maps. It's not like it'll all that useful; you can live without it.

Uhh and everything else is right on. Bowman suck in 2nd job. Really, they do. If you enjoy them now though, you'll love 3rd job (if you can make it past 7x -_-... it's hell). =]
