I recently got an ultra nifty deal off tigerdirect.com for a 200gb Seagate drive for 90 bucks. I usually go Westren Digital, because they rock, but 200 gigs was too much to pass up. Tiger direct has other good deals too, I've had good luck with them.

PS: macs suck a big, hairy, smelly, dirty, lopsided popsicle (I almost never post here so i dont know what will get me banned). macs are the bane of my existence. That and my POS lawnmower.

ow, i'll admit, you DO see commercials for dell and compaq and like one other brand, but they suck, and they dont count, because they're pre-made systems. macs come with all the crap already in it, uncustomizable, and it sucks.

And that's any different from any "PC" manufacturer? At least I can replace the damn video card on my Mac. PowerMacs use AGP, PCI, USB, Firewire, IDE, and Serial ATA just like x86 systems do. What more do you want? It's not like Macs are built from the same architecture.

About 90% of the people posting in this thread need to get a clue. It's really a shame that it's impossible to actually talk intelligently about computers without people butting in: "HAY MAX SUK I HEARD THEY ONLY RUN @ 2.5 GHZ HUR HUR."

I don't like macs. My friend uses one and even he has complaints about such things as processor speeds and the like. I've used his but.. it was boring. I've used apples at my grammar school and imacs at my junior high. I just don't like them. They seem to be more towards people with talent than people who just want to download porn and play games. What gets me though is that I don't see 3rd party support for macs from people who I'd like to see it from.

Mac's are not gaming machines. They're meant more towards media, photography and graphic arts and stuff like that. That's what they are really good at. They're pretty decent for business work too, I guess.

PC's excel in the gaming industry, and other area's too. The PC has more variety and capability then a Macintosh, but it really depends on what you want to use a computer for.

Photography? Get a Mac.
Gamer? Get a PC.

I hate Macs, but that's probably because I'm not really into sucking at life. I mean, Macs can handle media fine, but so can PC's. PC's can do many other common things you would expect from a computer, like gaming, but Macs? No dice. Besides, you can easily customize PC's. I have no idea how LEGO built a comp in 45 seconds, but it's perfectly reasonable to build a PC in 15 minutes. I've done it. Granted, it was an old P2 system, but with an ATX mobo, so it's not that different from a modern PC. Another point: On a Mac, I always have the feeling I'm doing everything from the desktop, a feeling I hate. I like navigating through Windows Explorer to get things done. Also: What's the fucking deal with the white/clear scheme Mac's have going on that look like they were ripped out of the Zion control base from the Matrix? At least with PC's you get some customization, from the gigantic outerworldly towers from Alienware to the mini PC's from Shuttle to the normal beige box from, well, most any company. Point is, I just feel Macs need to understand people use computers for more than iMovie.

the only good thing about macs is that they don't get viruses and you don't have to worry about getting your Norton updated, even though my dad is a Mac Freak..i hate them. I might be typing on one now but my OWN computer is a PC. and for it I got 3D monopoly

Just so everyone out there knows off hand i own 3 macs and 2 PCs. The debate over which one is better simply can not be one by a single side. Both systems have their ups and downs. For example if you are into programming and playing games then the PC is for you. If you are into computer graphics such as web site design or making movies or anything art related then the mac is for you. They are both great systems it just depends on what you use your computer for. I plan to be majoring in computer graphic art so there fore i am more a Mac person, but my friend is a die har online gamer so he loves the PC. So in the end I see it as being a tie.

I go over to one of my friends houses whose running panther or OS 10 or whatever the hell you mac people use. I turn the box on and instantly I'm bombarded with a legion of bright, artificially happy colors and bubbly, superfluous window decorations. I nearly passed out from the unprovoked guerilla attack on my senses. My head is still spinning. Once I managed to wrap my head around this neon themed carnival of a GUI, I failed to find any redeeming features in the system itself. The whole idea of "user friendly" is cruely mutilated on macs, they seem to be designed for the type of person who wears a helmet everywhere and isn't allowed near any sharp objects. The whole thing is designed as a fail safe to insure that I dont do anything the mac deems irresponsible. For instance, finding files. on a PC, to find a file, you go to my computer, then C: then wherever you savced the file. its not so simple on a mac. Finding anything is closer to an archeological dig, than searching for a file on you computer. You pick a section of your computer that seems plausible, and then begin the slow, tedious dig through layers and layers of crap. Of course the file is nowhere near there, its actually hidden deep inside the bowels of the mac (which it wont let you access because it assumes your not able avoid walking into walls let alone operate your computer, which actually may be true with some mac users) in a file called 13Qpf or something equally meaningless. All of this takes hours because the thing is SO DAMN SLOW. Which brings me to my next point, the nonsensical use and price of mac hardware. Volumes could be written on the subject. Entire textbooks. HAY MAX SUK I HEARD THEY ONLY RUN @ 2.5 GHZ HUR HUR. It's true! you pay like 2k for this processor that only runs at midrange speeds! A common excuse from mac users is "well it does what i want it to right?" yes, it does, BUT YOUR PAYING LIKE $5000 FOR THIS PIECE OF SHIT COMPUTER! Why is it so hard to accept that the comparny is CHEATING you, operating off your computer naivete? And then you cant even upgrade anything (except the video cardin some models as you pointed out), you have to buy a whole new fucking computer! And whats the mice? not only do the optical mice have a tracking rate of -2, they're all single click! I want my right click damnit! On to software. Aside from the fact that all computer games come out AT LEAST 6 six monthes after they do on pc (and then suck anyway) mac users have some serious delusions about software. Now I'm free to admit that some video and graphics programs work a little better on macs, thats what they're geared towards. But they work just fine on PC's too! why is this so hard to grasp? i have photoshop open on my pc right now! it is not a mac fucking only program! oh, and just yesterday, I edited some movie clips... ON MY PC! WOW! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?!

I mean, really, who uses Linux and doesn't know how to use the simplest commands? Listing a directory? You can't SURVIVE in Linux without knowing that, you moron. Er, unless it's Mandrake or something. Then you just have to live with never installing another piece of software again if you can't use the command line.


Myself, I play with Linux and use Windows most of the time because Windows has games and programs from school that I must use. wine is complicated and always gives me errors. I've only been successful using it to run terragen. And it was slow.

If yuo don't know what ls does, you're not using Linux, you're looking at it.


And hobbsgoblin, I'd point out how many errors and inaccuracies you made in your post, but I'm too lazy. I'll just say this: you're an idiot. I'm not a fan of macs either, but nothing that you said was accurate. It was all crap, and you kept contradicting yourself.
