you're making a terrible implication that every single person is going to "step the same file" 20 times, when everyone approaches files in a different way.

One of the coolest parts about the last stepcon was the four drastically different cuts of Bulldozer in the finale which meant that not only was it people stepping the same file 20 times, they were hardly even stepping the same song. I remember seeing your cut and how you stepped some of the more intense parts I didn't include and smacking myself for not including them (and maybe stepping them similarly).

I do think the stepcon being fun and enjoyable is highly dependent on the song choices, obviously. My only feedback from last contest would be that average chart quality would probably skyrocket if at every point in the contest every participant has at least two choices, although I understand it's hard work finding the right songs, and enough of them.

well i chart files and i would very well be willing to chart a song for this but not if i cant choose it, i cant chart songs i dont like

One of the aspects of the contest is bringing steppers out of their comfort zone. Although there definitely is a good middle ground of making steppers uncomfortable, and not miserable.

By having multiple charts per group you inevitably introduce bias because many people will tend to prefer a chart of a song they like (as opposed to a similar chart on a song they dislike). I really don't understand how you guys suggesting multiple song choices expect such a format to work; what would the judging be like ?

Please don't give us a song that has tempo changes or needs tempo changes to keep patterning through a sostenuto unless we can have a "Not very good at stepping" category to compete in :P

(Or by giving us a pre-synced .sm you've also already put in the tempo changes :P )

I mean the format of this isn't going to change for you, so it's kinda take it or leave it if you wanna try it. The point isn't for you to step what you normally would, submit to batch if you want that. I really don't know what more there is to say on it.

I haven't participated in the previous stepcons but I should also mention that after spending hours in a file, being able to compare the end result with what others come up with is a great learning opportunity.

Even if you amuse the idea that 20 new different charts weren't stepped because of the stepcon, in the long term I think it's still good if the future output of the involved stepartists gets any better or diversified from the event.

Anyway I'm in. Hopefully I'll have enough time when the stepcon starts.

If i recall right it comes presynced to avoid that being a focused critique.
