laptop getting shot was awesome but i'm w/ dossar on this, bad parenting leads to destruction of their own property, if this is even considered funny it's because that guy totally could have made like $200 off that laptop and now it's not worth shit because he basically got trolled by his daughter.

Say what you want but I'm actually with the dad on this. (unlike some comments etc.)
We have so many unproductive, bratty and plain moronic people who pollute the populace nowadays, it's quite disgusting.
(and this is coming from a liberal)

Her attitude is basically: "Don't wanna do shit and make a big emotional rant about it."
Basic Appeal to emotion (Pathos) fallacy and some of you are falling for it.

Also, if I were to do something like this about my parents I don't know what the consequences would be. Learn some respect.

PS: That ending albeit being a bit extreme was a nice touch. 4/5.

yeah, she's lucky, a lot of people don't even have a bed

the parent's arm was strong, which I admire, but he had the wrong angle on it, and it's coming off as over the top imo

                        Re: Simply awesome!

this is -far- from psychological abuse - if the teen had the audacity to sit there and disrespect/undermine any sort of authority that her parents (namely, her father) time and time again after having a silver spoon in her mouth, then she deserves that strong of a message to show that she shouldn't be complacent.

i'm sorry, but if your parents give you everything you need and everything you want, then they're entitled to take it away, regardless of how aggressive it is. to be fairly honest, I highly doubt that this would have happened if the daughter hadn't made this post.

edit: and before anyone makes an irrelevant argument about things you can potentially have an emotional attachment to that would otherwise be abusive to destroy or dispose of through aggressive means; i'm talking about purely materialistic needs, like a computer or a car, or whatever, not something like a pet

With today's social structure, these things are really that materialistic to fitting in and having friends anymore.

5 years ago or so I'd completely agree with you on this argument, and I still agree that they're materialistic items realistically. Sadly, with how people in the next generation are as I've seen by visiting my old school only 1 and a half short years after leaving, I'm inclined to say A simple conversation actually would have been a better approach to this.

I don't agree this man is a bad parent at all, I do agree however he over reacted slightly. Forcing her to pay for the software and labor would have been perfectly fine. Making her get a job at 15 however in this economy is ****ing impossible. You literally have to be up against druggies and drinkers or criminals to succeed.

Psychological abuse this is not on a final note. She seems like even for a "redneck" family she comes off as one of the "richer" people. She needs a good wake up call. Maybe shooting the laptop will do that for her. I don't know. Maybe she was just extremely pissed off that day and wanted just to let off some steam. None of us can know that. Not even the father because he pretty much jumped the gun.

I honestly can't believe that people are siding with the 15 year-old on this. Really? We were all 15 at some point, chores and doing what you're told to do instills responsibility (or at least, it's supposed to) so you're not a massive piece of shit when you become an adult. With how easy it is to connect to the internet, kids are exposed to so much shit that detracts from the values you should get from parenting/school/etc. It's a false sense of entitlement, taking what you have for granted.

This is not abuse. At all. Yeah, shooting her laptop wasn't the best thing ever, but whatever.

                              Children are our future.

If he works in IT, then $130 is not going to be much. If he's firing a weapon in public, it's because he rightfully owns the property that he's standing on, and I'm willing to bet that he owns much more property than seen in this video.

                                - "You are disrespectful to every adult in your life": AGEISM as justification for this shit? This is basically being like "stay in your place, we're your parents, you suck". I wonder how worried the daughter is now about being a perfect little princess (read: servant) to the world!
lmao AGEISM doesn't exist when it comes to parenting. Maybe you've had an easy childhood, but seriously. You are twisting the video. Ever heard the phrase, "children should be seen, not heard?" The father was a kid once too (!!!), so he knows what it's like. He learned from his childhood experience, and he's using that experience to raise his daughter. It's entirely her fault if she's disrespectful.

                                - His thing about his past is making him all "my life sucked, so yours will too" about this. And how exactly will being this stupid fix your daughter? Again, instead of being a supportive parent to EXPLAIN things to her, he tries using forced BS.
Again, experience. It's not BS lmao, he's legitimately using his life experiences to try to "fix" his daughter, as you put it. Of course, parents are supposed to be supportive but hey, if I had a kid and she tried to mouth off about me behind my back, you bet your ASS that there will be consequences.

                                - Rather than fixing up the relationship, this is trying to coerce the daughter into humiliation. Humiliating your daughter online instead of trying to help her as a supportive parent? GG man, how do you feel about yourself?
You're not taking into account that she posted something on her facebook that was extremely disrespectful to her parents. You wouldn't be mad? With every action, there's a consequence. Someone who thinks there won't be a consequence or doing something with complete disregard for the outcome is called a sociopath.

                                - School does take some significant time too, and a lot of other factors can be taken into account - clubs, community service, hobbies. "Get up and get on the bus. that's all your responsibilities" - so actually *gasp* concentrating on school to help get a good future isn't a responsibility?!?!
Of course school is a responsibility. Clubs and hobbies are not. They aren't needed. Her responsibilities include school and housework. If she has time after that, then she can pick up a hobby or join a club. You wouldn't skirt your job (responsibility) to go fishing or gambling (hobbies).

If you ask me, this is very close to psychological abuse. The "bullet into the laptop" is nothing more than a compulsive act of revenge on the daughter to try making the father feel better. This is an example of how reasoning isn't being used, but instead force and bad parenting. I'm starting to think this video is viral also because it is bad parenting.
No, reasoning is being used. Shooting her laptop was probably a bit over the top (he could have sold the laptop), but the point is that she needs to learn her place and show some responsibility.

This could have simply been solved with a reasonable discussion between the parents and the daughter. But NOPE, looks like the father had to go all internet attention whore and show a lack of empathy for his daughter.
Lmfao, she posted a huge rant on her facebook about how her parents are terrible and you have the gall to call her father the attention whore? OKAY.
