    Re: fitness subforum

If the issue is needing to find a moderator, I would probably put up Reincarnate. Or SCWolf if their posting history is sound. I'd volunteer for the task as well since I have a keen interest in the subject, and would be interested in seeing what others have to offer in the subject as well.

Post your progress picture thread anyone?

PM me if you find the secret.

        @pseudo_enigma

I'm being sincere. but, since you seem to be typing to me genuinely, I will keep irony to a minimum and say:

        * if I wanted to be a dick I could say that socially inept people rush to medicalizing behaviors they find difficulty pinpointing motivations for (e.g. via claiming someone has a disorder that is deterministically affecting them), but in addition to being dicky that's inaccurate

        * I don't want to be an admin of this website, at all, and I don't want to have an obligation to run this website. if I say something like "you can admin me if it's too much trouble", I am saying that your insufficiency in running this website is so severe that I, the person who is arguing with you, will do your job for you to get this task done -- the insinuation being that, hopefully, you realize how poor it is to not have done this yet.

        * you seem to think that because I have targeted a few people here as giving especially bad reasons for their positions that I think "everyone" sucks. quite a few people on this forum don't suck and are highly enjoyable to interact with. it just so happens that the people who make the conscious decision to argue with me tend to be either (a) dense or (b) part of the ffya clique, though this may be redundant. I would enjoy an ffr that has a fitness subforum.

        * every answer that has come my way regarding why a fitness subforum has not yet been created is a bad one. you have been given several posts of reasons for why these reasons are insufficient, and I'm not going to type them out for you again, so you can go back and read them if you've forgotten what those reasons are.

        * if I was going to stir up shit I'd if anything stay, since arguing is in and of itself a stimulating activity

I don't know what the point is with the forum-warring here, but I made some serious points earlier that I'd appreciate having addressed.

I agree with and support everything you said, which is why I personally haven't responded to it; it's frustrating that people have not responded to you adequately.

Fitness plays a huge part in being good at rhythm games that require you to leave your chair.

ITG, DDR and PIU are examples of this, which also happen to have relevance to FFR.

                      Re: fitness subforum

I'm for the idea of having a fitness subforum. I see it having plenty of potential.

                      Edit:

                      Oh, this is good.

I took a look at the forum to get a better idea of something I never had to think critically about until now. We have a subforum for art, music, video games, and various other things that can be tied to this game and it's community.

I believe fitness is highly overlooked and underrated given some of the responses in this thread.

This video is currently at the top of FFR's homepage:
                      http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...p?songid=12996

FFR attracts those who are interested in rhythm games. Most rhythm games happen to involve some type of physical movement. FFR shares a nice resemblance to DDR, coincidence? We have a large number of users who partake in cardio intensive arcade games. We acknowledge these games by giving them their own section in our video database.

Whether learning how to improve your body to play on an arcade machine or outlast a 24 hour stamina challenge that has often occurred within this very game's environment, the topic of fitness/health is directly related to the FFR user base.

I'm sure that this is more than enough to merit a subforum.

                        1. The thread has been long-standing enough and active enough to show that there's definitely sufficient interest, even in the current state of limited forum maneuverability. If anything, I think the activity level would increase with the added organizational framework. Maybe you have no interest in some generic "fitness" thread, but perhaps you'd have something to add to a "nutrition" thread or a "long-distance running" thread, etc etc etc w/e. These threads would be quite annoying to simply fuse into Chit-Chat when we could keep them confined to their own area where they won't get dragged out of line by other Chit-Chat topics.

                        2. Fitness, as a subject, is hugely diverse with lots of topic/thread potential. To offer the opposite analogy, imagine combining various FFR topics into a single "FFR thread." It would be frustrating to navigate and hard to have focused discussions. You might counter-argue "Yeah, but there'd be much more activity in the FFR thread versus the current fitness thread, which would more strongly justify its compartmentalization," to which I'd say "You're right, and this is why a sub-forum is a reasonable compromise."

                        3. We already have plenty of forums on FFR that have nothing to do with FFR whatsoever (in fact, most of them). Many posters here aren't even here for the game anymore. So I don't find these "go to another site" arguments convincing. Why not go to /r/criticalthinking or /r/sports or /r/gaming instead of the equivalent forums here on FFR? The answer is the community. I enjoy talking to the various posters in the fitness forum because they're fun people and quite knowledgeable. Contrast this to a site like reddit or bb.com where broscience is all too common. We've got lots of great people on this site.

                        4. Fitness is actually rather value-adding, and I'm reasonably sure that if there's any place that could possibly benefit from people getting in shape, it's a forum where people spend their time sitting at a computer hitting arrow keys. XD

                        5. There's little downside. If, for some reason, the fitness subforum turns out to be a bad idea, then you can just delete the thing and it's as if it never existed. No harm done.
                        I agree with everything here.

I can't speak for anyone else that uses the site but, I would certainly post more in a fitness forum than I currently do in the fitness thread, as it's easier to organize topics and ideas.

As it stands the fitness thread has devolved into basically a lifting thread, which is...fine, because that's what most of the people still willing to post in that giant mega thread do, but there's a lot of potential IMO.

The only reason I'm still here is for the community. I certainly wouldn't be against a fresh new subforum.

Then should we move "Game" Threads and The Werewolf Game to the Gaming section of the forums? Do a little house cleaning/rearranging? I am being serious.
