I'm happy with the direction FFR is taking. I like the profiles, and I know that even though some people may treat it like MySpace, it won't affect me because I don't associate with them.

      Re: FFR, the new Myspace?

Wtf are you all smoking? I see no FFR myspace clone happening here - the profile system is COMPLETELY different. And Chromer, even if people sign up to get more people for their myspace (which I might add, I don't see happening) chances are they will leave within a week. Seriously think about the scenario. I msypace fool comes in says "check out my myspace" and gets flamed for it. I don't think that they will be heading back here anytime soon.

The display of how long you've been here and a forum just for us and all that crap is just retarded. It makes it seem like we're not open to new members WHATSOEVER and we're all a bunch of elite .

I see these new profile people staying in the profiles, the forum people staying in the forums, the mp chat people staying in mp, and the chat people staying in the chat. It's how it's always worked out.

Also I think the only problem with the FFR profile system is that it doesn't have an official name. You people calling it ffrspace doesn't really help the cause of preventing a "myspace" thing.

IF YOU ARE THE BOMB YOU WILL CLICK THIS and if you dont, you suck.

        Re: FFR, the new Myspace?

Very serious debate going on here. Should this be moved to CT? O_o

Anyways, you guys are not getting what I'm saying. I'm not saying, "the profiles are examples of how Myspace is taking over." I'm saying, "the general feeling of a Myspace-like website has started to settle over the site." I'm not saying that FFR will start getting Myspace like features because it would be a cold day in hell before Synth would ever do that. However, the fact remains that when were long gone as Muskrat put it, who is going to replace us? Certainly not more cool savvy kids like us, but the "Myspace" group. They will affect the future of FFR when one day we suddenly stop caring for the site. That's what my fear is about. The future of FFR.

          Re: FFR, the new Myspace?

Chromer, I've been with FFR since it started and I'm quite happy to see awesome features like these implemented in the site. I don't use the profiles (or Resonance or, hell, even the game very much), but I can tell that a lot of other people like them and that new people may be attracted to FFR because of its cool secondary features, be they Spin It Up, Resonance, chat, the forum, or profiles.

The forums won't be taken over any time soon, regardless of how many people use the profiles; you have your haven here.

As for "the new myspace", well, we share the similarity in that people can make their own profiles and post on other people's. That's about it. I think it's pretty cool that you can see and learn a little more about a person that you meet on the forums or playing multiplayer; it makes FFR more accessible and thus keeps people around, and that's what I think Synth's trying to do.

Pah, the regulars that have here now will never get up and get lives. We'll be well into retirement before we stop posting on FFR

On a more serious note, FFR will change, Chromer. That's what web-based communities do. You can't expect it to not cater to the majority. That's just life. I suggest you learn to adapt. This being said, who is it hurting to let the chat kiddies have a little myspace with their FFR? We still sit here, quietly oblivious and happy, posting on the forums. Hell, I didn't know the profile feature existed until this topic, so it certainly isn't hurting me any. I love FFR, it's a great community. However, I couldn't care less who comes to replace me. I'll have moved on to bigger, possibly better, things.

The real question is, should we tell them about this thread to get their attention about this?

I'm no big fan of the invasion of the Myspace crowd, but I won't be an ass as long as they don't post anything about their opinion (government is behind 9/11, Fallout Boy rocks, ect.) or anything that's just plain stupid (government is behind 9/11, Fallout Boy rocks, ect.) on the forum. Like mead said, especially when they're not even touching the forum, they're not hurting anyone.

                      And on topic:

I never really use the profiles or anything just because I'm not into them. I check my myspace like once a week so what makes you think I'm gonna check FFR profiles every day? Those people who do fill out their profiles to extent our idiots. No one knows them so they aren't gonna cyber with them. Also, only a retard would try to meet up with someone they don't know on the internet. Then again I would be afraid to meet up with ANYONE on the internet unless I have been around for a while. There are a lot of people viewing this thread.

                        Aw, someone's jealous.
I watched clouds awobbly from the floor o' that kayak. Souls cross ages like clouds cross skies, an' tho' a cloud's shape nor hue nor size don't stay the same, it's still a cloud an' so is a soul. Who can say where the cloud's blowed from or who the soul'll be 'morrow? Only Sonmi the east an' the west an' the compass an' the atlas, yay, only the atlas o' clouds.

ODI isn't exactly the pinnacle of the internet, but it's a pretty fun site. That's all I'll say about that.

I've been on FFR for almost 3 years now, and I don't foresee leaving any time soon, no matter what happens. I'll always be around to tell people to clear their cache. 8)

                              Was talking to falcon:

lCornersl: You have been banned for the following reason:
Don't be a dick to the profile people.. Do it again and I will ban your IP. I won't put up with your crap. Cheers, Synthlight

Date the ban will be lifted: 08-15-2006, 12:00 PM
                              lCornersl: lolololol

He thinks that the ban was supposed to be scary and says he doesn't care. I talked to him about it saying that he got banned because he was an ass and what he did was way out of line. He's still being stubborn about it. Hmm, I don't think he really learned. The IP ban threat is a locked iron gate for him and he'd go in that gate if it was unlocked. It would be much nicer if he knew exactly why he isn't allowed in that iron gate so a lock isn't needed. Okay, enough metaphors:

lCornersl: i didnt mean it to be mean, just to get the whole "go back to myspace" point across >.>

Yeah, saying "go kill yourself" isn't being mean.

                              Edit: Oh nvm he learned.

lCornersl: great i feel like the biggest jackass, i can live with ass or asshole but not jackass. i hate jackasses
