Ultra Beatdown pack released!! (video preview included)

Unfortunately considering the prevalence of DragonForce hating on these boards I feel the need to address these people: LEAVE. If you're not a fan of DragonForce there was no need to even open this thread and I'm pretty confident that you wouldn't be able to contribute to this thread positively. Thank you.

*edit* Let me clarify: As robertsona pointed out, eliminating non-DF fans would compromise constructive feedback. So I'll say this: Everybody's welcome, but please don't post bias comments due to the songs. A lot of the things that've been done can only be explained by actually stepping the file.

There are two URL options for downloading:

    http://files.filefront.com/DragonFor.../fileinfo.html

    Files included:

    1. Heroes of Our Time
    2. The Fire Still Burns (exclusive to the pack)
    3. Reasons to Live
    4. Heartbreak Armageddon
    5. The Last Journey Home
    6. A Flame for Freedom
    7. Inside the Winter Storm
    8. The Warrior Inside (exclusive to the pack)
    9. Strike Of The Ninja (exclusive to the pack)
    10. Scars Of Yesterday

    Bonus track:

    E.P.M.

    Authors who participated:

    SulferDragon
    Gehodra
    N.T.M.
    ssbmchamp

    Video preview:

My apologies for not including some more clips like I originally intended. To make a long story short, due to complications with my computer I was obligated to butcher the original video. It's a little short now IMO, but optimistically at least now there's more of a surprise element.

Well enjoy the files guys and have a super day!!

I'm not gonna lie: I hate Dragonforce, and they make ****ty files. Like, ****TY, seriously.
Okay. I looked at the preview.
A lot didn't look PR and the jacks didn't look right AT ALL.
The sound at 0:25 in the video is definetely not 16ths, maybe 24ths or 32nds.
You could've incorporated more sounds than the guitar. :/
Sometimes there were cool drum patterns but only 8th notes going on in the guitar, and you would just step the guitar.
You also missed a few sounds.
I'm not going to download this, because, frankly, Dragonforce and any files made out of them make me barf.
From a pattern perspective, these files actually don't look bad.
    Whatever.

Commonly there are very faint intermediate notes that produce the illusion of faster notes. And regarding the layering: some of the files have word documents enclosed addressing specifically that. It's just a style preference I guess. I appreciate you listening to the very first thing I said.

*edit* All the jacks are correct BTW.

Well that's okay, but if the file gets boring because it's ALL stepped to guitar, why not change it? robersona has a good point on that drum part.

Well hey no need to be a dick. If you want good criticism, you're not gonna get it from people who just say, "lol i love dragon force 5/5 you rock for stepping them" In your original post you said dragonforce haters wouldn't be able to contribute to the thread positively. But hey, look at that robertsona did, cause constructive criticism is a good post.

Sorry if you weren't mad at him, but your last post gave me the impression you were.

Song choice is part of what makes a file good or bad, you know.
And DragonForce is simply bad song choice; sorry for being blunt but it's one of the few bands that simply cannot make great files.
NOTE THIS: Your files aren't actually bad; they're actually much better than I expected.
Sure, they're not masterpieces but who was expecting them to be?
I think you have a lot of potential, just......BRANCH OUT!
Step more interesting stuff, you know?

Often times layering the drums is neglected during the guitar to emphasize the guitar. Including the drums in places would almost certainly detract from more fun beats. When the guitar isn't as intense the drums play a more key role in maintaining difficulty and the "fun factor" .

And no I wasn't trying to be a dick. It just seemed like he completely disregarded the OP which is obviously the bases for the thread. I was just trying to reduce the people that're all like "DF sucks, go die."

And regarding why I wouldn't step them: I've tried before and unless they're very clear people usually don't like it. You obviously reap criticism either way though.

Well thank you. I guess like you said though: a lot of DF doesn't produce great steps. The potential is limited. The guitar is always the highlight. That's why I often don't layer much there.

But hey everybody's entitled to their own opinion. I respect yours.

Yeah, I don't think you should layer the drums at all times otherwise it would be LOL QUADMASH DUMP.
I think if a song has an uninteresting guitar part and at the same time a really cool drum part that stands out, you should step it. If the guitar part is only 8th notes and the drum part has potential for cool patterns with 16ths and 24ths or even 32nds, I say step that ****! Contrary to what a lot of people tell you, a file doesn't have to be COMPLETELY consistent to be a good file. If it makes the steps better, you can drop the guitar part and step the drums for a while, and then switch back.

Once again, I refer to the post I made before. You can't say "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THAN DON'T POST" because it leaves no room for criticism and the thread is rendered useless. I understand that many people just base your files off the songs, which is kinda dumb, but you REALLY shouldn't step DragonForce, and every good stepper knows that. I think that's basically the biggest step you're going to have to make to become a good stepper, because you really are pretty good except for that .

Well my next files are gonna be metal (not DF). Hopefully that'll enable some better files. And I guess I'll go edit the OP clarifying what you said.

Yeah while I don't love metal as a song or file choice it would be extremely stupid to disapprove of a whole genre. Just try to find some cool songs with solos that DON'T consist of straight 32nd stream. Maybe even some super-syncage files. Challenge yourself! Also I hear a lot of people are attempting Dream Theater; I haven't heard any of their songs, but maybe you should try them out...that is, if they aren't HOLY **** IMPOSSIBLE to step. But yeah, whatever. Also if you want me to test ANY of your files, I'd be happy to........
ALRIGHT FINE I'M DOWNLOADING THE PACK JUST BECAUSE YOU GOT ME INTERESTED NOW.
                  brb with reviews.
EDIT: Good, your edit is spot-on with what it should be.

Dream Theater is absolutely hell to step. The only way I'd ever step their stuff is if I knew it'd be in some super-popular pack. In places there are like tempo changes every second with a note variety that'd make you gag. Scary stuff to attempt accurately stepping DT. I'll leave that to Glove.

eh, i am not a big Dragonforce fan, cuz a lot of their musci is repetitive and sound alike, but these files look like fun to play, so i will give them a shot.

Their songs are extremely long so they can use a lotta "filler". That's where the endless 16th drum streams and triplets come into play giving them a bad reputation. In their new album though it's actually noticeably reduced. Still present in some songs, but you get the idea .

Oh they can make some GREAT files, but it's like this compared to a song that's almost as good: 6x more work and 20% better. You really need to have a lotta motivation to step them.

I'll try to come up with a review for this later. I certainly can't review nine (not reviewing my own) different Dragonforce files all in one day... I would go insane.
