      Re: Quitting smoking.

I'm really glad to see a lot of people quitting

My dad smoked for 35 years straight. Last year, he got emphysema and is currently on oxygen, he said that he pretty much smoked anything you could think of.

Smoking today apparently isn't what it used to be. Back then it was "normal" for people to smoke, because they didn't know the consequences. That's karma for ya.

But today when people smoke, most teenagers do it because they want to be "cool" and tell all their friends that they smoked a joint.

I'm never going to smoke in my life, it's obviously horrible for your system, I look up to my dad as an example for that.

Great job! Packs are up to around $9 here now. I don't know how so many people can still afford to smoke.
        Grats, man.

            Re: Quitting smoking.

I've smoked for a while now, no intentions of quitting. I tried quitting for a week, and in that week I literally gained 4 pounds. It's helps control my eating habits, and I'm addicted you could say. Grats on the qutting though, I'm jealous of anyone who didn't start smoking in the first place.

              Re: Quitting smoking.

I used smoking as a way to keep my weight down but I was gradually gaining weight as the years progressed. My weight has been much more stable since I quit...I gained weight in the beginning and then it dropped off.

                      Re: Quitting smoking.

I've never smoked anything and the entire idea bugs the crap out of me. It makes no sense why anybody would start.

When I pass somebody that is smoking I will purposefully cough loudly because I don't appreciate having to walk in contaminated air due to somebody else's stupid choice. I also absolutely hate the smell.

Grats on quitting though. I know many people who have tried and failed. That's just another reason not to start, I suppose.

                      I'm retired

                        Re: Quitting smoking.

I still never really understood why people even decide to start smoking. Not only does it put your health at risk, but it also kills your wallet. Almost everyone I know who smokes agrees that they were better off before picking up on the bad habit.

Anyways congrats on your non-smoking streak. Continue to keep us updated

Roll your own cigarettes. Cuts the price.

                          Carton of tubes: $3.
                          Bag of tobacco: $18.
Machine: depends, but the really good one is $40 and it lasts a really long time.

krunky paid about $25 for cigarettes for a month before he started to quit.

The only thing that I miss about smoking is how many friends you make when you are standing in adverse weather trying to light a cigarette and there are other people in the same predicament.

                              adversity breeds companionship

                              also, i smoke.

when i picked it up i was smoking all the time, pack a day type shit, but once you clear the concepts up in your mind to where you don't have to smoke everyday or all the time, you learn to enjoy cigarettes at suitable times.

I was addicted to caffeine then one day I randomly decided to quit drinking pop and anything with caffeine. I felt like crap for the first few days and now I feel fine. It's been like 7 months now. You can doo it.

btw, I know no caffeine is nothing like quitting smoking.
