    Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Believe me, I thought it was all awesome as well. But when you start doing quests that require waiting, you're going to hate not being able to just press "t" and do it. Because doing so means you'll take damage when you come back in and not able to fast-travel until you feed, which might be a long time if you can't find someone sleeping at 3:00 in the afternoon.
Didn't I say I've completed all of the DB quests, some of those required waiting. It's never bothered me, even when doing quests. Infact I prefer it, that's why I haven't finished the quest to remove it yet, because it's fun to have that added challenge. I'm not in a rush to complete it all, so I'm not in a rush to hit "T".

Actually, no. They can go up to level 255.
Yes, I know. Same as morrowind. But to get to level 255 would take a hell of a long time sans cheating or abusing the system, to get to level 255 legally would take forever, that's all I meant.

      Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I suppose you're right on that.

But is it cheating to leave your character walking against a wall in sneak mode to keep increasing sneak while you do other things?

I did this in situations where I couldn't press "t" to wait sometimes. I found a nice corner, hit q and control, and went to get a snack.

I recommend to anyone before finally putting down this game for good to abuse the console commands and max out all the stats just to see what it's like. You won't be sorry.

        Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

heh why bother cheating like that? Sure look when I've completed this completely a couple of times, once with this here thief, possibly again starting as a mage, warriors are too..mundane at times to start with, then there are already hundreds of mods available, I'll mod it to hell and play on. I feel in a couple of months there will be enough mods to add a hundred hours to the game.

I only say this because I've already tried the console on morrowind and it was fun yeah, but once you do that you sorta don't want to play as normal anymore, which sucks the fun out of it.

Never had the need to max out sneak, look at my sneak in the picture up there ^^ (It's actually at 108 now), by the time I get to master level sneak it will be about 140. If I can't wait I tend to do other things ingame, too addictive to go wait haha. I hate the skeleton key, with it you can't improve security, so I threw it in my house heh, but when I get up to master that too will be 140. I just found an amulet that gives 33% damage resistance and +25 to blunt, both CE. Damn I love this game =[

I don't know about you, but when I beat this game for real on my main character I'm done with it. I've done like every quest already to waste time and gain Fame so I could cure diseases. I'm almost done with every single faction quest. I just haven't done the main quest.

You must find the hidden easter eggs, and super-hidden world that is only accessible through very clever means.

I assume there is a hidden place, because in a hgame like this, I can't imagine any developer that would make a hidden place filled stuff.

You can never fully complete this game.

There will always be something you overlook.

Anyway, I'm rolling on with some Mage's Guild quests now. Money's a pain at the moment, but that should change soon enough.

At about level 20 all the enemies will change and everyone will have daedric weapons and maybe armor. You'll be rich after that. In fact, the only problem with money you should be having after that is that no one will give you full value, it will cap at the store owner's limit. Man does selling suck ass in this game.

I'm just about to hit 40 hours. Pretty cool game. I'm in about 4 different factions with about top spot in 3 of them. Main quest I haven't really touched.. I've closed one gate and that is it. I just started the mage guild's quests.

I don't know how much it will help, but with an expert skill level in mercantile you can increase the amount of gold the shops are able to pay out. If it only increases a couple hundred it's probably not worth it, but it still can make a difference.
                    Nice.

                      Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Master in Mercantile makes it so every shop gets an additional 500 gold.

                      Pretty useful.

I have that problem too. I also have a problem with weight. So what I do is raid the place and take anything of value until I'm full, warp back to town and sell if it's daytime or drop it outside the store if it's not, then go back and continue the killins.

It's totally not necessary since I have 150,000 gold right now and nothing to spend it on. I bought a house already too (the mansion in Anvil).

Any idea if you can buy extra furnishings for that house? Not that you really need it since it adds its own after you kill the necromancer. I bought a shack outside the imperial city and bought furnishings from some guy. Never going to use that house..

Yeah, once you become an expert in Mercantile.. I'm only level 30-ish in mercantile though. Don't you have to invest anyway though?

I'm an expert in heavy armor which means that if I'm wearing armor it weighs nothing. So once I sell whatever and have a bare bones inventory I only have about 200/530. So I can hold a lot of silver plates ..

                          Re: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

So I broke 200,000 gold today and still have nothing to spend it on.

I finished the Mage Guild but still cannot see what the Orrery is... I wanna see =/

I also got the full suit of Glass armor. It looks so awesome. Still waiting on a Daedric Shortsword... got LOTS of daggers from the last part of the Mage Guild, and thankfully Daedric affects undead crap so no more silver garbage.

Unfortunately, I went to start doing the main quest again and figured out I can't. I sold Mythic Dawn Commentaries III. No idea to who, but it seems shopkeepers, like chests, eventually reset the goods they have so even if you sell something to them, they get rid of it sooner or later.

Unless someone knows another distributor for this book, I'll have to use console commands...

Checked there a looong time ago. When you first get it, you have to stop someone right after he gets it from the bookstore and ask for it. He doesn't buy another copy because he's like scared of the book, and the owner of the bookstore had a hard enough time getting that copy.

I just console commanded it back in.

Currently doing the main quest since I'm done with all the faction quests and sidequests are getting tedious.

I've learned that you can create your own spells. Squeek, if your destruction level is high enough you can create some very powerful and very expensive spells that sound like they would be fun to use. For the more powerful ones you are going to need a lot of magicka, though. For example, if you max out the stats of a destruction spell (tons of damage/duration/distance) it will cost you over 3 million gold and like 12k magicka (which is impossible without cheats). But if you run out of things to do, this sounds like a fun alternative. You can of course create powerful spells that are obtainable for a reasonable price/magicka cost, too.

Spells are created in the Santuary in the Imperial City that you gain access to after getting all your recommendations in some of those shops in the back. You can also imbue items with soul gems however you see fit. I used a grand soul gem to put a +10 Blade fortifier on an amulet for battle. The things you can create are practically endless.
