Owwww. That's gotta suck. Good luck studying for Comp Sci A. I can't teach myself anything worth crap, or else I'd go for it too.

I haven't yet found a situation in which perfect pitch isn't an advantage, sorry... I know that not everyone has it, and I know that most people don't. I'm a good sightreader, too (I've been told), so that'll help on the, um...sightreading. :/ Wait, did I have a point here...?

And please, it takes a lot less time to figure out what the chords are than you think it does. It's definitely the simplest part of those questions.
I just must not be doing it right, then, because I can manage to get maybe three chords if I'm lucky, at least on the practice ones we've done.

I'm amazing at figuring out intervals.
        Who's being egotistical, now?

I just have to not doubt my answers (everything I got wrong on my practice exam had the right answer originally, but I doubted myself, so I've gotta stop doing that) and work on doing the other dictations in a set time limit.
You have no idea how much that problem kills me. Just going with my first thought is what I need to start doing more of, even in way-different stuff like chess and other school subjects. Bleargh.

It is good to fear the AB test x.x; A classmate of mine said that NOTHING that's on the AB exam was covered in-class, which is modeled around the A exam. I took the A exam and I grasp almost all of the material we've covered, so if you want tips and pointers on what kind of stuff to expect (even though it's a long ways away until next May), feel free to shoot me a PM, or comment on my wall, or even IM me. I'd be happy to help. It can get a little overwhelming, especially without formal training (I'd imagine), so don't be shy about asking for help or whatever.

Even people with perfect pitch misidentify chords. Sometimes the voices get confused. ;D

Not everyone has it, yeah. But does that make it an advantage when it comes to analyzing nonaural tendencies? Absolutely not.

I'm saying that because I've never been wrong with interval identification, and have not been wrong, even after doing many a practice example. I'm not saying I'm perfect, there's still plenty of room for error, I'm just confident in my ability.

This is true, yes. But, being able to hear the pitches in my head can't hurt meh! :3

Well, it's good to have confidence. That's something very good to have when going into an AP exam.

Actually, depending on what you plan to do, it really, really, can.

If you go into a music field, you will have to go through ear training exercises, and you will be taught based on relative pitch (which is what I've had for the longest time). Basically, having relative pitch helps more on this test. Many people hear the first note of their sight-singing, and if they've developed relative pitch, they will hear the pitch and hear it as what they are used to (like, I hear a C as a D, because in the Bb transposition, concert C is a D scale) and go from there. They recognize the intervals from what they're used to, then they convert that back into the non-transposed version. This may seem confusing, yeah, but for those who have been trained, it's all happening as the piece is playing. But what if there is something you hear that you have to transpose? You hear the tonal center and are able to easily work from there if you have relative pitch, but with perfect pitch, transposing will become more difficult, because the way you hear it, you'll think the transposition is wrong. Not to mention that if something is not tuned to the standard tuning pitch (right on the dot of in tune on tuners), people with perfect pitch will have more trouble in said orchestra.

tl;dr: Relative pitch helps more. :3

I nailed essay 2 and did decent on essay 1. Multiple choice I felt I did mediocre but I think my writing will make up for it.

Oedipus Rex. Compared Oedipus with Tiresias.

The three free-response questions today were all ridiculously easy compared to the previous years. Poem I could actually understand, which is amazing, and the excerpt from Fasting, Feasting (I think that's what it's called) was pretty easy as well.

                      MC wasn't particularly difficult either.

                      Hoping for a 4.

AP Chemistry, AP Language, and then AP World. So far... I can perdict getting like a 3,4,or 5 on any of those exams (not a 3 on world). The thing is I keep practicing real exams, but just multiple choice so far. Now it's up to me to pull everything togather by next Tuesday, the beggining of my three tests. Just out of curiosity, anyone take those classes?

Try out the free-response questions soon, then...that's a lot of points that could screw up your score if you don't get them (go to CollegeBoard, AP, and then the specific AP course you want; then click on Sample Questions & Scoring, which will have years' worth of free-response).

I'm doing AP Chem on Tuesday; it doesn't seem too hard, but it's difficult to accept that I will be parted from my beloved TI-89 Titanium during the multiple choice.

Ouch. I was lazy. I used what they recommended and stuck with Huck Finn. Call it simplistic but I was still able to find the differences between Huck and Tom as well as Huck and Jim. I primarily compared Huck and Jim, since I could talk to about them a lot easier and could throw in the father-son element innit. Essay 1 and 2 were piss easy and I finished with plenty of time to spare.

MC on the other hand, was not as easy for me, since there were a few things I know I got wrong. But I know I chose "bigot" correctly, after narrowing it down to either that or "boor."
