if you think this is something I haven't thought about I question how anticipate the reactions of others or think about what other people are thinking

of course this is something I've thought about and the reasons I can imagine you giving are so bad that I'm wondering how much of a cognitive trainwreck you must be to hold them in your brain and not make it immediately evident that you're acting on bad information

let's go over the criterion of pertinent to the site's interest and forums that do not fit this criterion

          - newbie forum -- not related to ffr the game, posts only last about 5-10 replies

          - AMA forum -- unrelated to ffr the game, not neccessary to talk about ffr

          - chit chat -- unrelated to ffr the game, not necessary to talk about ffr, could browse any misc board instead

          - birthdays -- no one cares about your birthday, really, this is unrelated to ffr the game

          - sports -- definitely not related to ffr the game, could browse any sports forum

          - radio -- only related to ffr the game if it's a specific channel dealing with music games

          - general video games -- possibly related to ffr, probably about league of legends

          - 32-bit RGB -- only tangentially related to stepmania and even less to ffr; mostly a forum to post art unrelated to ffr, could browse /r/art

          - critical thinking -- definitely not related to FFR, most of the topics are metaphysics or other speculative questions

          - "game threads" -- perhaps the most unnecessary of all

          - werewolf game -- ditto

          - literature -- completely unrelated unless it's fan fiction of ffr players, which it probably isn't

          - media -- same rationale as 32-bit rgb

          - the garbage bin - secret forum for a clique of people from ffya, do I need to even say anything

is this sufficient to demonstrate to you why you should have never made this reply or do you need further elaboration

              this is a loaded question

nothing on the forums is "important"

every subforum is a matter of topical convenience and a fitness subforum allows for everyone who currently posts in The Fitness Thread to have a diversity of subject matter to talk about; since the conversational structure of any thread is linear, people currently can't do this without obscuring the path of conversation for a reader, and they must perform this tradeoff any time they choose to discuss a different subject

discussing forums in terms of "important" or "non important" means you haven't framed the issue correctly

how did you think about this for more than five seconds and not realize it was a horrible line of reasoning

you are implying the existing forums are "needed", and no forum is "necessary" unless you're trying to maintain some standard of relevance to the game and if so, this post elaborates on how 13 existing forums are not necessary or are unrelated to the game

"if you create enough subforums, you might as well have none" seriously did you think about this statement at all, there are finitely many subjects to talk about and you can always delete underperforming subforums

and no, I did not know you weren't an admin. this is good news.

What do you guys seeing the Fitness subforum potentially bringing to the site that makes it important to have on the forums at such a visible level? Why does it have to leave the scope of a thread to be a subforum of its own?
I would say it would warrant a subforum for the following main reasons (all taken together in context):

                  1. The thread has been long-standing enough and active enough to show that there's definitely sufficient interest, even in the current state of limited forum maneuverability. If anything, I think the activity level would increase with the added organizational framework. Maybe you have no interest in some generic "fitness" thread, but perhaps you'd have something to add to a "nutrition" thread or a "long-distance running" thread, etc etc etc w/e. These threads would be quite annoying to simply fuse into Chit-Chat when we could keep them confined to their own area where they won't get dragged out of line by other Chit-Chat topics.

                  2. Fitness, as a subject, is hugely diverse with lots of topic/thread potential. To offer the opposite analogy, imagine combining various FFR topics into a single "FFR thread." It would be frustrating to navigate and hard to have focused discussions. You might counter-argue "Yeah, but there'd be much more activity in the FFR thread versus the current fitness thread, which would more strongly justify its compartmentalization," to which I'd say "You're right, and this is why a sub-forum is a reasonable compromise."

                  3. We already have plenty of forums on FFR that have nothing to do with FFR whatsoever (in fact, most of them). Many posters here aren't even here for the game anymore. So I don't find these "go to another site" arguments convincing. Why not go to /r/criticalthinking or /r/sports or /r/gaming instead of the equivalent forums here on FFR? The answer is the community. I enjoy talking to the various posters in the fitness forum because they're fun people and quite knowledgeable. Contrast this to a site like reddit or bb.com where broscience is all too common. We've got lots of great people on this site.

                  4. Fitness is actually rather value-adding, and I'm reasonably sure that if there's any place that could possibly benefit from people getting in shape, it's a forum where people spend their time sitting at a computer hitting arrow keys. XD

                  5. There's little downside. If, for some reason, the fitness subforum turns out to be a bad idea, then you can just delete the thing and it's as if it never existed. No harm done.

Yo arch , i don't think posts like this and your previous ones are a good way of showing you should be an admin of the subforum when it's made.

                          Re: fitness subforum

I could work with a Fitness and Lifestyle type subforum. Discuss eating habits/diet, exercise techniques- the promotion of the general wellbeing of the FFR userbase to remind them to sit up from their FFR sessions, enjoy a good stretch, and intertwine that with DDR as well (Since I definitely consider that a form of exercise too).

I could get behind that. If we have a Werewolf game subforum, why not a Lifestyle one? This thread is definitely shown that people are interested in such a topic.

PM me if you find the secret.

lol enough with the holier than thou attitude. If you were going to be an admin again it would've happened by now. You're just a pathetic scrub like the rest of us.

Stop acting like every answer that comes your way is a bad one. This is exactly why I think what I do about you; you've typed up a short story on why everyone is wrong and why you would be so much better. If you're so good, why are you here?

like, this isn't even about fitness. If you cared, you would've done as I suggested before. What this is truly about is seeding yourself a position that would get you closer to being an admin. Fuck off.

edit: anyway the other guys care a lot about this so I'm just going to take my argument elsewhere. If you want to continue this do it in a PM or on my wall. Cya
