    FFR, the new Myspace?

Ok, has anyone other than me noticed that FFR is becoming more Myspace-y? With all the Profile business and more features that promote friendship and junk, it seems that FFR is losing the very thing that made us unique: non-conformity.

    O_o

Here's an example of what I mean.

I fear for our website. I'm being dead serious too.

Wow, how did you find that profile. It's bad.

We still have the garbage bin, once they take over there we are screwed.

So long as we keep people such as you at arms reach, it should be ok.

They were always here, they just lurked MP chat. If they want to turn their profiles into myspace clones, they can go right ahead, profiles are just a small part of the site.

                    Re: FFR, the new Myspace?

Even though each subcommunity of FFR dislikes the others, it suits the needs of everyone and 99% of what happens on FFR (besides advertising) is created out of a want or need of the community. We don't spend weeks upon weeks work on things like FFR Resonance because I can't wait to play my own simfiles online. It is created because people want it and it is useful (especially in school).

                    Cheers,

                    Synthlight

See that's what I mean Synth. While the game is developed to suit the community, it was just a matter of time before the site catered to the "Myspace" group.

If what you are saying is true, and we the "sub-culture who make up about 20% of FFR, then the other 80% will want more Myspace like features. If its for the good of the site then it will be considered and done. That's what scares me the most about it. O_o

                            I completely agree, actually.

I know the site is going to keep growing, but putting MP Chat and Profiles will just want those retarded myspace-type people to WANT to come here...which is what the veterans and people-who-actually-mean-something-to-the-site don't want. =\

Personally, i'd rather have a smaller group of people I like than a million people I don't.

I agree completely. At least all the new people are coming into the forums and making lots of threads about how they need help. It took me a while before I realized we even had a profile feature. At least you can't customize it like myspace.
The secret to your future lies hidden in your daily routine.

The reason most people fail instead of succeed is that they trade what they want most for what they want at the moment.
