Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
In my opinion, Vet status should be easier to achieve for casual/mediocre players such as myself. When one scores 300-700k per song, it's a tall order to hit 3 billion, let alone 10. It took me a couple months to add 100 mil to my GTS, but I'm an active member, and have been a member for over half the time FFR has been up. Does that mean I should be classified an "FFR Player"?
As the other guys have mentioned, some could join, whore FFR for a few weeks/months leave forever, and still get Vet status in the passing years. I have neither the time or skill to beast any song and get lolcrazyhaxcheezburger GTS, and as a result, I don't get Vet.
Tl;dr Vet is too hard to get for people who suck at the game. Though I suck, I'm a regular on the website and I want should honourably be bestowed Veteran status.Originally posted by apersonyoloComment

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
There needs to be some kind of realistic time requirement if you're going to give someone the title of Veteran. I would say the minimum time requirement should be one year (with a grand total significantly higher than 3 billion) because we don't want people joining the site off SM and becoming a veteran in 3 months by racking up quick GTS.

My main concern about people becoming a veteran is that they aren't douche bags.Comment

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
I think there should be different types of Veterans, like different categories.
a) Game Veteran: Those who've played the game and achieved X amount of points.
b) Forum Veteran: Someone who's contributed much to the forums, and pretty much knows how things go around there. (maybe x amount of posts, but that just leads to post whoring. Maybe add +1'ing a post, and then require getting X amount of +1's?)
c) Site Veteran: Those old people who've been here a long time.
d) Combo Veteran: People who've achieved more than one Veteran title (can opt. to have both showing, or just combo vet)
e) Elite FFR Supporter: People who've either achieved every single Veteran title, are beyond extremely helpful, or some other thing you guys come up with.

Also, going along with the ( ) of b: Adding +1's for posts (not G+ +1's), could eliminate wasting posts with "+1" or "this".

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
ymia, I'm actually liking that group setup you did. Only concern I see is the massive number of groups that creates lol. It almost doubles what we have now. But at the same time, if you make them all one color/group, and just have it display the subgroups, that would work. So we'd still be light blue if we fell into any of those categories, I just might say XXXX Veteran, while someone else might say YYYY Veteran.
Something else I noticed is that if you make each one an individual group, you will have each group whining about not having special perks. If they all remain one "group" of Vets, then they all get access to Vet features, but for various reasons.Last edited by justin_ator; 09-23-2011, 01:40 PM.

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
Well, we could always just have it so that the basic 3 have X perks (not too many) Combo gets a little more, and then Elite, obviously, get's leet perks.
Or, just don't give perks at all.

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
Well I think the current Vet perks are a start, no sense in getting rid of them. Lol.

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
I don't see why we don't just have a "Game Veteran" group, which has the whole x billion points and other statistics requirements, and another "Site Veterans" group which can be picked by the staff (as in new additions can be made when the admins see fit). It wouldn't be like ffYa, but a group of people who the admins think are great contributors to the site, have been on the site for a good amount of time, are active playing the game and in the forums, etc.RIP Steve Van Ness <3Comment

The staff won't want to maintain/update that list though... Basically what that list would be is "future mods that we don't want to give any powers to" lol =]

Re: "Veteran" Status Discussion
That is really not what a veteran is. The word veteran implies skill and experience. There's no reason someone who joined 7 years ago but has done nothing but lurk forums should get the ability to play vet songs and look at everyone's levelranks over someone who actually plays the game. Member length should have nothing to do with veteran. Vet. is. not. about. community. involvement.I honestly don't think scoring should be a target when achieving veteran status. One reason I say this, is because I only have 3.x billion points in over 7 years. But, I've been active in these 7 years, so I should still be considered a veteran despite the scoring requirements.
I agree with the village elders idea, but also, maybe a system where someone's AAA's + FC's + Tiers add up to more than some arbitrary number, like 1000. I don't know. I just know it's ridiculous to have the 3 year requirement there. One year would maybe be reasonable, but three years is just a "wait, because wait, lol" requirement. I don't care if the only requirement for vet is 5 GT. Just get rid of the three years X_X It has nothing to do with anything.
Can you imagine having to play any other game for 3 years to be considered a vet? Can you imagine a war hero who fought on the front lines in 50 major battles, has 5000 kills under his belt, a Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, Victoria Cross, Order of Badassmother****ers, etc... being told he's not actually a veteran because, oops, it took him less than three years to do all that? That's one hell of a C-c-c-c-c-BULLSHIT.Last edited by Mike Weedmark; 09-23-2011, 02:45 PM.
