      Re: FFR, the new Myspace?

This is all directed at Chromer, but worth reading for the rest of you.

I use the profile system occasionally. I don't view anyone else's, really. Mostly my own. I have so many people asking "can I b ur frend" and "visit my page lolol" all the time, simply because I'm on a few friend lists (Synth's and LD's being the primary causes). I don't really care, because what can they do? I ignore it.

There's really no reason to be worried about it. I can keep a dumb little blog on FFR now because it's FFR. If you don't like it, IGNORE IT. If you're griping about the profile system, then you're just looking for trouble. Hell, mead didn't even KNOW about the system until this topic. See what I'm getting at here?

Myspace exists. A lot of us hate it as you and I do, true. But it really doesn't affect me because I avoid it. I don't go around campaigning to get it shut down. That's the core idea I'm trying to get at here. If you don't let it bother you, it shouldn't. Realize that it's not affecting the game or forums. We do have the occasional idiot that comes in and complains how he got banned from the chat, etc., but that's not really a big deal. That's when we get to have our fun.

Just chill. It's not a problem now, and though I do understand your paranoia, FFR will likely remain the community it is for years to come. New, intelligent members come in, learn our style, and adapt to and adopt it. They can carry it on when we decide to grow out of FFR. I don't think the future of FFR will be very much affected, and I think your main goal here is really to just stop a trend before it continues.

I have faith in Synthlight and LD, and that faith is assuredly not on simple, passive grounds. Remember that they have not forgotten us. And in the unlikely case that they ever do, well, we can always get them to listen

On a more serious note, the day FFR gets taken over by myspace dronies and the like is the day that I control gaia and eventually overtake the internet.

              Awe I use(d) that.
Haha I just quit like. a week ago. I'm Canadian. By the way, this is the most American populated forum I've ever been to. Maybe because it's one of the only ones I've been to and it's by far the best. I think you don't have to worry about the little ****bags. They can do what they want. And why would you really want some veteran award? your profile has your member age on it anyways, and I think having your top ten highest ranking songs is pretty kick ass. Really, you shouldn't worry that much, some people seem to be over reacting. I can spot probably a thousand things Synth can add on to improve and make it more snazzy and appealing, but I know he doesn't really need my suggestions. He's moving in the right direction. And what really will happen if Synth takes away the profile all together? I'd be pretty sad. People set dates with me to multiplayer from commenting on my profile.

Hell, there's probably a hundred ex-myspace members in the forums, glad that they moved on to this instead of rotting away, commenting and making their page so neat. I quit nexopia because I don't need it when I can just talk with people that share alot of the same views as me. Anyways, I'll stop talking since theres alot of novels already in this thread.

Summary: Good work Synth, you did nothing wrong I strongly believe FFR will continue as it is. None of those kids have the credit the top FFR players already have.

lord_carbo you absolutely CANNOT speak for the ODI community considering you're a) not a member and b) know nothing of it.

What I seem to have a problem with is that some people are generalizing all myspace users as the "omg ur kool letz be friend" type of person. There are PLENTY of veterans and active, well respected users on ffr who use myspace and nexopia.

                          Re: FFR, the new Myspace?

Up until about three days ago, I used myspace. I got one when I moved to New York and left behind about sixty friends, and I used it to keep in contact with them, so I could know when to take trips back, when people would need me around, when I could help out with stuff, when to stay away, all that jazz. It was fun.

I got rid of it the other day because I moved back.

Chromer, head out of ass. Just because there are people who use profiles on here doesn't make the forum any less fun. Nor the chat, nor the MP, nor anything else. You're freaking out because some trendy internet fad has come along, and now anything that resembles it AT ALL is something evil that needs to be shunned.

Grow up. Not everyone that uses MySpace, Nexopia, Zoints (my favorite) or Facebook are dumb****s who only want friends to be added. They have practical uses, but of course, people who don't understand them tend to get all righteous about the good ol' days because that's what everyone else does when there's a trend.

                          Pleaasssseee get over it.

I think having a blog site is a little spiffier than a Myspace. You don't have people harping on you to be friends and your regular friends aren't usually people who slap annoying html with background music and those horrible background images on a page and call it good. Not that everyone on the Myspace does it, but there's certainly a lot of those people. It's a good thing that people who don't have time for a real site are able to start up their content on Myspace, though.

I sure hope FFR can never be too much like Myspace. It seems like the FFR profile system is way better than allowing users to post that annoying Myspace stuff all over the place.

Everyone. Please calm down. If you don't like some of the features, simply DON'T USE THEM. So many people complaining. FFR will never be like Myspace. For one,FFR is fun. Myspace is a breeding grounds of filth. See the difference? FFR is my sanctuary from school and life, and it being turned to Myspace clone, would be worse then a DDR machine breaking down on me. Trust me,you are getting too paraniod Chromer. FFR will NEVER turn into a myspace. The Profiles are there for FUN. Look what I use my profile for. If FFR is turning into Myspace, where is Tom? Where are the freaky no-lifes? Exactly. The day FFR turns to a Myspace clone is the day that I will stop trying to be a MOD. Good day to you sir,and good riddance to the whole idea of
                              FFR+Profiles and stuff=Myspace.

                              Good day.
