    Edit: I can get to the cross in 44 steps. I... don't know how... to... do this...
    Tried a "detour" down the second lane, nope

    Still off by 8

    First one I try to google, other people say they're off by either 4 or 2, which I suppose is due to the checkerboard. But 8?

    Also, I see how you would make a dolphin in the level... but the cross blocks me from going back

        44 steps to the cross is right...sometimes you don't have to make a detour if you do what you need to do later on first.
