You have to talk to the guy who sets up matches between 9:00AM and 9:00PM. He stands in the back room in the corner.

        Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

        Where is glass shortsword?

And what armour should I be using?

I am level 8 Shortsword/Shield and I am using Blades Armour and that Akrimi's Katana or whatever (also found in Blades place).

I could probably do with some better equip.

Time to kick some Mystic asszors.

        NiK

EDIT : And why the hell can't I get into jail? I have 40 bounty on my head, and when I get thrown in the Bruma Jail, my game freezes on the guard saying, " Spend your time peacefully and repay your debt to society."

        And it just sits there.

        For over 15 minutes.

Anyone know the reason? I really want to join thieves guild....

I found it in some Aylied ruins, behind a Very Hard door and in a Very Hard chest. I heart it so, mostly because it's green. But loot is dependent on your level and your luck - the higher each of them are, the better stuff you're going to find. Of course, the best loot is always very hidden and out of the way.

Also, your enemies will supply you with most of your equipment, as they always seem to get the good stuff before you do. Again, what they carry is level dependent, and also based on what difficulty you're set at.

As for what armor you're using, are you a Heavy Armor or a Light Armor guy? You should be using the best armor you can for your class without breaking yourself. The order of light armors, from worst to best, is Fur, Leather, Chainmail, Mithril, Elven, Glass. Heavy goes Iron, Steel, Dwarven, Orcish, Ebony, Daedric. Of course, there are also other armors; if you have some that has better armor rating than what you're wearing, gogogo and wear it.

As for your problem, I have no idea - I can get thrown in jail without my 360 going ASDF NOPE SRY FROZE'D.

Well, if it keeps screwing up, then just noclip through or try some other day.

              Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Yeah, I'm playing PC version, but when I get sent to jail, my Obliv goes "ASDF NOPE SRY FROZE'D".

And the weirdest thing just happened. I can't get into a jail right? So I can't get to thieves guild. So I try the other way, @ the waterfront in Imperial.

So here I am, innocent, in Imperial whilst looking for some beggar to tell me where their leader is. Hmm, I'll walk by that pirate ship from that early quest (which I DIDN'T do stealthily).

All of a sudden, these two pirates decide to revive a past conflict. I start beating the crud out of one of them, and thankfully the friendly guard decides to help me out by attacking the other pirate. So together we take them out.

But all is not well. Just as I begin to thank the guard-HALT LAWBREAKER. And I hella ain't going to jail. So I resist arrest, and slaughter the poor bastard.

These pirates were ticking me off, so I walked onto their ship and killed the both of them. Now as I am wandering off the ship, I find my self approaching some beggars. But these aren't normal beggars as I find out when they shout DAGON and change into the Mythic Dawn and attack the HELL out of me. But I kill them.

So I suppose my questions are:

              a) How long do pirates hold a grudge?

              b) 1000 Gold or losing alot of skills in jail?

              c) Why the HELL are random people turning into Mythic Dawn Assassin people?

              Thanks,

              NiK

                a) NPCs have always been unforgiving in Elder Scrolls. You can try yielding, but it won't work if the people don't like you. On the other hand, you killed them all, so no worries.

                b) Both are replenishable. Personally, I'd keep the skills.

                c) Yeah, about that - a lot of "normal people" are Mythic Dawn agents in secret. Sort of funny really, since they attack in broad daylight and get slaughtered by you/the guards/anyone that likes you nearby.

                    Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

So I'm at like 750,000 gold now and completely out of things to do.

And of course the game crashed on me. That's the only reason I'm posting now.

I've done all the Daedra Shrine quests I care for / that work so far. Seriously there are so many bugs in this game. As it is now, it takes about 3-5 seconds to load whatever is in barrels / chests / etc. The overworld is laggy like WHOA and various other annoyances.

So I seriously think I'm done. The ending I thought I saw coming is not coming and I don't know why, so I'm finished.

                      Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Hey Squeek, there are a couple of quests I wonder have you done (you probably have).

Spoilers ahead - One is where you find a jade amulet on a goblin in a cave (forget which one) and it gives you a quest to locate the owner. The second is in Fort Irony, in a chest is some "Shadowbanish Wine" which, when you take them, give you a quest. Both have been sitting in my quest log forever. End Spoilers

But perhaps I'm just taking this game really slowly, messing around and not generally getting things done. I've been playing for 52 hours now. There are 404 places to find (roughly, may be slightly more) on the Map, and I've found 85, and have only explored about half of those. The only guild I've completed is DB, I haven't even started fighters or mages. I still have 5 more houses to buy, about 4 more daedric quests, and a ****load of other stuff. That stuff to find includes the unicorn and Umbra, even though I know vaguely where they are.

                        Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I've done both of those quests. Sidequests don't interest me because the rewards almost always suck. In both of those cases, the reward sucked. Money.

I've actually explored the entire map as well. On my unicorn.

I've had a full suit of glass armor for a long time now, which doesn't interest me at all since I can kill anything before it sees me anyway so I rarely take damage in the first place. Enemies started carrying Strong Potions of Health and Sorcery by the DOZENS so I have over 300 each of those I don't care to sell.

I have the best shortsword and the best longsword in the game. Heck I even have the best warhammer and battle axe if it means anything. I just throw crap into a corner of my house so I don't have to sell it since it might be useful which it's not since the Dark Brotherhood robe is the best clothing to wear ever.

It was fun while it lasted, but I've run out of things to do. Good game. Well worth the two weeks I spent playing. My character ended at level 27 or so with three skills Mastered and three in Expert.

                          Yay doublepost.

Broke into a million gold. I wanted to see what the biggest number was. Apparently it's not 999,999.

Decorated the mansion. No screenshots of it, but I did it. I just threw all this random 10,000 gold crap all around the house in a neat fashion.

Then took screenshots of other stuffs:

Flying around town. That's Chorrol by the way. Oh, and that's the Umbra sword.

                          Same location, different side.

                          Testing Hall.

There are like 20~30 working doors. I'd rather not =/

There are about 10 rooms that just hold items on tables. They are:

                              Armor
                              Clothing
                              Books
                              Weapons
                              Shields
                              Staves

                              And some other ones.

There's also a room with just a row of crates. Walking up to the crate for a description tells you the contents. They are listed as "All weapons" or "All armor".

The best room was the one I found last. Creature testing. It's a big open field of creatures separated from each other by short walls. Doesn't stop them from killing each other. Guess who wins? The Wraiths and some Daedra enemies.
