I don't reject files just if they're bad, I reject them if they're not good enough. And really, song choice unfortunately is a huge factor for a file's potential. Stop stepping dumpstream songs with 16th hi-hats for 2 minutes. This isn't 2004 fellas

If a song has no potential (such as the (most likely fictitious) one you described), then I suppose the file will be bad and thus you can say THAT is a bad song choice.

But you CANNOT reject a song based on how much you like the song. For example, say I hate most Dubstep, Rap, Pop, and J-Core/K-Pop/aznboi-sounding music. *cough*

I can't judge fairly on that.

FFR already has so much ching chong wapanese music (guilty of this myself, of course). Also way too many bms artists. I try to encourage people to step other things, but if they want to keep stepping more of the same then that's their choice, I won't judge the songs themselves when reviewing the file.

But people can step what they want- the song itself should not be a factor (barring outright troll submissions)
A "poor song choice" will lead to a poor file by definition, if the file itself passes muster then the song choice obviously wasn't bad, despite how much you might hate the song itself. Someone obviously likes the song, or else they wouldn't have stepped it >_>

Erm... What exactly is a "troll submission" in terms of musical choice?

I could argue things like Submission Rules, 300 This Is Sparta Mix, and The Pylons are Trap Balls are "troll submissions" based on song choice, but they made it through.

I step a lot of their songs because it has musical variety that other artists lack. So in no way am I a stepping dullard.

Submission Rules is definitely a troll submission, but it was a good troll haha

I don't think meme songs or songs such as AOAO count as troll submissions. They are legitimately enjoyed by people.
I was thinking something like Static TV or Vuvuzelas as obvious troll songs.
