Re: 22 year old guy having sex with a 16 year old girl
if i was her dad...i would...pay someone...to rape him...up the ass.
but if i wasnt her dad i wouldnt give a **** so what is she was 16 thats the age of consent in my state but you still have 2 be under 18 to have sex with someone that is 16 so the law is still very flawed
Re: 22 year old guy having sex with a 16 year old girl
Scott, you know I love you for that. <3

EDIT: I also want to include a little part on my behalf; considering I've been in the same exact situation. So you know what happened and stuff, blah blah. When I made the decision, and when I make decisions like this (illegal and whatnot) it's simple, really..
I've never been fond of guys that are around my age because they are immature, they have raging hormones, etc. To me it's so stupid just to see people in like.. high school getting with people in their grade because they "like" each other. Yeah, making out, etc. These guys don't have the mental capacity to understand what "love" or "caring" or "compassion" mean either, at least not with someone else.
Even if I present myself on FFR as if I'm this stupid little girl that doesn't understand these things, I really do. This is why I seek older guys all the time, ones that have BEEN in relationships and gone through stuff like I have.
I'm not even afraid to admit that the guy I'm with right now is 18. Yeah, so what? It's only a two-year age difference, it's not going to kill me.

"This was found in a fitness forum. A guy, 22, wants to have sex with a girl who's 16. I'm the dad of a 1 year old daughter. I am worried about her enough as it is, but I cant think of how much I'd worry about this if this was my daughter. I'm angry about this guy doing this, am I right to be angry? What would you do if your daughter was in this situation? (to make things equal, you can read the 22 year old guys side on his blog, http://www.becomingapua.com/2007/09/...a-16-year-old/ )"
I would like to note that in some states in our "beloved" America, do indeed have AoC's of 17 and 16. So it's not even taboo here in the states... Don't ask how I knew where this map was... *cough* I see no big deal, consent is the force that drives the courts, and as long as the courts aren't after I see nothing to bitch and moan about.
Re: 22 year old guy having sex with a 16 year old girl
scott: the difference in maturity levels between sixteen year olds and eighteen year olds is staggering, especially given the relatively small age difference.
The vast majority of eighteen year olds have proven themselves mature enough for most privileges, hence the age of adulthood. There's a good reason why that bar isn't set at sixteen It's also the reason I don't have a problem with a 49/18 relationship, but a 22/16 one certainly irks me.
Well, it's not the relationship that bothers me; it's the sex. If they can have a good, abstinent relationship, more power to them, as that would pretty much nullify all of my problems with it. In such a case, he's either not in it to take advantage of her youth and naivete to get sex, or he's willing to wait until she's mature enough to make that decision herself.
Sure, age isn't a factor on which maturity is judged, but it is a DAMN good indicator of it.

Not to turn this thread into an "OMG TEENAGE RELATIONSHIPS" debate, but you're making quite the generalization there. Not all teenage guys fit that description of yours, though I admit there are a lot who do. I'm not one to try and get into a relationship just for the sake of getting into a relationship, and I'd like to think that I could be compassionate towards and care for my girlfriend. Otherwise, I don't see the point.
I can see where you're coming from with the whole "I'd rather be with people who have been through it before" mentality though.

This is perfectly acceptable, and I have no idea why America's laws are so crappy.
YES! Finally someone agrees with America's laws being crappy.
I don't personally approve of the 16v22 age sh*. I think it's kind of wrong, but if that girl has some kind of Rapid Brain Growth going on where she "thinks" she's in love, I mean think about it, if the girls still in high school, theres going to be a sh*t load of hormones going on. That gives that old man an easier chance to go out with her or date rape.
I'm not trying to downgrade anyones points, I think that a lot of them are highly logical [Go scottish =D ], but you can't say that a person, especially a person thats still in high school, can think as a 22 year old.
You never know what the guy wants, maybe he does like her, doesn't want to have sex, and just wants to be friends. Then again, he could be an extreme pervert and wants to take advantage of girls that can make the wrong decisions.

Oh yes, I totally agree with you that there is quite a bit of difference between maturity levels, overall that is.
I'm more of saying, if you look at this individually, from person to person, you will not always find that this is true.
Also, if Ontario has it's laws like this, then obviously they think that she is. It's mainly an American-based view that will say that this is wrong. It's just the way we were raised and how the laws are stated.
If you go into third world countries, many rights of passages and ages of being "mature" change. Some countries have it at 16, some at 13, some somewhere else throughout the teen/adult hood. Other's may have it by certain goals to be reached, tasks to be done. A lot of things they do may be considered taboo to us, but to them it's perfectly acceptable. A lot of people have what may be called "statutory rape" or "lolilolilolisex" in other countries, but it's perfectly acceptable by their laws or standards. Does it mean that we're correct and they're wrong for doing what they do? No.
This is really, once again, a morals question for each individual, considering that it is legal.
EDIT: Looking at the map that Saik0 posted, http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...OCWorldMap.png
it also shows how ages vary. According to that, the consent drastically changes throughout the world. Of course this doesn't account for an overall acceptable consent age, but it does show there are countries who have the consent law at 14 and 16.

Trust me, I know there are some pretty good guys around my age. Sorry if it seemed as if I was making ALL guys look bad, but it's not true. It's just.. I tend to go for the older ones because they've gone through more, and they can teach me more. :/
