Perhaps you've heard of a relatively unsuccessful game series called Pokemon, but they hold events (i.e. the Fateful Encounter Celebi event) many years after a game comes out. Last I checked about 23 million people bought Pokemon Silver or Gold, games which were TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT until Nintendo held their event years later.

I think you need to learn a bit of patience >_>
Pokemon Gold and Silver were never impossible to beat, and adding new events to a game years after it's released is not the same as adding events to a game that take years to complete. You need to learn some logic/learn better pokemans trivia.

He was referring to the pokedex, I'd assume, which until that event was impossible to complete.

Either way, "other games did it" isn't justification. Two flawed game mechanics don't make each other okay.

Especially when one of the games in question is user-managed and easily fixable.

Yeah. Complaining about not being a veteran is similar in my opinion to complaining about only having 250/251 Pokemon. Sure, you don't have EVERYTHING, but there's a hell of a lot of game out there for you to enjoy (totally free I might add), and you're just gonna have to wait a few years for those last few things. Not particularly unusual.
I honestly don't see any real reason why people are so up in arms about being a veteran in the first place.

You would take that back if you joined FFR last year. Patience? 3 years is completely unnecessary. It doesn't even mean that you're experienced in anyway. Just because an account is 3 years old, it doesn't mean the person is experienced, they could've just made their account in 2007, got 3 bill (which is possible to get for a D1B player) and left forever and yet they would be vets by now.
I have a dig bick.

Becoming a goddamn VETERAN is not needed to become an FFR PLAYER.

YOU DO NOT NEED IT.
please re-read the sentence above.

We all understand that many people want to become a veteran but, you do not need to become one.
You are not missing much.
It is not relevant.
You do not need to check anyone's else lvl stats.
You do not need a blue name.

Once again, you do not need veteran status.
Understand that being a veteran does not mean that you are skilled.

Skill is almost irrelevant when it comes to becoming an ffr vet.

And, again, you do not need to be a veteran.

You do not need to be a veteran.

No, I really wouldn't. I honestly never use any of the veteran functions and don't particularly care if I am one or not. People will know me and my experience by how I act within the community far more than the color of my name on the forums (which also wouldn't change if I wasn't a vet because I'm a simfile author trololol).

About the only thing I'd miss is being able to review the Veteran song file a week before it was released, but that's not the end of the world lmao. Oh God I have to wait a week longer to play one file, better go kill myself.
Oh wait there's more than a thousand other files I could play in the meantime, not a big loss >_>

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion

Like I said a few times already, I'm not especially attached to the title veteran. I just want access to songs (especially fantastic ones like Heavenly Spores) as soon as they're released and the ability to look at other players' detailed ranks. These are things I want without having to endure an arbitrary waiting period for a game I have 13bn points and < 230 avrank in.

Munoz: Thanks. I learned absolutely nothing from that bullshit. Of course I don't need to be a veteran. I don't need to play FFR at all. I don't need to use the internet for that matter, or any technology at all, for anything. I don't need to be alive, if we're going to take this to extremes. Was there a point to your irrelevant spazzing? In a thread called Veteran Status Discussion, I'm discussing Veteran Status. I don't need your permission to continue to do so.

I absolutely agree this feature should be available to everyone. Not going to dispute that at all, it's silly some of the things that are veteran-only.

The problem here is how the perks are distributed, not the system of determining who is a vet itself.

Veteran- 1. a person who has had long service or experience in an occupation, office, or the like
2. a person who has served in a military force, especially one who has fought in a war

Anybody who serves in the military and fights in a war is technically a veteran. The amount of time they spend fighting is not what determines whether or not they are a veteran.

When you use the term veteran and you are talking about anything besides the military, that is when the amount of time comes into play.

You keep saying you WANT to be able to do what veterans do because you think you NEED the access that veterans have.
Acquiring veteran status is plain and simple; refer to PURE GENIUS' post.
You sir' are whining about not having something, and it is childish.

Being an ffr veteran is not based upon skill you dope.
If you want a title for your elitism then go make a thread that specifically details the requisite to become an elitist. Other than that, you can only wait.
