Patashu (I still like his judging)
Also, if I have an updated version of a file of a song that was in the latest queue before Tass stopped it, can I send the updated version in and it be swapped?
Umm, why am I considered a nominee when I'm currently still volunteering to judge? IIRC, only dore wanted out - and that itself might be temporary while he's busy.
I'm guessing that it would still apply, but I'm not really sure. The original intent for that rule was to make FFR a functional game for the most part to every user, and that would include those who don't have keyboards that register three or more keys simultaneously by default.
For those of you who are well into the game, this would hinder stepping creativity for files of that difficulty, but from a internet traffic perspective, having songs (except FMOs and FGOs) be completely functional for every keyboard is more user-friendly.
And once one decides to be serious about playing FFR, the former casual player with a keyboard that only registers two keys would be more motivated to find out how to make his keyboard register more keys simultaneously. Other than that, the casual player with the same keyboard would be turned off to find that a quarter of the songs on FFR can't be played to his likings - and that casual player wouldn't likely bother to modify his keyboard.
That's pretty much how I understand the implementation of the rule.
In addition to the keyboard issue bmah mentioned, there're still many people who hate hands and think they are complete bull**** (especially DDRers). so some restriction will remain because files without hands are needed, current restriction could be loosened a bit though.
Will we ever allow multiple charts per song and end the endless tyranny of 'every new song on FFR is a VC/FMO'???
I think this was discussed before and the problem was more along the lines of 'people don't submit a lot of easy charts for hard songs'. We've had a lot of v2's in the game before, so I don't think putting easy charts ingame would be against FFR's philosophy, even if some people might prefer not to do that.
PS: there are actually a bunch of unreleased widget songs out there that are easier charts of preexisting songs... for instance DSoK has a Light and Standard version.
Best AAA: Policy In The Sky [Oni] (81)
Best SDG: PANTS (86)
Best FC: Future Invasion (93)
yeah there'd be multiple charts allowed if there were multiple charts for each song in the game and separate ranking for each difficulty, if you know what I mean.
