Re: Mixtape Project
Sorry about that~lol did Carlos download the mixtape I had to review by accident?... I'm Mega Genesis and I thought I counted it right, wut.
My Own Two Sense
Contact - I find the idea interesting that there's a guy singing the melody calmly in the background while another one just yells like an endless lion at times. This is good metal, but hearing that guy's poor throat also makes my stomach turn upside down. I liked 2:14 and the fact it almost never repeats!
Introdiction (I thought there was a typo lol) - Good lyrics and sounds good, I overall liked the way it climbed up! The accent was thick, but also made it good.
The Great Gig In The Sky - Needs no introduction, if I hadn't got to listen to Pink Floyd's work for the first time about a year ago, I would've jizzed listening to this. This is still an incredible sound each time I hear it. 1:07 gets me every time. I feel like I'm having such a good time flying through the landscapes of my imagination while listening to this that it might hurt me in some way. Good song.
Transitions - Holy shit, from Pink Floyd to this, lol just let me lower the volume~. The track is pretty aggressive, but also pretty good. Less my taste, again with the screamo style of voices, but it's very good in its own right.
This was a nice rock mixtape, managed to grab the best of every genre, it seems!!
Thanks to the sender.

Re: Mixtape Project
hurry up! i'm going to conceptualize the shit out of this project. seems like only a handful of us realize that mixtapes are supposed to follow a THEME. your favorite genre is like the flavor of the week, but songs will always follow their theme. make the mixtapes timeless yall in 2012Originally posted by topwhat the hell happened to alden

Re: Mixtape Project
I forgot to do this :s Oh well doing it now
Dreambeat Mix
Connected
Kors k is awesome, the ambience the song has is really nice and the piano is really great with it. This is staying on my hdd :>
Dreamhunt
This started out kind of boring to me because I am not a huge fan of this kind of music, but around 2:00 it started to grow on me and I started to enjoy the song. The part that started at 3:37 was really awesome to listen to and the song started to get better as it went on imo.
Indigo Bird
Not really my kind of music at all considering I listen to gabber/breakcore normally, this is almost at the opposite end of the music spectrum to me. Seems kind of nice to chill out to though, so it's not a song that I would totally disregard.
Maps
Once again, this isn't the kind of music I would normally listen to, but it does have a sort of calming feeling to it that makes you want to keep listening
Overall, pretty calm mix. Not the kind of music I really listen to, but I'm kind of happy I got this mix because it's a huge change of pace from vsnares or loffciamcore lol

Re: Mixtape Project
I downloaded some of these out of curiosity and I am pleased , for the most part, with what I've heard so far.

Re: Mixtape Project
Sorry the stupid late review. Kinda just blew this off for no reason cause I'm just that kind of person.
Low-fi Obscure Oddities
Wet And Rusting (Menomena) - My gosh, I'm not sure what to call this genre, seems like progressive indie or something. Reminds me of The Dear Hunter. Very calm song, with an awesome acoustic melody, and random instruments and samples. Can't really hear the lyrics cause I can't really stand high pitched slower phrased vocals. But, it's so chill.
Crank Resolutions (Meursault) - The intro, is that bass and piano? Haha I can't tell. The vocals are pretty sick. His accent was kinda weird to me at first, but I like them. After listening to this and the first song I understand the mix title haha. This song has a pretty sick beat once it kicks in, then the melody here is pretty calm but pushes the song into a new direction.
Pepper Rabbit Rosemary Stretch - At first I thought this was gonna be an electronic type song, but then the acoustic guitar kicked in. The vocals remind me of MGMT haha. Really nothing else I can say other than it reminds me of MGMT a lot and that I like it haha.
Beach (Peter Wolf Crier) - Ok, this is the best song in the mix I think. The vocals are spot on for me, and the melody makes me want to just smoke a joint and chill out. This is just chill as **** mix.
Who ever made this mix, please hit me up, I wanna find more stuff like this.
