"Veteran" Status Discussion

Alright. I think it's time I introduce FFR to a more efficient way of classifying "veteran" members:

First, we need to know the definition of a true veteran. According to the current requirements, one could have literally signed up on FFR in 2008, played for a couple of months, left forever, and still be able to acquire the veteran status. So, the definition as of now, is something along the lines of "Get 3 billion. Wait 3 years. And you're a vet"

I signed up on FFR in November 24th, 2010, with less than 3 months of rhythm gaming (SM) experience. From then I:

- Gained 3+ BILLION points in 14 days
- Have over 1400 posts in the forums
- Participated in over 10 tournaments
- Have played over 21000 games
- Accumulated almost 10 billion points (9,474,321,020)
- AAA'd over 40 FMO's.

This just goes to show you how active I've been.

I'm not here to complain about how I should be a vet and why others shouldn't be. Of course, I feel that I should be eligible of having vet status but the point of making this thread was so that the admins would come up with a more accurate and reasonable way of classifying "veteran" members. Then, being a vet would actually mean something. We would consider it an accomplishment. The veterans would be considered active, contributing members who helped FFR have a stronger community. It would be another thing to be very proud to achieve, like an ONI get, or an FGO AAA. It would actually MEAN something.

What do you guys think?

Combination of the two, or a higher amount of one or the other. Yup.
6 years, or 12bil gt has my vote.

Ps, signed up Nov 14th, 2011?

EDIT: Did a quick breakdown:
<1 year - 12 bil gt
1 year - 9 bil gt
2 year - 6 bil gt
3 year - 3 bil gt
4 year - 2 bil gt
5 year - 1 bil gt
6 year - 500mil gt
7+years - 5 gt

Maybe some sort of formula that relates grand total to the number of years spent, so that the more score you have the less time you have to have been a member for? As it is now, 3 billion for 3 years. What if this formula made it so that if you get 6 billion, you'd only need to be a member for 1.5 years? (Just an example to show how a formula would work, I actually believe getting 6 billion should bring it down more than just 1.5 years xP) Just a suggestion though :P

This sounds a lot more rational and reasonable than the current vet requirements.

lol Zageron, I fail at dates for some reason. I wrote a check for my school a few days ago and put 2010 for the date.

How about all the village elders get together and decide who is worthy of being a veteran by a 2/3rd majority vote.

Edit: Is there even an automatic system in place yet?

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion

Veteran status is just here to tell you that the reason why that player's name is blue, is because he signed up 3 years ago. To me, points, posts, "experience", have nothing to do with becoming/being a veteran.
Some war veterans did not even fight in a war.

Edit: Why not just conjure a whole new title for "elite" members?
Sure, we got the admins, mods, simfile authors, ffr music producers... but where are the indications for elitist?
none

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion

Someone (I think rushy or yo man) made a graph with a linear relationship between GT and Account age, 12b GT at 0years, going down to 0b GT at 6 years (although a minimum like 500k or 1b should probably be better). I agree with that logic, that age of the account should lower the minimum GT to get vet. AP should have his damn vet status rite naoh.

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion

I think "veteran" status should be something that has to do with how much experience the person has with the FFR website in general, like with requirements along the lines of being a member for X amount of years with Y amount of forum posts and maybe some others.

Also, i think we should create a new status, like "elitist" that people have mentioned, that is based on your FFR skills. This status would then be based off of AAAs/tier points/GT/av rank/etc. Some combination of a few of those.

But yeah something needs to change, 16.7 billion points and im still not a vet lol

Until you can play veteran songs on Velocity's engine using in-game login (my only option), I declare being a veteran entirely pointless and refuse to make a recommendation on its requirements.

Carry on.

I saw it, but everyone else seemed to ignore it so I decided to expand on it sorta.

I honestly don't think scoring should be a target when achieving veteran status. One reason I say this, is because I only have 3.x billion points in over 7 years. But, I've been active in these 7 years, so I should still be considered a veteran despite the scoring requirements.

Tl;dr, no fair way to determine vet status in my opinion

Okay, I liked what was mentioned earlier.
Vet status = 3 years, 2000 posts?

FFR Gameplay Whore (obviously we need a title for it) =
AAAs/FCs/TPs/GT segments.

Vet probably should be something unrelated to scores.
